Shelfish42 Posted August 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2019 We always get hotels the night or two before our cruise. Any hotel suggestions for San Juan? We stayed at the Embassy Suites in San Juan (great hotel) years ago but it was pretty far away from the pier and we had to hire our own shuttle. It'd be great to be closer to the ship and have a shuttle available.
MiniChunks Posted August 20, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2019 we've stayed at both the Condado Plaza Hilton and the La Conch Renaissance. Don't remember if they had a shuttle or not, but theyre very close to the pier. I'd stay at either again.
FLACRUISER99 Posted August 20, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2019 (edited) I don't think there are any hotels close to the PanAM Pier.https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2649874-needing-hotel-suggestions-for-san-juan/ Edited August 20, 2019 by FLACRUISER99

Dewaldcruiser Posted August 20, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2019 I've yet to find any hotel in San Juan with free shuttles to the PanAm Pier and I am not aware of any hotel within walking distance of said pier. That said, Uber is pretty reasonable for the Condado Hilton to the pier.
njkruzer Posted August 20, 2019 #6 Share Posted August 20, 2019 No free shuttle but we stayed at La Concha several times and really like it. Taxi fare was probably $20 or maybe a little more. Whatever it was i thought it was reasonable.
bouhunter Posted August 20, 2019 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2019 I don't think any hotels in San Juan offer airport or pier shuttles. Uber or taxi is the best way to get around. We like Condado Plaza Hilton and Embassy Suites. We were at Embassy Suites in January, they've done a great job renovating the whole place post-hurricane. Ashland Posted August 22, 2019 #9 Share Posted August 22, 2019 We've stayed a few times at the Sheraton Old San Juan...love the location. We use a taxi to get to the Pan American pier approx $18.00 .
vegas7df Posted August 22, 2019 #10 Share Posted August 22, 2019 We like Caribe Hilton, it was just renovated due to the hurricane. Plenty of cabs to take you to the pier, which is close. Donna
cruiseguy1016 Posted August 22, 2019 #11 Share Posted August 22, 2019 I don't know of any hotels that offer shuttle service to the pier so you will need to hire a taxi (or Uber) to get around. We have stayed at the Embassy Suites and also loved it. Our new favorite hotel in San Juan is the Intercontinental. Like Embassy Suites, it's also near the airport. GalwayGirl03 Posted August 22, 2019 #12 Share Posted August 22, 2019 We stayed at the Intercontinental..it was really nice..grea pool and beach access..but we did have to have our own car service but it was very nice!
dani negreanu Posted August 22, 2019 #13 Share Posted August 22, 2019 We stayed at Best Western Plus Condado Palm Inn & Suites, priced very reasonably since it's one block from the beach. Excellent location, we took the local bus to Old SJ in front of the hotel. Taxi to the pier was less than 20$.

Was the schedule pretty frequent and easy to navigate? Thanks in advance!

Rare island lady Posted August 22, 2019 #16 Share Posted August 22, 2019 Normally we just fly in day of cruise (we live just outside Orlando, quick non-stop on Jet Blue)...with really no worries since sail away is not until 8 pm. Indeed I would fly in day early if coming from northern states, and especially if have connecting flight. But this time, since we have more time and are doing B2B2B, we are coming in a day early and elected to stay very close to the pier at the Sheraton. Even has view of the port from hotel room. Will be nice to see Vision come in early that morning. 🙂

katiel53 Posted August 22, 2019 #18 Share Posted August 22, 2019 We've never stayed at a hotel in San Juan where they had a shuttle to the Pan Am pier whether free or not. We have stayed at the Condado and the Marriott Stellaris as well as Embassy Suites. We liked the Marriott best. I thought Embassy Suites was drab and kind of depressing and it wasn't on the beach. We haven't sailed from San Juan in a few years so it may be different today.
boscobeans Posted August 22, 2019 #19 Share Posted August 22, 2019 We have always stayed in the Condado area hotels. The cab ride to the ship depending on traffic has been a thrill ride on occasion. LOL

If I remember correctly, it was about 15 minutes or so from the port.

And no...I am not a gambler. 😉 Edited August 23, 2019 by island lady
Guatiao Posted August 28, 2019 #24 Share Posted August 28, 2019 This link is for the Puerto Rico Convention center, but the map has hotels around it, which are near the Panamerican Port (the Convention Center is on the way to the pier). https://prconvention.com/en/visitors/
