Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

We planted 2 peach trees last year, have to put a fence around them other the deer would eat every leaf off the trees. It's amazing how much they grew in a year.

We have one large Apple tree too, is not fenced in so the deer eat the apples right off the tree that they can reach, just the lower branches. That's okay, keeps them off the the flowers around the house.

You will love having peach trees.     We have just one, planted about 4 or 5 years ago and the volume of fruit I now get from the tree is amazing.     At the same time we planted the peach tree we planted a cherry tree (Eric loves Cherry - me - no thank you).     This tree is doing well but not growing as fast as the peach tree.     We have it netted now as the birds love those cherries as well as our blueberries which are also netted now too.     Should be ready for picking when we get home.

I used to post on a Nostalgia board and became very friendly with a guy who lives in California. He refers to me as his best friend who he never met.

I deeply regret that I never met Graham and will likely never will.He is one of the truly nice people in this world.I have met Arzeena and her husband and I consider them to be the same type of people.

Thank you so much for your very kind words Lenny.

It would have been very nice to have met yourself too.

Sending you mine and Pauline's very best wishes always.

Graham.

Peach trees here are going to be challenging though because of the late frost here at this altitude. Had many more blossoms in the early spring then I do fruit now. I know I lost a lot on a few of those cool nights. The trees are getting to large to cover, only other options on cold nights is to run the sprinklers all night so the flowers don't freeze.

On the other hand the apple tree blooms later( not as great of a chance of a late frost getting them) and I will have a lot of apples in the fall.

Peach trees bloom earlier then apple trees.

It is so nice to walk out into your yard and pick your own fruit, veggies, etc.    Does your Daughter like to bake you treats with her fruit trees?

True.      I usually start picking peaches in July.    The other year we had a fungi problem and now treat the tree every spring and fall.    Hopefully all will be fine this year.

Sydney is high on my list of places I've never been to.  Scotland first (home of golf and my ancestors), then Australia.

I also would love to see Australia , my wife had some interesting business trips including Australia, Korea , London and Bahrain. I never traveled outside the USA for business.

Now I have been searching google to see how many teeth a 9 year old can lose.  At one every four days, I will be broke by the time we take him home in August. 🤣🤣

Plus, he may get extra screening at the airport for carrying so much cash.

I have to admit, I'm a bit jealous.

When I lost a tooth as a child, I never received a letter from the tooth fairy! 😂😂

A few days ago, someone had posted picture from a Melissa Lambert & Little Big Town concert.  Knowing people here love their spirits, I "thought" I had posted a link to one of my favorite  LBT songs. Either it never went through  or it was deleted so I'll post it again.  Never fails to put me in good spirits (pun intended)

Sorry, no mention of Kraken.

The first time I was in Aruba was 2010.I could not find a tee shirt to buy.

The second time I was there was in Oct.2019,I think ,my short term memory is not good at times.I bought the shirt I am wearing today .Two months later we were back and I bought another tee shirt.

My two favorite places that I cruised to were Alaska and the Panama Canal.

Non cruise vacations were a cross country trip from NY to Calif with stops in 43 cities and a cross country trip in Canada ,the latter with our then soon to be 2 year old daughter. We have vacationed in Canada 17 times .

I probably posted this previously .The first time we were there in 2010 was with another couple.I think the all aboard was 8 PM .At 7:30 PM all four of us were winning big in a casino on slot machines. If we were young I think we would have stayed but at our ages we opted to cash out and head for the ship.

I actually never cruised to Aruba, just visited the island as a destination itself 8 or 9 times. Last time was Nov 2020 for 3 weeks. That was right after the 1st Covid wave ended & just before the 2nd started. They had pretty strict testing requirements at the time - much tougher than what cruise ships require now.  Love the beaches, casinos, food, friendly people and consistent weather.  The only real complaint I've ever heard is that it's too "commercialized" or "westernized", it doesn't have that relaxed tropical feel to it. 🤷‍♂️

Enjoy, October is a great time to visit.  No hurricanes, although if there is a hurricane somewhere in the Atlantic, it may pull the tropical breezes away from Aruba, leaving it a bit steamy.

What are your plans for Aruba?  We did a catamaran snorkel sail once, and the last two times we just walked to Eagle Beach and spent the day there.

I think we may look into renting a Jeep with a couple friends, then exploring some other areas.
