Even those created by enthusiasts. I think between our house and are grandkid’s houses, we have tens of thousands of pieces, and everyone enjoys building and creating. I was just reading an article about legos, and their attempt to find an alternate material to use, instead of the ABS plastic. They estimate a lego piece will have a lifespan of 1200 years or more. The article also touched on reclaiming legos brought up in fishermen’s nets. I wondered how they found their way into the ocean, then read about the Lego lost at sea project where 5 million pieces were swept overboard from a tanker near Cornwall in 1977. Apparently, pieces still wash ashore today. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/whimsical-legos-are-still-washing-ashore-decades-after-they-were-lost-at-sea-180979580/ Yes, Lego has brought many years of enjoyment to my son and my friends’ son. They are both in their 20s and still enjoy Lego so you have many years ahead of Lego building with your grandkids. Thanks for sharing that article. I had no idea of that event & the long lasting repercussions for the sea/beaches around Cornwall.
Rare aussielozzie18 Posted December 9, 2023 #110278 Share Posted December 9, 2023 (edited) Hot, humid night here. Did a brief bit of Christmas Lights viewing tonight but had to cut it short due to an approaching storm with lightning. FromSea2ShiningSea Posted December 9, 2023 #110282 Share Posted December 9, 2023 A few photos here from October’s Radiance Panama Canal cruise. The sunset as we were leaving San Diego. Found in the Windjammer for @Ocean Boy. The little plaques on the wall: “New England Lighthouse” created by Victor Stuart Graham was born next to the sea in Newhaven, Sussex. He was inspired by the power, changing colors and “moods” of the sea. He also grew up around lightouse structures and admire their individual architecture. His love of both elements is evident in his work. 23

Now that the initial excitement has worn off & the crowds have eased, it was time to visit. Just for OB @Ocean Boy - the Lego creators added a red-back spider onto the tree. There also a mechanical lighthouse. (Sadly no Lego model of your Billionaire BFF) Amazing! Equally amazing is the patience it takes to build these creations.

jmh2006 Posted December 9, 2023 #110285 Share Posted December 9, 2023 @Luckynana and @BonTexasNY don't forget about me! I was told "Jennifer" was the most popular girls name in 1961 (my birth year). 😉 Also, I remember Love Story as being the first movie I bawled my eyes out too! Even today I still cry when I watch it. @FromSea2ShiningSea Thanks for the beautiful pictures Helen! 8

I purchased a traditional hand made woven silver bracelet and earrings from one of those stall set up at the port and the artisan was making those in front of the tourists. We took a tour with one of the vans at the port for $10. Went to the rainforest, loved the church in the forest, orchid gardens, herb gardens, then lots of local fruit samplings. I really liked it a lot. There were a lot of poo pooers, but I say their loss. I still cherish the experience. Your pictures are lovely as always. I hope you are having a wonderful cruise. 5

So many favourites I couldn’t just name one favourite moment. A couple favourites though are Rusty (the horse), JFK’s golf clubs and the contest. Master of my domain! 😇 I'll add the Second Spitter (aka The Magic Loogie with Keith Hernandez) and since it's the season: The Festivus -the holiday for the rest of us. But far too many to list. 5
