Looks like evacuation is the best bet for that area.   Is back at home in Sarasota?

Yikes! I hope she can stay safe. I will be thinking of everyone down there. My best friend and frat brother has a house a block from the beach in Naples.

My aunt & uncle are not far from your mom.  They are right on the causeway on Ringling Bros Blvd.  Hopefully, your mom is still in Canada.  My aunt & uncle are on their way to the East Coast right now.

Our condo is about a mile from the beach....we are on the 2nd floor

It’s a beautiful spot when the weather is good. Not sure about the next couple days though.

Is she there now? Does she live there full-time?

I believe she is still in Canada since she just had that operation is probably still doing rehab.

Thanks to all that asked. Home for mom is here in Canada thankfully and that’s where she is right now. Hurricane shutters are down, fingers are crossed and she has full insurance.

The condo managers sent an email out mid morning to everyone and mandatory evacuation started at noon today. They will be riding it out and cars of residents that live away have been relocated to multi level garage two buildings away. This was done a few years ago when there was a storm threat.

Glad to hear your Daughter will be safe at work.     But, Oh no, the cats will be probably be scared to death with all the strange noises and howling winds.   Poor babies.

Is there someway she can get her car to higher ground?

There is no higher ground that is close enough. I was surprised that her hospital doesn't have a parking garage because all of ours do. She paid off her car on Sept 1st and was hoping for a few more years before getting new car. Her cats are the most chill cats I've ever met. One was a stray that we fed for about 5 years before she took him in. He has survived hurricanes, thunderstorms, dogs, and everything else but he shows no fear. He is very happy inside and loves everyone including her new facility dog.

Snow Bird Cars.................Older year cars with very Low Miles.................They are the kind of used cars that are  good buys.

If you ever are in Florida, just  either pick up a local paper or look online when putting in the local zip code. Lots of good buys down there for used cars with low miles.

@Lionesss what an experience getting home.  Your perseverance paid off.  Hope you never have to go through something like that again

@A&L_Ont Good timing for your mom’s op & recovery.  Glad she is safe in Canada

To those in the path of the hurricane, hope your properties don’t suffer any damage & stay safe.

Somebody tried to scam me yesterday.  I ordered something from Amazon , and received a text message supposedly from the post office, telling me that there was a package with an incomplete address, that I needed to fix.  The hook was that i needed to pay a fee to fix this, give them a CC number.

I decided I would let Amazon fix this if it is a problem.

  The package was just delivered.

I don't actually know if Amazon ever uses the USPS, but I think FedEx does.

I don’t know what’s going on. My post disappeared and left photos. I think now the photos disappeared. I’ll start over!

Or maybe not.
My older great grandson turned 5 today, and he asked for Disney World instead of a party.
So my granddaughter and her husband took the boys to Disney World for several days.  Barring 140mph winds and torrential rain.
So far so good, though. Colton and his almost 3 year old brother Ledger are having a blast.

I’ve had that one more than once.  Also, the one doing the rounds atm is the Whats App scam that begins with “Hi Mum” and it’s a message that your child has lost their phone & money and urgently needs money sent.  Got that one whilst my daughter was overseas.  Didn’t fall for it though.

Thank you, Arzeena!!🥰

Beautiful place to hang out!  I just love restaurants on the beach.

Do you have cash on hand, also in case the registers don't work if they lose power??  Good luck, Mimi and Dick.  Stay safe!

My brother and his family live in Jacksonville, my cousins live in Kissimmee, and my aunt and uncle live in Sarasota.  They are en route to Boca where they were fortunate to get reservations in a hotel there.

We have quite a few in here who live in FL but when I saw that Naples was in Ian's path I immediately thought of you and Jim.  Here's wishing you a fabulous worry free cruise.  And, of course, wishing all of our FL friends to stay safe and dry with no property damage.

Lucky @A&L_Ont Andrew's mom is in Canada and not Sarasota.  Hoping for no damage.

Thought we needed  a little Food Porn to get away for a moment from all this storm talk.

Made Mexican Stuffed  Bell Peppers from the last 3 Bell Peppers picked from our Garden.

It was quite tasty and easy to make, will be making it again . 🙂

went around the house taking pictures for insurance today just in case. Our friends got out of Orlando, thank goodness. Tampa airport closed at 5 today and Orlando will close tomorrow.

we spent most of the afternoon finishing things at the house and helping neighbors with theirs. They’ve all already started the block party. lol

Changed the smiley face , thought that wasn't good but that was for the block party already started. Good thing you are further north.

Beautiful, guess makes no sense emptying that pool. Pretty good bet that waterway will be up over the pool and in your front yard. Lets just hope it doesn't get any higher then  2 or 3 ft.

I hope those boats don't end up n your front yard. You would think a lot of those boat owners would have been taking their boats out of the water to higher ground.

Maybe you can set up your Go-Pro over your Garage door and get Pictures as the storm comes in if it can survive the wind.
