Cruise with confidence enhanced

We were unable to lift and shift our November Western Caribbean cruise because the room category we had booked was not available one year out. But we were able to cancel, get our nonrefundable deposit back and book an Eastern Caribbean cruise a year out instead that happened to have a comparable room category available for a good fare. So it worked out for us without a lift and shift.

But what price are you paying for the Eastern Caribbean Cruise, current price that is on that sailing now or did you get a protected price from hopefully a lower priced cruise that was suppose to sail soon?

Other wise just sounds like you called up and booked a cruise for 2021 like normal?

Is there a website this is listed on? I called back again, was told the same thing by another agent, and they specifically asked me where I read that only Christmas, New Year’s, and Chinese New Year’s cruises are ineligible. They said unless I can point them to a specific page on their own website with that language, there was nothing they could do.

The Eastern Caribbean cruise a year out on the Oasis of the seas for Thanksgiving week 2021 was the SAME price as the Western Caribbean cruise on the Oasis of the Seas for Thanksgiving 2020. So we are not paying more. The Western Caribbean cruise we wanted to lift and shift to would have been $300 more pp because of the room category problem.

I had a wonderful CRS representative who worked with a resolution specialist and was able to switch our southern Caribbean cruise from SJU to a western cruise from MIA for next year. There were no Southern cruises going out of SJU in our 4 week Lift & Switch timeframe. We feel extremely  fortunate since others are having issues doing this type of change. I would say keep calling.

I wont go into the same lengthy wait times I experienced that everyone else has. Suffice it to say, I tried to lift and shift a cruise that is going to be cancelled in the next go round. Six-nighter. There are only seven-nighters in the four week window available for my itinerary. Matter of fact there is only one six-nighter in the entire world during that time frame. If they couldn't do the swap straight up,  I offered to pay the difference for the one night extra. They said nope and nope. I told them then I would take my cash refund next week. If they had never offered this then it wouldn't concern me, but to offer it and then not offer anything I could swap to annoyed me. Maybe it shouldn't but it does. They don't need my cash.

Thanks. I called a 4th time, unfortunately it didn't help. I was escalated up 2 levels of "managers" the final word was ANY cruise that is considered a holiday is exempt. Even if it isn't mentioned specifically in that FAQ, Thanksgiving is 100% on the exclusion list.

Royal on our "Lift and Shift" tried to do something to keep their cash flow. They went ahead and applied our drink package price and our internet package price to balance of the cruise. My travel agent was wondering why it seemed so much cheaper. We ended up telling Royal to refund us the price of the drink package and internet since we had put that on credit cards. The port fees and  taxes were about $85 dollars more. So in the end our cruise price is a little more expensive due to port fees and taxes. Whether or not we made the right decision to take the refund or not will depend on how quickly they credit our card. But seeing as some are waiting up to 45 days, this might cost us even more.

Does anyone know... for bookings that you use Lift and Shift, are they eligible for price reductions prior to final payment, just like any other booking?  I can't imagine prices will drop that low next year, but if they did, could you still call in for an adjustment?  Thanks for all the great information!

Ken, I have the Anthem 12 nights booked for 12/7/20 with a refundable deposit. Also have prepaid gratuities & $100 OBC would I be able to get a price reduction with their NEW Best Price Guarantee? I booked this cruise 2/25/20. Thank you.

I have two Future Cruise Credits from cruises cancelled by Royal Caribbean in April and May in the amount of $ 2650 and $ 1440

I tried to apply both credits to a new reservation on the Jewel for Christmas and reservations office at Royal didn’t let me apply both credits to the reservation I was making, they only allowed to apply one credit, my question is this ok

Thanks for posting this - I got turned down on similar request. Would you mind providing a few more details such as date of SJU cruise and what cruise you moved to?

thanks

That sucks.  You would have thought that if they took the time to include Chinese New year they would have included Thanksgiving or say All holiday sailings such as...but not limited to.

Only one credit allowed per name.  If there are 2 people on the booking the 2 credits can be applied as long as each corresponds to a guests name

sooo say I book an August cruise today (cheaper in late August) , I could then turn around and lift and shift for july next year as july is always higher priced.... then my kids wouldn't have to miss school but we could afford to cruise in the expensive summer time?

Yes.  You may lose the $100 OBC if it was promotional OBC.  You will be able to get price drops up to 48 hours prior to sailing

Other people have reported being able to do this.  Rules may change.

As long as I can keep the prepaid gratuities for this 12 night cruise. Thank you for your quick reply.

Did you pay for the gratuities or were they a perk.  If they were a travel agent perk the travel agent might not offer the same perks

Yes as long as it is within the 4 week time frame.  I just booked a cheap July 2020 cruise and shifted it to a 2021 July cruise which is about double the price today.  No one knows what it will be next year though
