The way I see it, wearing a required mask will prevent people from smoking. I really want to see smoking prohibited inside everywhere on every cruise ship. Who wants people purposefully blowing cigarette smoke along with lots and lots of droplets out of their mouths all over everyone?

If that's the policy ships won't be sailing this year.  Maybe not next year, or maybe never.

Is this a situation where contact tracing would be able to identify who transmitted the virus? If no one on his flight had the virus than chances are he contacted the virus on the cruise ship. What makes it nearly impossible to really trace, is the fact that anyone in the airport could have transmitted the virus. I honestly don't know how contact tracing can get an accurate answer.

Tourism is about to start again and crusing is part of it. Even that COVID-19 is still around also the cruise industry will need to start up again even in this environment. Hence, as part of all the new safety protocols that are currently being developed specific scenarios need to be figured out how to handle the situation on baord as soon as a passenger is suspected / was tested positive with COIVD-19 without having the whole ship going on isolation / getting into a situation that the ship is not allowed to dock at any port.

Until covid 19 is eliminated, plan on being confined to the ship for at least 14 days if some one becomes sick. But think about this before  we all cruise again. There are many asymptomatic carriers of the virus that could infect many people with this deadly disease. You may find yourself being put off the ship in a foreign port, then what?  How in the world will guests be able to stay safe in such confined spaces? Even with less passengers it would take only one person to infect many others.

Well contact tracing on the ship will be easy, everyone has pretty much been near everyone else, and no way to know otherwise.  So back to your rooms everyone, and stay there until we find a place to dock.  As long as the fear of the virus continues in society, I don't know how they come up with any plan to deal with a covid infection on a ship.

What happened 25 years ago was, the ship would continue as normal and people would return home. With covid-19, the ship may not be allowed to dock. People may not be allowed to leave the ship. Have you not heard of this already happening?
