i think its more of a case of embarking from US ports.  there is a handful of places in the caribbean read to welcome tourism. 

 

i dont feel good about America, too many dont want to follow guidelines and we have gov's kissing up and wanting to open with little to no guidelines , like GA..

The American population as a whole is our biggest obstacle that is next to impossible to overcome because there are too many people in this country who have the mindset they are going to do want they want to do, which means no social distancing, no masks, no frequent hand washing, etc.

 

There were numerous people on this site who frequently made comments like I am not going to live in fear. With people with attitudes like that it isn’t a surprise how bad our country is doing right now dealing with this virus. 

So simple wear a mask for the next 3 months and stop the spread so we can get back to some resemblance of normalcy.  who cares if you are a democrat or republican we are human beings and the virus doesn't care.  I had my September cruise canceled and I'm pretty sure my January cruise will be canceled also.  So sick of this just wear a mask, it's simple.

i agree with you , but philly is wrong, in the fact that many of us will not live in fear, however will follow guidelines and take safety precautions.  Im going to the casino in NJ on sunday.   its not that hard to wash up , use purell , keep distance and wear a mask.

   Given the recent surge of Covid-19 cases in the US, I doubt that many of the Caribbean islands would welcome tourists from our country arriving either by ship or plane. These islands will certainly have restrictions/precautions for visitors,for example quarantine, testing,temperature checks etc. if,in fact, they want US visitors at all.  It is one thing to want tourist dollars, but is it at the expense of their own citizens’ health and welfare ?

   I agree with the recent posts- we need to get the citizens of the US to realize this is an incredibly strong and dastardly virus. If the population would just wear a mask,keep social distance and stay home when able, the virus would be mitigated sooner than later.

   It is time for all to get a backbone,do the right thing,think of others and get on with flattening the curve to decrease the number of hospitalizations and deaths in this country.

That's great news.  This virus is just something we have to learn to live with and take safety precautions.  My sister and her family visited Vegas a couple of weeks ago.  I thought she was crazy, but everything turned out fine.  They wore masks and based on her pictures, it wasn't crowded.  The only place that had a lot of people was the pool.  She's been back for two weeks and didn't get the virus.  I think places are being extremely careful with social distancing and sanitization.  I am glad to see places in the Caribbean opening up with safety protocols.

With the no sail order now being pushed to 30 September I have my doubts about October.  We are booked on the 3 October Panorama sailing and are not confident at all.  Mexico and the CDC have votes.

Carnival is confident you’ll be able to cruise. Don’t stress it until they say something.

We have put off until the end of January 2021, and are not sure about that. Originally had been booked on the 1/30/21 Mardi Gras, but that got cancelled. So switched to RCCL HOS also out of Port Canaveral, for a day earlier. Fingers crossed. Rebooked the Mardi Gras for January 2022. Hopefully done by then.

i was at NC beach when there cases were fairly low, followed guidelines, still had a great time, and ill be in Atlantic city NJ on Sunday (hopefully)  sure the new rules of no dinning in  or drinks on casino floor. but ill make the best of it, since iv been stuck for so many months in my area.

If cases go up , i wouldnt blame some from banning us.  its a real shame this admin has reduced our passports to that of a 3rd world country.  However these countries still need tourism dollars badly.

We rebooked for April 2021. Was feeling confident on that but as the days/weeks go on, that confidence is dropping.

For what it's worth, you made a reasonable decision. (Unlike folks who booked June '20, then seemed stunned about cancellations and moved to August, then October .... honestly, we can't drum up sympathy for them). 
 

We won't know til the winter whether April stands a chance. Agreed about increased skepticism, though: It was bad enough with science warning of a potential second & worse wave of the virus. But the absolute derangement of so many Americans in the "No mask, no distancing" camp is worsening this first wave - and those people aren't learning a thing.

I have Sept 2021 Early Saver booked; used FCC and OBC.  As it's a 6 day cruise I'm going to add on a 4 day cruise, but at fully refundable.

Not feeling too confident and don't want more FCC and OBC if everything gets canceled.

Carnival may say they are confident that my October cruise will sail.  BUT my final payment date is this coming Sunday.  They want me to pay them $2K+ for this cruise, that anyone who looks at the state of this virus can deduce will not sail.

 

I will donate the $100 deposit to Carnival's bottom line, rather than loan them the $2K+ for however long it would take them to refund it once they deign to admit the cruise isn't going to happen.

 

If I "don't stress" until they say something, my funds will be tied up unecessarily.

The cruise hasn't been canceled yet and is still going on as planned. Sorry for any frustration this may be causing.

I get it, Carnival will make this cruise happen, the ships on the way to Turkey are just going for fun, and Carnival isn't scrapping them and all is well in the world.

I have the same scenario and that's pretty much my plan.
