I would assume that if you as the patient decide to use the app to confirm you have been vaccinated, that should imply your agreement to share the information.  If you don't want to share that info you don't go on a cruise, or on an airplane, or on a package holiday or to a restaurant or to a pub or to a ........................

Not my point.  The issue is that the information would be on the NHS app.  At present they don't have the right to transfer that to another app being used for a different purpose.  I understand it seems pedantic but it is also important.

People can only do with information what they said they would do when you gave it.  They can't alter the agreement later without a new agreement being in place.  Add to that the complication that the information held is not your information.  Its information about you which is a different thing.  The owner of that information is the health authority.

Andy   - good to see you back yet again.

Regardless of why you have  been  away, it's good that you are back.

Hopefully you have managed to get a beach hut in Walton for less than £100 a night in August for your summer holiday this year.

Thank you Wowzz but I haven't really been away, just lurking.

We booked our pet friendly caravan last year for the extra early bird discount, so no worries there.

I did just check and there is still some reasonably priced ones left, so if anyone wants to join us in a trip back to the fifties, come to Walton on the Naze... 😊

No, no Andy. You have for this all wrong. You should play the sympathy card and at least get breakfast in bed for one day .🤔

No chance of that Zap, off to work now, keeping the economy afloat single handedly... 😊(Despite my arm aching a bit)...

Johnson has instructed Gove to look into the merits of a “vaccine passport”  to quote

“team will consider scientific, moral, philosophical and ethical viewpoints around vaccine passports, and may ultimately choose to rule out the idea altogether.”

The report back is due by 21 June 2021, so unlikely any decision will be made by then, if they decide yes then it will need to go out to tender and be developed, test and made available both in app and paper form

Very alarming statistics released this morning show that there were 350,000 fewer new cancer diagnosis made last year than usual, as people heeded the ‘stay at home, protect the NHS’ line. Add to that all those who didn’t report with classic early warning heart and stroke issues and it is easy to see why esteemed experts such as Professor Karol Sikora (leading cancer specialist) warned last summer that more people will ultimately die as a result of not being willing, or able, to see their GP during the pandemic than as a result of the virus itself. Sadly, the third aim of the tag line (‘save lives’) seems to have been somewhat missed in the desire to ‘protect the NHS’.

If that is the decision we won't be going on any foreign holidays if the destination country require verifiable proof of vaccination

Unfortunatly almost all the popular destinations these days require this kind of proof. I mean we can hate it but this is what we have to deal with now if we want to travel.. at lesat we are not all required to go through vaccination yet.. which would make it even worse

Wife received her vaccine letter this morning, she is in group 7. All booked online for March 9th and May 31st for second jab.

I'm in group 8 so will have a bit longer to wait but need to avoid the 2nd jab being in the second week of June because we have booked a UK self catering break that week.

There are many different ways for this to happen.  If the decision is not to go with a "national" passport then you will need to provide your own evidence.  There are effectively two ways to do that.

Firstly,  request evidence from your GP.  They will very happily give you evidence of your vaccination status on headed paper with a signature.  They will do that happily as they will be charging you for that.  The price can be whatever they decide it to be at each individual practice as they are indivual businesses.

Or you can do a Subject Access request to your practice asking specifically only for your vaccination information.   They have to provide this free of charge but it can be on a plain A4 bit of paper with no signature and so therefore may not be acceptable to others.

I needed to do this for my vaccinator job as I am doing that role with another health board.  My GP provided it there and then given the circumstances but as I said it was on plain paper and unsigned which wasn't an issue for the health board but may be for the Greek national government.

The government did say a while ago that no vaccines are mandatory in the UK and that there was no plan to make the Covid vaccine mandatory.

I think that the requirement for a vaccination passport could lead to legal challenges because some people could have health problems that mean that they can't have the vaccine.

I personally do not see the problem of having a vaccine passport as for many years you have had to have proof of receiving vaccines for certain diseases before you can travel to some countries i.e. yellow fever. Dont hold the argument about human rights or big brother as these days you cannot travel 1 mile on any major road network or in any major town or city without being watched by cctv. If you have done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide I dont care about cctv and if a vaccine passport means I can travel to countries abroad then I am all for it.

The requirement for a vaccination passport will not be coming from the Government.  They may facilitate the introduction of one but there is no way they would ever go down the path of mandating it.   Therefore the passport requirement will be from companies or foreign governments.

There will be cases where not being able to have the vaccine for health reasons will mean you just can't do what it is you want to.  I have no doubt that will be seen as an infringement and tested in court.

Just had my Pfizer vaccine. Very well organised, very easy and no pain. Just hoping no side effects.

I now intend to relax on the sofa and do absolutely nothing this afternoon. Shame I haven’t trained the dog to make me a cup of tea!

For those that have been vaccinated, will the NHS website stop you from attempting to book another vaccination once you enter your name, DOB and post code?

If it does, then arguably that would be your proof that you had already been vaccinated, when asked to produce evidence!

I imagine Mr Johnson and Mr Gove will do the best for the population.

I have seen a suggestion somewhere that if a "certificate" or "passport" system is introduced to confirm your vaccination status for travel then there may be a default position retained for those who cannot have a vaccine for medical reasons. That could entail having a valid negative COVID test taken no more than 72hrs before travel and also a mandatory test on arrival at your destination.

I'm sure the countries who rely heavily on tourism will find a way to avoid excluding those who cannot have a vaccine on medical grounds. Of course that will also benefit the antivax conspiracy theorists as well but we will just have to live with that.

Personally I have no issues with the passport concept. Had to have typhoid, hepatitis and yellow fever jabs in the past to allow me to travel on business so I can't see the human rights/liberty issues with any of what is being suggested. I would be much more aggrieved by my human rights/safety being jeopardised by the antivax brigade insisting that they can behave as they like while denying the possibility that they will be putting others at risk.

I just don't see a problem in any of this. I will follow the advice my future wife gave me 45 years ago. Just do as I tell you, it will all work out fine.

No she told me to do that 45 years ago. There was an obnoxious Lady on a trip in Antigua who said to DW " gee, how have you managed to stay married for over 40 years ". I replied, she comes on Vacation with me and leaves her husband at home. That shut her up.🤣
