neverbeenhere Posted November 25, 2020 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2020 Canada is basically not be open to foreign travelers, so I would think the cruiseline wanted avoid the Mounted Police.
Kamloops50 Posted November 25, 2020 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2020 Princess only does some 10 day and under cruises from Vancouver in May and September. Nothing mid season.

The 14 days are two back to back 7 days, and mine just disappeared from my list. No official cancellation yet. FCD still shows applied to the crisue. joepeka Posted November 25, 2020 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2020 I just checked (but only May and June 2021) and there are 7-day itineraries from Vancouver to Whittier and return 7-day trips from Whittier to Vancouver. CDC has shutdown anything over 7 days (but I'm sure everyone knows that).
Av8tor Posted November 25, 2020 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2020 Not an expert, but I thought the 7-day RTs to Alaska were from Seattle, not Vancouver. Aren’t the VAN cruises 1-ways to/from Alaska?

Rare cr8tiv1 Posted November 26, 2020 #8 Share Posted November 26, 2020 It is my understanding that there are 7 day round trips from Seattle with a stop in Victoria. Mute point right now since Canada isn't allowing ships in. Round trip from Vancouver has always been back to back trips. Vancouver to Whittier (7 days), same reverse itinerary Whittier to Vancouver (7 days).
Italy52 Posted November 26, 2020 #9 Share Posted November 26, 2020 Our 14-day cruise to Alaska was just cancelled a few days ago. We still have a 7-day Seattle to Seattle that has not been cancelled by Princess. The cruise is late August and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the cruise is a "go." If not, then we will just scrap 2021 like we did for 2020 and rebook for 2022.
gmjc2 Posted November 26, 2020 #10 Share Posted November 26, 2020 Princess has a cruise Van-Van May 10th for 5 days ( Juneau/ Ketchikan) Also has a 7 day. On V to G.
Rare Kelownabccan Posted November 26, 2020 Author #11 Share Posted November 26, 2020 Thanks for the info.....early in the year they had the Sun Princess doing 7 day returns but they are all gone now....I think things will keep on changing so do not plan to rush into anything.....easier to get to Vancouver rather than Seattle for us..... earlydiner Posted November 29, 2020 #13 Share Posted November 29, 2020 Celebrity Eclipse does R/T Vancouver. We did it August of 19 and it was great. Had the same one booked with some friends July 20. We are in US but 65 minutes to Canada Place. Very nice. RSW

nini Posted November 30, 2020 #16 Share Posted November 30, 2020 As I understand it, there will be no Alaska cruises next year as long as Canada keeps their ports closed. Per Maritime law PVSA (Passenger Vessel Services Act of 1886 and The Merchants Act of 1920, Section 27 The Jones Act). The ship must call on a "foreign" port before returning to an American port for final disembarking. Therefore, even 7 day itineraries will not be permitted due to the inability to visit Victoria or even depart or arrive in Vancouver. And as long as the border is closed, it will not be possible to fly into SEATAC and take the train up to Vancouver, BC. In 2000, we drove there from Portland , Oregon which was really nice.
gmjc2 Posted December 5, 2020 #17 Share Posted December 5, 2020 As long as we can fly into Canada and the port of Vancouver is open then the Jones/PVSA does not apply. We shall see.

This seems strange to me. Besides, the ports are currently closed as well.
gmjc2 Posted December 5, 2020 #19 Share Posted December 5, 2020 It does seem ridiculous but is a fact. As for the Vancouver port not being open, hopefully it will be by May when we are booked!
nini Posted December 5, 2020 #20 Share Posted December 5, 2020 That is what I thought. If the Canadian ports are not open, then there will be no Alaska cruises.

Nope. We have a friend from Australia who is temporarily working in Canada. His son was flying from Australia to Canada to join him with a plane transfer at LAX. He was not allowed to continue to Canada on a flight from LAX and has had to remain in the USA.
gmjc2 Posted December 6, 2020 #22 Share Posted December 6, 2020 That is odd because I read an article about how people are allowed to fly into Canada and it is believed to be the cause of the upswing in cases there. Maybe it is only flights from the US they are stopping. The airline should have informed him that he could not make a connection in the US before he left Australia! Hopefully all straightened out by May!
Rare puppycanducruise Posted December 6, 2020 #23 Share Posted December 6, 2020 I thought you could fly into Canada if you were an essential worker or had immediate family here. And, you are supposed to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival. Of course, some people skipped the quarantine period.

TeaBag Posted December 6, 2020 #25 Share Posted December 6, 2020 i don't understand this. There have been planes flying in here all the time. I just checked today's schedule and there are planes arriving from LAX, SFO, SEA, DEN and more. They do have to quarantine here.
