memoak Posted February 2, 2021 #26 Share Posted February 2, 2021 I spent 15 days onboard one year where all the sports on tv were cricket and rugby

Nothing in the announcement even hints at such a possibility. Just your personal computing device or bet using your interactive cabin TV.

With regard to Australia, how about Australian Rules Football? DON AFL (Australian Rules) is extremely popular as is Rugby League. If there were a lot of Aussies on board we would be screaming for coverage of those in footy season. I would also like the Test cricket on and I could try and explain to US folk how a cricket match can go for 5 days. Yep, 5 days.

Princess is pretty good about showing games, both on your TV and various places on the ship. On Holland a couple years ago, the only place was a tiny TV in the casino!
cruzsnooze Posted February 2, 2021 #30 Share Posted February 2, 2021 It will have to have a venue since many people don't use the medallion or a phone or app's and you don't think Princess wants to loose their revenue.

When you have no other way to bet on sports except via the app, you use the app, and I think that's what they're hoping for.

Rare richstowe Posted February 3, 2021 #34 Share Posted February 3, 2021 I have never been on a ship that didn't have lots of "extra" bars ........ If it keeps cruise prices 'reasonable' ... and in full agreement on letting others help keep base prices lover . I have a problem when they take away existing "free" amenities and replace them with extra fee options . This is not that . Plus it may add better sports viewing options . 100% positive .

There are some places on land where Internet betting is allowed. Think of this as Internet betting on the ship. At home people are willing to do the wagering without adding extra TV sets to view multiple sports activities at the same time or even upgrade cable/satellite packages to have access to all of these sports activities. So on the ship, people that like sports betting will do it just like at home with Internet betting. No room dedicated to it. No extra TV sets.

Wonder if they'll pay Vegas odds or increase the house cut like they do with slots That’s a great question! I can’t wait to see the answer. neverbeenhere Posted February 3, 2021 #37 Share Posted February 3, 2021 Of course, special "at Sea" odds. Ocean air makes passengers smarter, so they need to have a bit of extra margin. 😀

My gut says they'll need a dedicated space that is only closed when in port. But this is only because we're assuming that they'll have TVs to watch the events. They very well may not. The other option is to keep everything on the app, which would serve Princess well as I don't think too many folks were gambling with the app in it's current form. To me you put it where you would anywhere, in the casino. The casino is not fun or entertaining to me. Line it with TVs showing stats and various sports you could use a small corner for taking and placing bets in person if they need that.
