Good morning, all! All Caregivers deserve to be treated to their favourite form of Chocolate Mint today! The meal and drink sound good. The sun has broken through for a brief glorious moment before the rain sets in for the rest of the day. @dfishim so glad your outlet issues had an easy fix! @cat shepardsay ‘ Walla Walla red blend’  five times. If you can’t, it may be time to stop pouring refills. @cruisemom42Happy Birthday!

A year ago today the Amsterdam took us to Pitcairn Island, home of the descendants of the HMS Bounty mutineers. We couldn’t go ashore, but the residents came out to us in longboats and sold carvings, handicrafts, honey, etc. from tables set up around the pool. F1782D5C-5FA8-4F36-986D-B67135550524.thumb.jpeg.b9a2f6336b9a16fdbaa500c2fa051cb7.jpeg

Approaching Pitcairn Island. A cartographic error placed the island 180 nautical miles from its actual location. This saved the mutineers from discovery when the British Navy came searching for them, using incorrect charts.

The first time the Amsterdam flew the yellow flag of Practique. Once the sign of quarantine, it now means the captain has declared the ship free of contagion and requests permission to land/ anchor.

My son the optician dropped by the other day and I asked him if there were any glasses with a no-fog coating, he said no.  I think that would be a great invention!

Ann, have you tried the shaving cream trick?  I’ve seen a number of people report that it stops glasses from fogging up.

Shaving cream?  I’ve used dish detergent for my glasses (and diving mask).  Works well.

Good afternoon.  After a long and busy day yesterday, we slept in this morning, and I've been playing catch-up ever since.  While we were at Costco, we upgraded our phones to 5G.  We were up late last night trying to get them set-up.  These phones are the same brand, but work a little differently, so there is a learning curve.

Caregivers deserve all the appreciation they can get. When my mother was sick, we had a wonderful lady who took care of her, and my father and me, too.  Later, my stepmother took wonderful care of my father.

 I have mint chocolate chip ice cream in the freezer.

@cruisemom42  Happy Birthday.

So far, we have not had a big reaction to our second shot, and I doubt we will since it been more than 24 hours since the jab.  We only experienced mildly sore arms, but nothing to really matter.

I'm thinking about @65 Gator and @Himself who haven't posted for a while.  I hope @65 Gator is just real busy with vaccine clinics

Hey there...  I'm still above ground but just this minute returned from another marathon vaccine clinic.  We used every vial of our allotment.  Back again Monday to do another "second dose" clinic.  We only have one more hospital clinic after that since the health department has rented the old K-Mart building and will be doing all first and second dose clinics...  I have some catching up to do with the Daily and it is on my list for tomorrow morning.

We appreciate you and all those who give the shots and otherwise man the clinics.  In Phoenix, the state health department has the system down and running smoothly.  We gave them all the necessary information when we registered for the first shot, and it is in their system.  Everyone we encountered yesterday, was friendly and helpful, and we did our best to show our appreciation.

Happy Birthday cruisemom42!

Lots to celebrate today including the second jab for my 96 yr DM.

The temps rose just enough for her to be outside without freezing for this big event. Fingers crossed that everyone who gets this stays healthy.

Roy, still sending good thoughts for your consult on Monday to bring you a quick and safe solution.

Thanks to you and Rich for the daily, and to everyone for the sharing and caring.

We drove out to Butchart's for lunch.  It was quite crowded, one license plate each from Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta , and one from Washington state, who maybe was on his way to Alaska, via Vancouver Island.... ( Lol, the Ontario car had a paper on the back window saying "Please be kind.  We love you.")  The Blue Poppy cafeteria restaurant has been closed during the pandemic, and they have transformed it into a gorgeous indoor garden, with ponds, trees and now the bulbs are blooming - in contrast with the outdoors, where everything is still shrouded in snow.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

This morning was snow shoveling, laundry and bread baking.

I certainly salute National Caregivers Day and Iwo Jima Day; I like Chocolate Mint (candy and ice cream).

I think dinner will be pasta, although not tortellini.

Sunday we may get above freezing for the first time in a couple of weeks. Yay! But then more snow.

Some maybe good news - since I got my first shot from the county, rather than a pharmacy, they say they reserved 2nd shots. So hopefully it won't be an issue getting it.

@cruisemom42 Happy Birthday!  🎉 🍰

@mamaofami Ugh, it shouldn't be this hard to get an appointment!

@Himself Welcome home

@Seasick Sailor Fingers crossed for not much damage.

Prayers to the Care List and cheers to the celebration list.

Stay safe, social distance and wear your mask.

Below a pic of my bread.

I love the primulas in this photo.  This week Save-On Foods had 4" pots of primulas for $1.99 each, so DH and I went and bought 6 of them; 4 yellow, 2 orange.  I've transplanted them into 2 larger pots so we have something blooming inside when it's solid white outside.  The nice thing about primulas is that they never seem to die - which is good for me, because I've killed 8 air plants.

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Okay. So how did you get the spiral pattern (so evenly) on those?

They’re gorgeous. As my Dad would say, “They look good enough to eat.”

@Horizon chaser 1957, you just sold me a cruise to Tahiti. I’ve been interested based on so many blogs. Your post put me over the edge. Now to wait for Covid to get under control before I book.

Gosh, I’m homesick for a ship.

(By the way, did anyone find Veendam’s promenade deck that was missing in my dream last week.)

Thanks. They do their 2nd rise in a banneton/brotform proofing basket -  the loaf is inverted into the proofing basket. The basket is made of coiled rattan and creates the spiral pattern on the bread.

Wow, thanks for the many birthday wishes -- I don't want to forget anyone so I'm not going to @ you all, but you've added a little extra cheer to my day!

Now, since the sun is officially over the yard-arm and it's after 5, I'm off to decant my Brunello. All I have to do is figure out the correct wine glass:

Dear Rich, thank you for the Daily. It lifts my spirits.

Roy you are in my prayers. Good morning sensational sisters and Daily-ites.

I started the morning filling my 5 gallon buckets.. no water for 1 week now.

Filled the bird feeders and worrying that our hummingbirds have not shown.

It's sunny and will be 39 high today and starting a warming trend. I heard a scraping chipping sound and looked out to see our sweet neighbors,  friends and Good Samaritan's chipping ice away from our drive and walkway! We are so grateful and blessed!

Allen and I are ready for whatever comes. Hoping and praying for a slow pipe melt, but prepared to call USAA if we find damage.  Just hoping something happens soon!

Praying for all of those in harm's way and hoping this horrid weather ends and food comes to our grocery stores!

God Bless!!

Joy  I  am  happy  you  have  such  lovely  neighbors. I  really  admire  your  ability  to  take  care  of  things in  spite  of  hardships. I  hope  all  is  well  soon.      Terry
