They must see the rest of us in bathing suit coverups/tshirts, etc., pool shoes/slides, etc. but still insist on wearing these items meant for stateroom use? I wouldn't wear my bathrobe or slippers to a coffee shop or pool in Canada, so why on a ship? Maybe I'm strange but I don't see this as any more offensive or odd than those that wear wear swimwear or coverups (usually not enough) in any of the eating venues. Then again I'm pretty much an anti pool, hot tub person as I see them as cesspools of germs. I won't even start talking about swim outfits that shouldn't be worn, whole nother subject. There's robes in the cabin for use during the cruise---they are not souvenirs to take home. Otherwise, you put on a pair of shorts, a tshirt , etc, etc--- Not too hard to do ??? Actually, when I posted that, I certainly wasn't saying that it was offensive. It just seems strange. Another poster said that maybe it's people who have forgotten a coverup. That could be it, although most people who travel to a hot place bring a bathing suit and something to cover it with. Regardless, it's not a big thing - just something strange I notice on every cruise with several people each time.

My parents still have a collection of Sitmar "swizzle sticks". Goes well with all of their "Captain's club" etched glassware (given to past passengers). They just happened to be on the cruise where it was announced that Sitmar had been acquired by Princess cruise lines. They said the branded merch was flying out of the shops. STLCRUISIN Posted February 28, 2021 #131 Share Posted February 28, 2021 This was several years ago on the Majesty Of The Seas but there was a women sunning topless on a lounge chair on the pool deck. About 20 feet away there had to have been at least 10 guys crammed into the hot tub....all looking in one direction...at her. It wasn't odd but was just so hilarious with them all jammed together that is was obvious why they were there.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted February 28, 2021 #132 Share Posted February 28, 2021 I can't really say I've seen anything extremely odd. I guess there was that one guy who dressed up as a full-on Jack Sparrow for most of the cruise... Now my sister and BIL got a lot of laughs over something they found in their cabin (either on Celebrity or Royal, can't remember which). At the very back of the closet shelf they found a full bottle of limoncello -- but the bottle was shaped like a certain part of the male anatomy! Don't know if someone bought it as a gift and thought better of it, or legitimately forgot it.
Rare garyl62 Posted February 28, 2021 #133 Share Posted February 28, 2021 Just a couple years ago we took a "Behind the Scenes" tour on the Equinox and when we got to the bridge we all went to the port side and stood around the control pod while Captain Kate came and talked for a few minutes. She was explaining things and said "if you look down through the window in the floor you get a good view as we come in to dock, or if you look out the aft windows you get a good view down the side of the ship" Well I looked aft and there a guy on his balcony just about 4 cabins down sitting in his robe (and nothing else) with his feet up on the rail reading a newspaper. Believe me, I got a good view but it wasn't of the side of the ship. I wondered if Captain Kate knew he was there as I'm sure it wasn't the first day he sat like that. Rare keesar Posted February 28, 2021 #134 Share Posted February 28, 2021 How about the Captain pulling up to the wrong pier in San Juan? Then having to go into reverse and correct the error.

Rare cruisestitch Posted February 28, 2021 #136 Share Posted February 28, 2021 I forgot about another strange thing I witnessed, not on Celebrity but on Royal Caribbean. There was an Elvis fan, not one of the entertainers, who came on board with at least a dozen costumes and wore a different one every day. Complete with capes. phabric Posted February 28, 2021 #138 Share Posted February 28, 2021 (edited) I saw a man with green suit (jacket and pants) that was covered with pink flamingos, he even had flamingo socks. The wife had a flamingo shirt and skirt and plastic flamingo sunglasses. They wore them on formal night. After seeing them, I have noticed a few others wearing them on other ships, they must be able to purchase in the Southern States. OK so not an on-board a ship thing. However, years ago riding the subway to work, those of you who ride the subway will know that the seats are fairly narrow. Well a very large person wanted to sit, understandably, and choose the empty seat between me and another rider, as she sat, she had no choice but to occupy part of my seat and the rider on the other side. As she settled in she announced, "we all paid, we all sit", I chuckled silently but the other person said, "well I hoped they charged you double". phabric Posted March 1, 2021 #145 Share Posted March 1, 2021 I was on a cruise with 300 gay men (Bear Club, I think). On formal night, one man had a tux jacket on the upper half of his body and a white dress (like a wedding dress) on the bottom half. He had long dreadlocks. bobndee Posted March 1, 2021 #146 Share Posted March 1, 2021 Several years ago I was on a cruise where I saw a woman who brought her two small dogs on board with her. Each day the dogs wore a different costume. She carted them around the ship in a small stroller. If someone were in the way of where she wanted to go, she would use the stroller to push them out of her way.

I think we may have been on the same cruise! We booked a cruise with Celebrity along with a few friends. Celebrity never told us that over 300 bears and a huge drag queen group was also booked on this sailing. We found out on our roll call. We thought “no big deal..we are really nonjudgmental” so we went without any hesitation. We did end up seeing some really usual sights..especially when we went to the disco one evening (which unbeknownst to us it was turned into a huge foam party!). 😃 we were quickly escorted to the door and told this was a private party!!! Umm..yes...that needed to be Private and doors should be locked! Overall it was a great cruise but it was disappointing that different venues were closed every day and night to accommodate the private parties. To be fair, those groups paid a lot of money to be on the cruise so I’m glad they appeared to be having fun!

Tigrou Posted March 1, 2021 #149 Share Posted March 1, 2021 14-day cruise, seated at a table of 6 solo travellers, one man would only eat apple strudel. Not for dessert, it was his full meal each evening. On the first night when the server tried to hand him a menu he refused to take it, loudly demanding apple strudel. When both servers (understandably) looked confused, he just kept repeating it louder. Having ascertained that it was definitely all he wanted, they got it for him. On a few nights when he didn't turn up for dinner, the servers would ask "Where is strudel man?"!
