It's going to be some irony when after a year of being forced to stay home, many choose to stay home willingly because we refuse to pay post-Covid prices.

Going to be interesting to see if the post-Covid pricing persists once the bonus unemployment expires.

There's some pretty good casino offers out there. I know that doesn't do you any good if you don't have them.

Nope dont get them. Just kinda makes me mad tbh that some are sailing so cheap. Makes me want to avoid carnival when I find I'm on a big casino play off. I hit the biggest one early nov 2018? I think, and 800 of my closest friends, all the casino players were priority. Jealous. Just makes full price harder to swallow. I do my gambling in the stock market, the casino never appealed to me. Maybe that means carnival and I arent a match any longer. That last casino cruise was not as good.

I wouldn't say they are sailing cheap. I'm sure they spent way more than the cruise cost in the casino. LOL

All the cruise lines with casino's offer the players something to get them back. It's not just Carnival.

We are both platinum and get casino offers but we usually try and avoid the sailings that are premier or ultra just because of how packed the casino can get.

I think was a ultra cruise I was on. My friend came and gambled but said she could barely get to a machine. She didnt like the cruise either. Her first and last cruise. We also had a rocky cruise so it wasnt only the casino. Also a issue with our roll call excursions. She did the slot pull and had trouble getting any money from it etc. Too many priority for my tastes.

And if the majority of ships in the fleet go the 95% route, you'll be battling for one of those precious unvaccinated 5% slots with all of the under 11 crowd.  Better hope that some of the ships go the test route so that you'll be guaranteed a spot.

We’ll be doing land based vacations for a while.  I just want to wait and see how these vaccines work during flu season.

Looking into January cruise on Princess but noticing that some categories sold out.  Seems like people banking on a return to normal cruising as the system never seems to ask me if I’ve been vaccinated.

I thought we would have gotten a deal and have the pick of the litter on ppm selection

Anyone know if Carnival experiencing same thing ?

Here is my question, political nonsence aside pro or agenst doesn't matter with this question, with the CDC lifting restictions on Vacanated passangers, how will the cruise lines be able to tell wether you are Vacanated or not from Flordia ect, would the non vacanated sailing have to be concedered all non vacanated people?

Very good question. My pure speculation - cruise lines would allow people to upload vax proof if they wish (purely voluntary) or take a Covid test within so many hours of departure and present that evidence during check-in (or something to that effect). The line would input this info into your profile so that if the ship ports in a country that require vax, only those vaccinated could disembark, etc. Now - whether the cruise lines will require everyone to continue to wear masks indoors, I suspect they would - but who knows?

Hopefully, if the strict mask rules are still in effect when cruising begins from the US, Carnival will have cruises for vaccinated only and cruises for everyone.  That way the vaccinated only cruises can allow for the removal of masks.  I think it would be impossible for a cruise line to have different rules for different people on the same cruise.

Question: If you are fully vaccinated, why would it matter if you come in contact with a person not vaccinated?  Does not your vaccination prevent you from COVID?

I don't think people who are vaccinated (most of them) are afraid of getting covid from anyone.  I think that most feel like since they have been vaccinated, that they aren't a threat to anyone and should not have mask requirements.

Then the other thing is that if there is any kind of severe outbreak on a ship, it is much more likely to happen with unvaccinated people.  People who are vaccinated want to take off their masks and don't want their cruise interrupted by severe covid cases.

My favorite Carnival Cruise Nuts hello. Although we are starting to get vaccinated there are still those that refuse. I have no idea why? Until we all get vaccinated I would advise the Cruise lines not to cruise. Please remember that Covid has not mysteriously disappeared. It is still with us. Also you still have those "Criminal" elements that are purchasing the vaccine cards on the internet. Bad decision that could get a bunch of people very sick.

No Documented Vaccine No Cruise. A No Brainer.

The unvaccinated could come in contact with each other and spread the virus among them. If this causes the cruise to be cut short or ports not to allow the ship to dock, that would negatively affect every passenger including those who have been vaccinated.

But even the vaccinated can still be infected with COVID. It’s just less of a possibility and the symptoms tend to be milder.

The vaccine does not prevent 100% of cases, and I have never an expert suggest that it does.

Ports can still require vaccinations, testing, etc. The US, the CDC, individual state, etc. have no authority over other nations.

Cruise lines are not required, afaik, to allow anyone who tests positive to remain on the ship. They could put you and your party off at any port who would accept the party.

Someone with mild symptoms probably wouldn't even see the ship's doctor.  Even if they did, they could easily just be quarantined.  It's a severe case that could make them scramble to figure out what to do with the person.  I don't think that will happen if they test all of the unvaccinated before they enter the ship.

A person is unlikely to go from testing negative to needing hospitalization in less than 7 days.  Hopefully, high risk people will be vaccinated, then it reduces the odds even further.

Work has been done on wearable devices that can detect covid even if there are no obvious symptoms  It makes sense to combine these with a room key and also a way to do contact tracing should you be in close proximity to someone who tests positive.

There are also rapid tests to detect if someone has been exposed to covid as recently as a few hours prior (like in a port).

Ain't technology grand?

I missed these pieces of tech news, so thanks for the update.  I heard about dogs being used to screen for the virus and their noses are super sensitive to whatever is making the victim smell different.  I even heard about bees being used to screen (they stick their little tongues out when they find a positive 😛).

There will never be a 100% safe situation. If that is what is needed, the cruise lines might as well declare bankruptcy or go into other businesses. And we should all go back into our caves wearing hazmat suits.

Not going to happen. Cruises will not be cut short. That was in the beginning. We know how to deal with this now. Happy cruising for everybody!

How can you say that? What will happen if there are multiple cases on a ship? Haven't some of the cruises in Europe been cut short?

Same way some poster keep saying cruises will be cut short. I just push the right keys and it appears on the screen. Plus I follow the science and I refuse to live in fear. The same science everybody was screaming we had to follow when it said lock everything down, now says you are safe if you are vaccinated. You won't be affected by the virus. Enjoy being able to do things unrestricted.
