Hopefully most of us still are but I must admit,  the thought of no masks anywhere brings a smile ( that you can see) to my face.😁

We ate at the Grill last night. One of those Silversea magical evenings where all the stars align. Good food, good wine, good weather, good music and terrific surroundings.

Beautiful — the colors are amazing. I recall hearing the ship had about 300 on board. Have you needed restaurant reservations at that capacity, or can you just dine where you like?

There are those aboard who do not adhere to ANY of the rules.

For whatever reason they believe they do not have to comply.

They don't wear masks.

They wear hats when they should not.

They wear shorts when they should not.

They wear blue jeans when they should not.

They seat themselves in La Terrazza.

Even if they are asked to take off the hat or wear the masks or dress appropriately.

They don't.

I could go on and on.

But I will not.

I am stating the obvious.

A lot of this is not new.

It has been addressed over and over

What is new is a pandemic.

I leave it there.

We are on the first two Moon cruises.

Agree with spins on the 2nd leg.

Did not witness this on maiden voyage.

Sadly, I also leave it there.

Hopeful, this is not the new norm…

That old saying "money doesn't by class"......well, it is true.  Sadly, it is part of life.....there are people on ---- pick a cruise line..........that think the rules do not apply.  Sounds like some of those people are on SS.

The world is full of entitled fools, we and SS unfortunately have to live with it. By the way my better half asks to be remembered to you.

Thanks.  Seabourn Ovation is currently sailing with 100% vaccination in the Greek Islands as well, and mask is apparently not required anywhere on board.  Therefore, Silversea is more prudent and has more strict protocols, which, on one hand, seems unnecessary on a ship with 100% vaccination.

Not unnecessary at all, just more sensible.

Sorry to hear that some people have lost or forgotten their manners. Then again, they probably never had any to begin with.

Tuscon Guy, yes my knuckles still hurt when I think of it.lol

A lot of people do have class; it’s just all low

We have had reservations at La Terrazza and the Grill. I always make them before the cruise.

And to address the crew and mask wearing, they have been adherent to the rules. Even in the intense heat, they are wearing masks. God bless each and every one of them.

And regards to your wife Mr. Silver.

Greetings,

I have been a lurker on these boards for years, maybe a decade. Finally registered. Not sure why I waited so long?

I’m a frequent floater on Silversea.

Will be on the July 8 Moon voyage.

Spins, can’t thank you enough for all the posts, insight, info, time and energy you put into posting. I’m 200+ days, but so helpful for the first post-Covid cruise.

Now I may have asked if they were friends of the former owner, but clearly, they won't be. There are some selfish entitled people out there. Are any of the crew asking them to adhere to policy? They should - particularly in regard to masks. Can you imagine what would be said if there was anyone tested positive and the realisation was that rules on masks ignored!

The only "covid" sailing I've done to date was a month ago and I have to say, people had been wearing masks. I also have to admit, on 2 occasions, I left the room without and went scurrying back when I got to the lift and the penny dropped when seeing my reflection. There are times, when it can be accidental, but that's clearly not the case here by the sounds.

Out of curiosity are there any guests from the UK? I suspect there wont be. Italy has imposed a 5 day quarantined for UK passport holders on arrival and Croatia, Greece and Montenegro are amber meaning everyone one will need to quarantine on return for 5 days.

Red is 10 days... bang goes my Dawn cruise with Puru, Equador, Panama on the red list and quarantine is at a cost of £1750 and could be expanded to 20 days of no negative result is gained! All other countries are amber

I was about to book another today from Malta to the Dalmation coast on Viking Venus. Malta is about to go Green - but visited are not. Just when it feels like things are getting back to normal, this virus and its restrictions have a habit of reminding it spreads if you don't respect it!  Excuse the rant Spins!

Don't let them get you down.

I guess the only thing I would notice or really care about is the flouting of the mask rules because it's health-related and can have consequences that affect us all.  The past year has crystallized what is truly important.

Sad to hear .Are there a large proportion of Silversea first timers on the cruise?

What are the staff doing about the appalling behaviour you are having to put up with?

More importantly what are Senior Officers doing about the unacceptable behaviour you are experiencing?

Hope things improve for you.

There are plenty of pax from UK and some from Germany and US and France and I also hear Spanish being spoken.

Concur about mask wearing.

Every day our temperature is taken.

We will be rapid tested again prior to disembarkation.

If a pax is walking about without a mask they are given a new one to wear.

Crew are being attentive to providing masks to pax without one or who have "forgotten" but crew aren't everywhere.

I am enjoying this cruise.

I believe Silversea is doing their best.

I am focused on the good.

Since we are on the topic of rules and courtesy, can I ask a question about my pet peeve? There seems to be a relatively recent “custom” of grabbing and keeping unreserved, choice spots (from seats at a graduation, to loungers at a resort pool) by placing  an item on the desired spot and then leaving, often for hours.  Is this common on Silversea cruises?  And if all the pool loungers have been grabbed in this way (by folks who seem absent from the pool area), is it a felony to remove the item and use the lounger?

Many, many posts ago I realized this thread was all over the place.

Its totally fine.

I recognize we are desperate to cruise. We want life to be as before.

We have been through some terrible times.

This has never been my thread as it as open for comments and questions to all.

Cruise critic has never been about insults, disparaging remarks or personal attacks.

I tried to be responsive to questions as best I could.

As the cruise winds down for us let me just say it has been lovely. Crew are fabulous as always.

Attention to detail and sublime service.

Ship is beautiful.

I hope that any of you thinking to take a Silversea cruise will not think twice. Yes you may have to wear a mask or carry your vax card on an excursion.

A small, very small, inconvenience in these times.
