Good Morning. Thanks for the daily and the lists and extra thanks Rich for the explanations.

We will, certainly, enjoy our dog today.

The meal suggestion looks good. The recipe for the flaming Dr. Pepper didn't excit me - I prefer my beer NOT to be on fire.

Be safe everyone, especially to all the the NE who might encounter Henri. One good thing about it is that Jacqui will not have to water her garden today.

Good morning everyone.  Thank you @richwmnfor the Daily and the explanations.  Thanks also to @rafinmdfor the lists and for including himself on the rotation.  Prayers for those who are in need, and cheers for the celebrants.  Interesting drink of the day, and the menu suggestion sounds good.

Happy Anniversary @grapau27  Graham and Pauline!  Can't wait to see what your celebration included.

Have not been to Santarem yet.  It's on the itinerary for my next cruise (if I get there).  We only have a couple of weeks before cancellation penalties are incurred on that cruise and we have heard nothing from HAL on whether they plan to go ahead or not.  South American countries don't appear to be too safe still. 🤷‍♀️

LOL - yes I do 😉. (I won’t do the garden but some of my planters sure need it).  We don’t see Henri until later this week - probably Tuesday .

I have a friend that attempted to quit smoking numerous times without success. Then he realized he was really good at something that might help. His skill was procrastination. He still hasn't quit smoking, but he has procrastinated having that next cigarette for over ten years.

Good Sunday Morning Dailyite Family!

Thank you @richwmn, @rafinmd, @dfish, @cat shepard@summer slope for your dedication and to all others who post here.

@grapau27 - Happy Anniversary to you & Pauline.  Best wishes for many more.

Hugs to those on the care list and a toast to those on the celebratory list.

We were in Santarem on January 10, 2014, cruising from Manaus to Fort Lauderdale on the Pacific Princess.  The video below shows how they load vehicles onto the river boats 😱.  (The audio has been edited out.)

Good morning, thanks for the Daily!  I can be an angel or a devil, depends on the day.  Yay for tooth fairies - according to DS, the cost of a tooth can be a loonie ($1) or a toonie($2), depending on what's in the change compartment of the car at the time.  We love our pets - only had 1 at a time, but they know they're loved and cared for.

@grapau27Happy 40th Anniversary to you and your lovely bride, Pauline!

Yesterday's graveside service went well - the sun was shining brightly, the birds were singing, and all went well until some idiot's cell phone went off and he felt the need to answer it and have a conversation without lowering his voice.  Honestly, some people are absolutely boorish!  That nearly brought out the devil in me, but I held my tongue.

It's a cloudy, cool day here on the frozen tundra, which hopefully means rain as well - daily watering is getting a little old.  LOL  On the way back from the cemetery yesterday we were talking about all the potted plants we have and DH asked if we were going to over-winter the Dipladenias (he really likes them) - I told him they've been given a stay of execution, so we'll have to make sure there's room for them in one of the downstairs bedroom windows.

I was going to start procrastinating today, but think I'll wait a while.  Friends of ours have been to today's port and brought back photos of the pink dolphins - they're most unusual looking, almost creepy.

I like today's menu suggestions, but have some pork chops thawing in the fridge.  They will go into the oven later this afternoon for a pork chop rice casserole dish that DH always enjoys - I like it because it makes a big batch that can be frozen in portions for later use.  Accompanied by a side salad, that's what will be on our dinner table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do.  Extra prayers for the family of the young Cape Bay Beach Patrol trainee - I can't imagine what his family is going through.  Also extra prayers for those in the path of Henri.  Clinking the glasses together to celebrate all on the happy list.  Stay safe, be well, wash your hands, wear your masks, and hydrate!

Smooth Sailing!   🙂🙂🙂

Gerry

Blessed Sunday Dailyites. Rich thank you for your hard work.

Happy Anniversary to Graham and his lovely wife Pauline.

Prayers for all on our prayer list and praying for our Roy for good results.

It is chicken and a big garden salad for dinner tonight. Got some beautiful veggies at the Farmers market yesterday.

Last night we had a great time. 70 people filled indoors and out. We had tapas, and a band played music for 2 hours. We danced and had so much fun.

Have a great day. Prayers and Cheers

Good Morning All,

Looks like we have cloud cover again today. And for that, I am thankful. Will put today’s recipe aside along with yesterday’s, as I’m about to set up the slow cooker for pulled pork. That will be an easy dinner. We have a late afternoon appointment with a landscape designer.

Our grass inexplicably died several weeks ago (probably related to insufficient water-a pipe was leaking), so DH is willing to dig up the yard and rearrange sprinklers and drip irrigation. We’re in the queue for a patio & built in BBQ- in about 16 weeks.

The rest of the day here will be church, a ride on my newly tuned bike, and packing for a trip to Grand Canyon, leaving next week.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone. I slept in this morning expecting to wake to tons of predicted rain, but all is quiet here. We did have a thunder storm last night but I pretty much slept through it.

My daughter and her husband made the 12 hour round trip to drop their son off in Rochester yesterday and all went well.

Happy 40th anniversary,Pauline and Graham. That’s certainly a number to celebrate.

Tomorrow the agency will let us know if they have a vaccinated aide to replace ours when she leaves at the end of the month. I’m not holding out much hope. The good news is that Sam is getting better and better and hopefully will make a full recovery. This week he sees the neurologist who followed him in the hospital and a eye specialist .

Praying for my family and friends in the path of Henri in Montauk , NYC, and New England. Hoping everyone stays safe.

Good morning, everyone!

@grapau27 A very happy anniversary to Graham and Pauline.

I stayed up way too late last night and will probably go back to bed for a nap this morning.   We received notice last night that our boarding time was moved up to noon from 1:00 pm.  Sounds good to us!

Today's meal sounds good to me.  It reminds me a bit of the pasties in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  https://food52.com/recipes/76077-new-zealand-style-beef-cheddar-pies

Good morning.  We have been to Santarem twice on the o;d Regal Princess in 2006, as we did a b2b roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale.  Flying into and out of Manaus, unless you are on a charter flight, is difficult.  Besides, who could pass up an extra 14 days on an ship, even if it is not a BHB.

The first time we stopped in Sanatrem, we took a tour out on the river, which was very high as it was the end of the rainy season.  Houses that are on land during the dry season are more than waterfront property during the rainy season.

Not sure what type of fish this is, but it looks like a member of the catfish family.

IMG_0215.thumb.JPG.c23eb48cb14a90b8819103e3c679c0d0.JPG

On the boat, they gave us primative fishing grear baited with red meat.  This is the one that DH caught, but it was a small piranha

One lady caught this big guy.  The crew filleted it and cooked it.  We were each given a bite along with some manioc.  The fish tasted like perch and the manioc was hard and nearly broke teeth.

Heading back down rthe Amazon, we stopped at Sanatrem again.  That day, four of us hired a taxi to take us to Belterra, one of Henry Ford's rubber plantations.  I posted pictures of Belle Terra on an earlier Daily.

Our first stop was to watch the locals prepare manioc.  After our experience on the river cruise, we did not taste it again.  Besides being hard, I don't remember it having much taste.
