Very large OBC - options?

1) by a passenger or 300 a drink

2) cash out through the casino many times in “small” amounts

3) re-evaluate why you originally paid too much for the cruise. 😊

How do you cash out in casino?

My TA is checking if the kids can be upgraded from an inside to a JS with the credit.

I hear you on the initial cost…. Thanksgiving in a JS dropped well below what we have paid in previous years. And we checked prior to final payment.  I guess the rules killed it for the families.

I forgot

walk around gloating that you just won $3,000

have someone follow you back to stateroom

Be very sorry you were gloating

spend the next day identifying people on video surveillance and talking with police

tell spouse, next time we’ll buy the 300 passengers drinks.

😊

RCL won't let you use OBC for upgrades.   I may be wrong.   They should....   You also can't use it for Next Cruise deposits.

I think an OBC from repricing can be used to upgrade our room. But there are no GS or better available.  That leaves upgrading the kids and they aren’t allowing that.

with the diamond drinks I don’t really need drink packages. Kids like the main dining, so dining is out.

we always buy junk, but never more than $100 or so.

Wow!  That is a majorly LARGE OBC...and it makes the one I got a few years ago look small since it was only $750.  So I would advise you NOT to prepurchase anything before your cruise - no drink package, no dining, no internet, no Spa services, no excursions, etc.  Wait and buy/book those things on your boarding day and charge them to your account so they'll go against your OBC.  (If you've already pre-purchased stuff you can call and cancel and get a refund for what you've bought, then re-buy it onboard and charge it to your account, thus using your OBC.)  Also do not prepay gratuities - charge those to your account against your OBC too.

I happened to be on Allure when I got a big OBC, and I also  had OBC from other sources, so I had about $1100 to spend aboard.  There was a Britto Gallery on the ship at that time.  I bought some new luggage...Romero Britto luggage with flamingos and palm trees...and it was even on sale so I didn't even get gouged on the price as it was a little less than what it cost on land.  It's not the most efficient luggage I've ever owned, but it's definitely the prettiest.  My husband got a watch.  Anyway, the point is to check the shops on your ship.  You might find some stuff you like, a great new watch, or some nice jewelry.  Also, if you enjoy wine, you can order a nice bottle with dinner each night and charge it to your account.

And, most importantly, as another poster advised, be sure to gamble from your account.  Repeatedly.   They will charge you a fee each time for charging casino credit to your account (3%?  I don't know for sure) but you can play the slots, or whatever you like, for a little while, then cash out and get cash from the casino.

Unfortunately you cannot use this kind of nonrefundable OBC to book another cruise, even if you book one onboard.  It would be so great if that were possible, but it doesn't work that way.

The objective is to not leave any OBC in your account, so be creative and figure out how to spend your money and/or get $$ back from the casino.  Aim to owe Royal a little...like $50 or less... at the end.  Have a great cruise!!

My LOTS Thanksgiving cruise dropped after final payment.  We have $1600 OBC on one room and $1250 on another.  Even after booking some dining, internet package, drinks, maybe a massage, I plan on cashing out at the Casino and sending that cash directly to my TA for balance on my February 8 day Allure.

If you are on the Mariner, I'd be happy to be gifted a bottle of caymus or some Macallan 25.  You know, if you have no other options.  😎

Before you "transfer" all $3000 to the slot machine, I suggest you do $50 first to make sure the process works. On Edge, if we "transferred" money to the machine, it had to be used. If you did a "room charge" , you could cash it out right away, get the ticket and go to the cashier. We did it to use up some extra OBC -- but nothing like that amount.

So you're talking about an X ship...How would you cash out using a "room charge". I'll be on the Eclipse May 2023 and have a bit of their OBC.

I’m an accountant, I don’t use the casino either. I let others pay to play.  I use it to get cash back from OBC.

Used to be

stick card in machine

pick four number pin

transfer money to casino account

make sure you cash out prior to the end of the last night.

On any given slot machine, one of the options to load credits is to do a “room charge”. It basically just charges the onboard account . Looks and acts like any other charge, like liquor or spa or a drink.

If you have OBC posted to the onboard account, you are actually using that OBC, adds credits to slot machine—— which you immediately cash out, take the ticket to cashier and get real money.

Just need to put your key card in machine first and follow prompts on the small screen on the machine to get $$ onto the machine.

Pin number is usually your birthday month/yr.   I.e.  0669

Others recommend doing the first day of cruise to make sure it works.
