Woke up feeling a bit yucky this morning. Not sure the 3 day antibiotics did the trick. Prayers, blessings and Cheers to all on Roy's lists. And thank you Roy. I thought we might get a bit of moisture here in Georgetown from Nicholas, but there's no rain in our 10 day forecast. Prayers to all in the flooding areas. Looks like there's more to come. @kazu, I think we would enjoy the 1st stew recipe. I'll print it for future. I love crab and if I had a choice I'd order it before lobster tail. We used to heat the crab legs on the grill, split the shell and pour melted butter over them. Lay out newspaper on the table and go at them! Now I'm starving for crab! @mamafaomi I know the struggles you are going through, as my sweet husband suffered multiple strokes. Luckily you have your kids as advocates to help. We were blessed with excellent hospitals, rehabs, doctor's, and therapists. God bless you. My goodness Graham! How on earth do you and your sweet wife keep such nice figures with all that delicious food you eat? I gain weight looking at your pictures! Leaving in a few hours to take Allen for an MRI, then lunch. Wishing everyone an awesome day! Sending prayers for Allen's MRI to be fine. We have put weight on just hide it well I reckon. Take care. Graham.

StLouisCruisers Posted September 14, 2021 #29 Share Posted September 14, 2021 October 5, 2016 on our tour of Taormina. It's a charming town and very scenic but can be a problem to negotiate when crowds are large. It would be nice here off season, whenever that is! The Duomo and the funky fountain in front of it. A small walkway. I love those lanterns hanging from the building. A shopper's delight... A dining/drinking delight... The view from an overlook A closer look at that ship in case you'd like to identify it...might be a Windstar The Church of St. Joseph (or the Chiesa San Giuseppe) In front of the church Lots of people! Enough for today. 32

Thank you Rich for the Daily Report, and thank you Roy for the Cares and Celebrations Report. It is going to be a long day. Those with with dogs will understand. Sam had me up at around five to go outside, and then decided as long as he was up that it was time for breakfast! But before giving in I had to do an extended petting session. Still love him though! Sounds like what we’ve noticed. Our pound allows one to return a dog within so many weeks if it doesn’t work out. With our last 2 adoptions, we noticed a big behavior difference the day after the “warranty” expired. And we love them anyway. 15
Rare rafinmd Posted September 14, 2021 #31 Share Posted September 14, 2021 I'm nearing the end of my alternate menu suggestions and today's menu doesn't even figure on what I had: https://aroundamericabitbybit.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/menu0914.pdf If I had been in the dining room I would probably have chosen the "Modern" Veal Consume, the Spaghetti Carbonera, and Strawberry Ice Cream but we were in Boston and I wanted to be on deck for sailaway. As I mentioned earlier, the Crystal Lido Buffet is never open for dinner, and on September 14, 2016 the only dinner choices were the dining room, the specialty restaurants, and room service. What I did was eat a bit early, making a visit to the Trident Grill (Think Dive-In) shortly before they closed, getting my normal lunchtime Grilled Ham & Cheese with French Fries and Ice cream from the ice cream bar. Quartzsite Cruiser Posted September 14, 2021 #32 Share Posted September 14, 2021 Good morning from central Texas. It looks the rain that was predicted will pass us, as the forecast only shows a 15% chance today. We will get crab legs on a BHB, but not here. I like cream filled donuts with chocolat icing, but if they are available, we'll get hot, glazed Krispy Kreme donuts. I'm am not very creative. Love the George Burns quote, and always likde his stand-up act. Our small, extended family does not live very close, except the DDs who are about 2 hours away. I'll check out the recipe, but will pass on the drink (green is not appealing) and the wine. @mamaofami Glad your aide is returning today. Bet she would have picked up that Sam was having a stroke. I agree with @rafinmd Roy, that the aides need to be paid more. Great that you got some "me" time yesterday. @ger_77 Gerry, when you cook dried beans, be sure to soak them overnight and then rinse them. There is a speed soaking method using a pressure cooker, but it does not do a great job of getting all the beans soft. @aliaschief Loved the senior tatooitis and barnacles. My parents doctor called things like that "process aging". @Seasick Sailor Joy, sorry you are feeking bad today. We have been to Taormina tiwice on BHBs. In October 2017, the Prinsendam docked in Messina and we took the transfer to Taormina. In August 2019, the Veendam tendered at Naxos just down the coast, and we took a local bus to Taormina. I hope I'm not duplicating too many of @StLouisCruisers Sandi's pictures. The first two pictures were taken from the top of the parking garage where the bus dropped us off in 2017. The top one is the road from the coast up to Taormina, and the second is Mt. Etna. The next ones were taken in 2017 as we walked around the walled part of the city. The next pictures are from our 2019 visit, where we started from the other end of town. The first is the remnants of the city gate. The street leading to the ancient Greek theater and a view of the ocean A few pictures of the Greek theater which is still used for concerts and other events. Both times, we stopped at here for gelato, and the view. The town outside the old city gate Lenda

He probably figured while ya'll were awake, he would keep YOU company. He probably still has a bit of anxiety making sure he has a forever home with you. Sam is a great companion! Being a senior dog, he does sleep during the day which would explain being awake at night at times. Sam has started staying in the yard by himself and waiting patiently if I run an errand so his anxiety has definitely decreased in the month. My wife and I have commented how quickly he has accepted us compared to our previous rescues. All rescues have stories that they unfortunately cannot share.

Love all the days, not interested in the menu or drink, and we've never been to Europe. Prayers for Jim and Sam, and for all others on our care list. ger_77 Posted September 14, 2021 #35 Share Posted September 14, 2021 @Quartzsite Cruiser thanks for the tips on soaking the beans . . . Cruising-along Posted September 14, 2021 #37 Share Posted September 14, 2021 (edited) Good morning all! One week from today we will fly to Athens and begin our next adventure. Packing will start in earnest this week! Crab is my favorite seafood, I choose it over lobster every time. And cream filled donuts, along with jelly filled or chocolate are my favorites too. I wish I was more creative, but I need directions lol. Not good at making up my own ideas or patterns. Will pass on the meal. In the past Chardonnay was a favorite, but not anymore. Tastes change I guess! I wasn't sure if we'd been to Taormina, but we were indeed there in October of 2019 on our last (sob) cruise. We took the transfer from the port of Catania to Taormina, walked through the town and up to the Roman Theater. I loved it! Lovely flowers and building on our walk through town. Our reward of gelato at the end of a long walk Edited September 14, 2021 by Cruising-along

Rare Vict0riann Posted September 14, 2021 #41 Share Posted September 14, 2021 Good morning, and a big thank you to Rich, Roy, Jacqui, and all who post. I think DD had read that quote when she moved to Gander!🙃 We have been to Taormina a few ties, and love it. Except for the fact that it's way up high in the hills! I can add a few pictures. We first visited in 2014 on the Atlantic Adventurer (loved that cruise!) and then again in 2016 with DD and once with @sailingdutchy! There is a wartime human (suicide) underwater torpedo in the park which was fascinating. Great views of Mt. Etna and I love seeing Greek ruins in Italy. Of course, pizza -

Quartzsite Cruiser Posted September 14, 2021 #43 Share Posted September 14, 2021 @kplady Laura, so glad the surgery was successful and that you felt like letting us know. Rest and get well soon. @Cruising-along Thanks for the "bird's eye view" of the Greek theater. For a variety of reasons, we stayed in the lower part. I found some pictures of the area around Naxos, the tender port we used in 2019, for our visit to Taormina. There are a couple of pictures of the street from the bus depot to the old citty gate, plus some pictures of the drive along the coast. On this visit, we took the Interbus from Naxos to Taormina and back, and it was reasonably priced. The street from the bus depot to the city cate. I use the term depot lightly, as it was really a parking lot with a kiosk. Sights long the coast road The Veendam is the ship on the lefthand side of the picture. Naxos You can see a bit of the Naxos Cruise Terminal in this picture. It was really a canopy, ramp and dock. Lenda
Quartzsite Cruiser Posted September 14, 2021 #44 Share Posted September 14, 2021 This image was originally created last year, but I saw in last night on one of the Quartzsite FB pages. With the US border still closed to Canadians, and snowbird season beginning to pick up in Quartzsite, I thought some of the Dailyites would enjoy it. Overhead Fred Posted September 14, 2021 #45 Share Posted September 14, 2021 We are certainly enjoying our time at the cottage. We did get hit with the appliance flu though! The dishwasher would not work; it would go through the cycles but there was not enough water to dissolve the detergent pod. Luckily, it is still covered by an extended warranty (I think!) and someone is coming tomorrow to fix it. I'll let you know how that works out... The other day we took a nice country drive and ended up at the Buckhorn Locks (#31 on the Trent-Severn Waterway). Spent some time enjoying the sun and watching the boats lock through - one.pdf two.pdf three.pdf Note - I am not using my normal computer and cannot get the photos to post right side up, so I am doing PDFs instead. Also, I would like to know which bakery @Mr. Boston uses to find the crab and cream filled donuts 😁!!! 15 1

JazzyV Posted September 14, 2021 #48 Share Posted September 14, 2021 (edited) Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily. Well, sort of not my days. I barely eat crab, and then only crab cakes. I don't like cream filled donuts. I do try to be creative. The meal sounds interesting. I'll pass on the drink and wine. I haven't been to today's port. Thanks for the pictures. It's warm and humid here today. My stomach feels better, but now the back is acting up. I took some ibuprofen this morning and it's feeling better. I don't start PT for another 9 days. @irishjim Praying your surgery goes well and is less extensive. @kplady Good to hear from you. I'm glad recovery has begun. @grapau27 The food looks wonderful, as usual. @mamaofami I hope Sam comes home soon. And great that your good aide is back! I'm sure it was nice to get out. @Seasick Sailor Sorry to hear you don't feel so well today. Feel better soon! @smitty34877 Camilla is adorable! bennybear Posted September 14, 2021 #50 Share Posted September 14, 2021 Good morning and thanks all! Sounds like an interesting Chardonnay when I am usually ABC. Anything but …. We’ve been to Taormina twice, the first time DH got pickpocketed in that giant parking garage. but caught the guy who had already passed off his throwaway wallet, scared them enough that they dropped it. Meanwhile I had gotten on the bus wondering what happened to him! @Copper10-8 DH loved the drive through photo! @smitty34877baby Camilla is beautiful! A photo from the port of Catania, often used to visit Taormina, but the last time we went south to Ortygia, Syracuse and Noto. 20
