XBGuy Posted October 22, 2021 #51 Share Posted October 22, 2021 For the last week, or so, I have been unable to log on to Cruise Critic. When I clicked on the "Log In" link or button, nothing happened. At one point I even tried to create a new account. No luck. So, I have been unable to "Like" anybody's posts or (probably appreciated by many) add my pontifications. Today, I was able to log on. Go figure 4 hours ago, cat shepard said: Los Riscos Merlot Today’s wine may not be easy to find, but it has good-very good consumer ratings and a very reasonable price tag. One consumer stated that this wine needs to breath! Several online distributors with prices starting at $9.99. One site stated they could only find the 2020 vintage. Most of us are Northern Hemisphere centric. I have to stop for a second and realize that I make many assumptions just because I live in the Northern Hemisphere. @cat shepardcomments above that one particular provider had access to only the 2020 vintage of the Los Riscos Merlot. Keep in mind that this is a Southern Hemisphere wine. So, it is. roughly, six months older that a Northern Hemisphere wine from the 2020 vintage. The vintage date that makers put on their label is the year that the grapes were harvested. The harvest season runs from late-summer through mid-autumn regardless of the location, when grapes are being harvested in the Southern Hemisphere, the Northern Hemisphere is finiahing up winter and headining into spring, It will be another six months before grapes will not be harvested in the Northern Hemisphere. 19
Quartzsite Cruiser Posted October 22, 2021 #52 Share Posted October 22, 2021 (edited) Hello again. We first visited Huatulco in the latter part of the 1990s in the pre-digital age. Since then, we've been to Huatulco several times on BHBs. Our first BHB to Hualtuco was the Statendam in 2009 when we did b2b canal cruises. The first visit, we signed up for the land and sea tour. Unfortunately, we found out after were had been on the bus for an hour that the boat needed repairs and we would not be doing the sea portion. We talked to the ShoreEx people when we got back, and the manager booked us on the 5 Bays Cruise on the next segment at no cost to us. That was even more than we expected. These are from the land tour Just a few from the 5 Bays tour. Not our boat, but a similar one Returning to Huatulco In 2014, we were on Veendam on a b2b canal cruise, but only stopped in Huatulco once. The first picture is from the ship. In 2015, we were on Statendam on a canal cruise, on our way to Ft. Lauderdale to board the Ruby Princess. The cruise sure beat flying. 😉 In 2020 on our last cruise and our last cruise on Rotterdam VI, we stopped in Huatulco twice on a b3b canal cruise. This time, we opted to stay in town both times and just walked around for a while before enjoying one of the beach cafes and a coke. The area to the left after passing the cafes and the church. It was quiet and undiscovered. A final view of town from the dock Our home away from home for 32 days in 2020 Lenda Edited October 22, 2021 by Quartzsite Cruiser 23
AncientWanderer Posted October 22, 2021 #53 Share Posted October 22, 2021 Good morning/afternoon. @bdrcole Wishing you a very Happy Birthday! @St. Louis Sal, congratulations on your upgraded "ride." I hope you can figure out all the features quickly. The headlight will probably come in handy. I often use a flashlight just to find things in a cupboard. National Nut Day will be celebrated by many of my family members. Oops! Did I just say that? I love corned beef hash, but never eat it. Wonder if it could be done with the beets from the Reuben we had the other day? Healthy breakfast. @StLouisCruisers...hard to believe, but I was enrolled in gifted program from grade two onward. My best friend who was with me the whole time is now a teacher of gifted children. We watch the news about scrapping this program with much interest. It's an incredibly beneficial program. Just as essential as programs for those with learning disabilities. I hope people fight this one. Like many of you, I'm busily looking at future travel options. Things are really opening up! Many thanks to our contributors here and best wishes for a lovely Friday for all. 😊 23

Rare Crazy For Cats Posted October 22, 2021 #63 Share Posted October 22, 2021 Good Afternoon All, after several meetings and email strings we have a plan to implement a temporary patch for the customer. It will greatly improve their performance issues. Sadly no one with authority is around to give approval to update the code. We will meet with the customer Monday morning to review and discuss. The wine is waiting until 4:30 to be opened.😁

Your whole cruise has looked fabulous. In your conversations with hotel director Mark Pells, did he mention his future plans as far as ship assignment? He is a marvel of a hotel director.

I asked him last night and he replied wherever they need me. I have been hearing same response from many of the crew. We have cruised with him several times and he definitely runs a good ship. As we start our sailing we have an approaching storm brewing on starboard side. Looks like they got everyone back just in time. Your right it was a fabulous cruise. So good to be back cruising. 17

The other 3 cans are always in my home to throw something quick and easy togather for luinch or dinner. Remember me, I hate to cook so for the most part I don't. Have been to Hualtuco many times, always on HAL ships and I always enjoy this small Mexican port. Still quite fatigued, I believe it is a good thing that I see my hemotologist this afternoon and my pulmonologist on Monday. Fingers crossed that I am not anemic again. Fatigued or not, I am looking forward to my January cruise and looking to start panning for the next cruise beyond. Jane
CrabbyPatti Posted October 22, 2021 #71 Share Posted October 22, 2021 Hello Friends, It has been a while since I posted anything, but I do stop by and look to see what everyone is up to! Been busy here with the folks and fall clean up chores! Saw the Dr on Tuesday and was quite pleased, lost enough weight my A1C is back to the normal range!! She was excited at my results (I don't think she thought I would, loose). Got my flu shot while I was there, had to laugh when I looked at the record it was exactly a year before that I got the 2020 Flu shot, guess I am a creature of habit! Raining today so I put a ham hock on to cook, will add split peas to it in a bit and make some cornbread. Will make a good raining day meal. Have enjoyed looking at the Huatulca pictures, would like to cruise that direction one day. Stay healthy and well everyone. Have a great weekend! Denise Hope this doesn't post a bunch of times, cruise critic is not being friendly with my computer today!
StLouisCruisers Posted October 22, 2021 #72 Share Posted October 22, 2021 I may have some good news today. DH just called neighbor Damon at his rehab facility to let him know there was a package delivered to his home. His family has been coming by every two weeks or so to get mail from us. That's when Damon told him the doctors say he will be finally be going home on Monday! Fingers crossed this holds true because he's been telling us for 2 months now he'd be coming home in 2 or 3 weeks. This time the news came from the doctor, so we're crossing fingers it comes true. 🤞 I'll keep you all updated. We like good news here.🙏
bdrcole Posted October 22, 2021 #73 Share Posted October 22, 2021 I would like to thank everyone that sent me Birthday wishes. I shared my birthday with my Paternal Grandmother and a Grand Aunt and we always celebrated together when I was a child. In February, 8 long months ago we ordered new recliners from the Laz e company and they were finally delivered today. I thought I would be able to spend the day relaxing but our quality control kitty Mya had different plans. 14
