3red7s Posted November 15, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 15, 2021 After 6 yrs of talking, we finally convinced our friends to try cruising. They have agreed to a 4-5 night cruise. We have one shot to impress them....Most short cruises are on the Summit, Millenium, & Silhouette. I have not been on any of these, as we take longer cruises. Which one would woo & wow them? They like good food and the casino. Any and all opinions are welcomed. Thank you and have a great and Happy Thanksgiving!!!
39august Posted November 15, 2021 #2 Share Posted November 15, 2021 All of those ships have been "revolutionized", so in very good shape. I would say Silly would be the best bet as she is S class, larger than the other two. She likely has a larter casino too. 3
wrk2cruise Posted November 15, 2021 #3 Share Posted November 15, 2021 Probably agree with Silly. They also have better specialty dining if that is of interest.

Sincere best wishes to you, family and friends as you celebrate thanksgiving from across the pond! Both Millennium and Summit are older ships although both have been upgraded in the last few years. Silhouette is a newer and bigger ship and we have sailed them all. To us the Silhouette is the winner by a mile…We do find the M class ships limited in speciality dining (important for us). There are six speciality restaurants choices on Silhouette (Murano, Tuscan, LPC, Lawn Grill, Porch and Sushi on five) compared to three on the other ships (Tuscan, LPC and Sushi). Removing the Murano equivalents on the M class was (in our opinion) a bad move. We also prefer ‘the flow’ of the S class ships generally, hard to describe, but everywhere seems easy to get to and no where ever seems crowded….Silhouette in particular is now enhanced by upgraded seating area around the sunset bar to the lawn area. For people who have never cruised before itinerary is really important. As are the excursion options available at the ports of call. Nothing wrong with Summit or Millennium, just Silhouette has more still to offer. You will have a wonderful cruise on whatever ship you choose! Put some options together and let your friends decide what is really important to them…
Reel Love Posted November 15, 2021 #6 Share Posted November 15, 2021 Have sailed both M and S class and I echo the opinions stated thus far. Something about the "S" class ships is simply just a great fit for us. The Silhouette happens to be our favourite of the S class ships (have sailed all S class ships except the Solstice). Hope your friends enjoy no matter which ship you choose to sail!! 😊

Lastdance Posted November 16, 2021 #9 Share Posted November 16, 2021 (edited) Definitely Silly! There is only so much one can do to woo and wow people, but good luck with your plan! Traveling the world on a cruise ship is the woo and wow for me! Edited November 16, 2021 by Lastdance
NCHPcruiser Posted November 16, 2021 #10 Share Posted November 16, 2021 Definitely the Silhouette! It’s our favorite for many of the reasons chemmo outlined above.

Either they love cruising or they don’t. The ship won’t change that. I fell in love with cruises on Carnival’s Tropicale in the early 80’s. Compared to todays ships it was floating junk. We didn’t care. We knew we would be cruising for life. Let your friends find out for themselves if this is for them. You just make sure you have fun.

TeaBag Posted November 16, 2021 #14 Share Posted November 16, 2021 (edited) Definitely the Silhouette and make sure you try the Lawn Club Grill (you can usually get a discount the first night). I hope you have an absolutely fabulous cruise and that you have to pry them off the ship at the end of the sailing! Keys Kathy Posted November 16, 2021 #15 Share Posted November 16, 2021 Yep, the Sillie. The buffet is such a better presentation AND the pizza and ice cream. Of course the rest of the food is great too.
SNJCruisers Posted November 16, 2021 #16 Share Posted November 16, 2021 4/5 night cruises on the Silhouette are few and far between. The only 5 night is at the end of 2022 celebrating 2023 New Years. There are various 4 day at the end of 2022 and beginning of 2023 going to Key West and Nassau. Good luck.

They may wish they were on a longer cruise to properly enjoy them all.
Rare Honolulu Blue Posted November 16, 2021 #18 Share Posted November 16, 2021 I'm amazed that everyone that has shown a preference has chosen the Silhouette over the Summit. My only two cruises with Celebrity were on the Summit. I thought it was a great ship and had a great experience both times. It's hard to imagine anything better, but based on these responses, it seems there might be. If only I had more time and $$$ to book...

You should just go with what you like and is best for you. Why is it up to you to impress your friends with cruising? They will like the overall experience (or not) and hopefully enjoy sharing a cruise with their friends. And maybe they will be focused on itinerary and ports instead of just the ship. If they have not cruised before how would they even know or recognize differences between these 3 ships anyway?

If it took 6 yrs to convince them to try a 5 night cruise, which really isn't a good test of cruising, it seems as if they finally " gave in ". Let's hope they go with an open mind , but , you might feel very stressed the entire time " hoping " they have a good time. In the end, there's nothing to impress them with. Some folks like cruising-- some don't. Some folks like the ballet--- some folks prefer hockey -- etc, etc. Get the message ??

Bill Miller Posted November 16, 2021 #25 Share Posted November 16, 2021 Yes, who cares? All of Celebrity's ships are special in their own way. And don't wait till late 2022 to sail. Great things going on right now with 3/4/5 night cruises. We've recently been aboard the 3 night Summit and 5 night Constellation. Good times and lovely weather. Take your pals to the Oceanside Cafe for quick bite to eat and enjoy music at the Sunset Bar as the ship drops lines. You don't have to drink martinis to enjoy the Martini Bartenders and their gift for flair. Right now the per person prices are very inexpensive and the All included makes even a tightwad smile. In fact, book two cruises for yourself and don't tell your friends. You'll probably have a better time.
