Kmermaid Posted January 20, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2022 Received an email that they have extended the mask protocols thru Feb 14th. We are on the Symphony on the 5th. Still not sure where they are sailing since they still have SJ and Laberdee on our sailing. 🙄 4

swooldri Posted January 21, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2022 Ya..kind of sucks. But not that surprised. We cruise in a group of 8 on Feb. 5th. Not sure if anyone will cancel.
maggieq Posted January 21, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2022 we are thingking of canceling our 2/11 anthem sailing. Masks on in the hallways, elevators and on thre way to vaccinated areas fine with me. Masks 24/7 indoors not my idea of vacation. Especially considering vaccination proof and testing.

Concur. 50% capacity will be a dream to the cruise lines if the 24/7 crap continues IMO.

The only real change to me was theater and casino and no smoking in the casino. Doesnt break my heart no smoking and its 2 venues really only affected. The rest of the indoors places we already wore masks. And who didnt expect this policy to continue a bit longer? I was on dec 12 when the policy first announced. ..didn't make a difference. 10 1
sandebeach Posted January 21, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2022 Just received our emails, we have two cruises coming up in February. I was not surprised at the mask extension.
maggieq Posted January 21, 2022 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2022 This updated rule sounds more like sip and cover so imo different from the rule once rccl started back cruising in 2021 - vaccinated areas no mask required.
Amberle3 Posted January 21, 2022 #9 Share Posted January 21, 2022 Honestly I'm fine with this. I'm usually wearing a mask, sometimes double-masked, for 10+ hours a day as it is, except right now I'm doing it in the middle of a chilly Canadian winter. I also know several people who are vaccinated and boosted and have still gotten Covid, albeit with much milder symptoms than those who weren't. But one of them tested negative one day, and then positive literally a day later, so the tests aren't foolproof. Wearing a mask isn't going to keep me from enjoying my vacation. I'd rather be on a cruise in a mask than shovelling snow. 16

I can read out there with my bluetooth ear buds and my music on my phone. I'm also taking my Nemo Stargaze chair so I can sit wherever I want out there. It’s just a continuation of the recently implemented new protocols. We just got off a cruise earlier this week. The only big difference to us was having to wear a mask the entire time when watching shows in the theaters.
FamilyCruiserUK Posted January 21, 2022 #15 Share Posted January 21, 2022 I for one am glad those who dont want to wear masks are cancelling their cruises. I just think its selfish to not wear one when required, not to help protect you but to protect others. I am tripple jabbed, last jab was 21st dec and i caught covid on 14th jan as i was home looking after my daughter who caught it on the 7th of jan. I have two days isolation left then can go out. Yes thankfully its been mild ish, just banging headach and 1 day of heavy flu symptoms. But its ok now. Even though i am vaccinated and have just had covid i will mask up when required just to help protect those around me, even if its just for their mental well-being. Yes masks are not what we want on a holiday but it is what it is. I dont want rude, loud, drunk people on hoildays but it happens so you live to roll with it. 22

Ofmyheart Posted January 21, 2022 #17 Share Posted January 21, 2022 I haven't received email, on Mariner 2/22 but can't imagine it is much different than it was on Serenade for NYE. Wasn't really a big deal to me.

Agree it's odd to not extend for the whole month of feb. . .gives me hope of they hope for better things to come.
nelblu Posted January 21, 2022 #20 Share Posted January 21, 2022 13 hours ago, choochella said: How is this new protocol any different than what was previously enacted? Masks optional in the casino and the theater that was for vaxxed only. Not sure what the Aqua theater is considered under the new protocols. When I sailed Oasis back in September, the Aqua show had performances for Vaxxed only and everyone else. Masks were optional in the vaxxed area. cruisegirl1 Posted January 21, 2022 #23 Share Posted January 21, 2022 Glad they are letting passengers know of expectations. Those who don’t like the rules can cancel. Those who continue to sail understand the rules and shouldn’t be so upset if staff asks them to comply with the rules. m
zeroed Posted January 21, 2022 #24 Share Posted January 21, 2022 (edited) The farther we get away from the expired CDC order and as COVID numbers fall, I suspect all of the cruise lines are going to get lax with following their advertised self imposed guidelines. The problem is knowing when that will be so I’m expecting to wear a mask. Edited January 21, 2022 by zeroed Mistake
warburg Posted January 21, 2022 #25 Share Posted January 21, 2022 Greetings from South Beach, Everyone. I am sad to say I cancelled my April cruise on Odyssey because life wearing a mask whenever indoors is not for me. Getting rid of the mask aboard doesn't seem possible now because so many people are afraid to do without it. I have a TA booked for April of 2023. Absent mask, I will be aboard.. This TA sails to Lisbon, a beautiful port. We were there several times, and it was enjoyable. The seafood lunch we once had in Cascias, a town near Lisbon, was extraordinary, as was the setting..I am cautiously optimistic about getting on a cruise ship in the future.
