cunnorl Posted March 9, 2022 #26 Share Posted March 9, 2022 Good Morning from a warm but overcast day at the beach I never had a barbie doll, I had "Ginny". My mother did not approve of Barbies. I was more of a baby doll girl anyway. I am not prone to panic, I always was told you have to keep your head if there really is an emergency. Have never been to todays port, looking forward to pictures. Golfing this afternoon. My nephew has convinced me to play in the tournament Friday. He said we could go last and then collect all the flags, etc on our way. Would have to do that anyway. DH is taking my injured friend and they will get things going with the caterer until we get in. We are setting up the room tomorrow nite so everything should be ready. Should work! Seems many of our Dailylites need our prayers. Sending strong thoughts and virtual hugs your way. Stay safe and enjoy today

StLouisCruisers Posted March 9, 2022 #29 Share Posted March 9, 2022 Good morning friends! It's a gloomy rainy morning here. I got on the treadmill and walked 3 miles, while saying my prayers and watching the Ukraine news. They are in my prayers constantly as well as those helping them. I saw on the news the Suffolk County NY police department is sending Ukraine 750 bullet proof vests. Every little bit helps. Thanks for the Daily Rich @richwmn. I saw the Westerdam listed as being in PEV and went to look for it there, but didn't see anything. Then I saw @1ANGELCATand your conversation about it. Thanks for clearing that up. It's just always exciting to see new movement by our BHBs. As for the Barbie day, I vaguely remember Barbies around our house. I know my neighbor had one. She had everything including her own Princess telephone! We have one of the 1957 Barbies that belonged to DH's sister. She gave it to our DD. I doubt if she's worth much these days because she's pretty worn. The reason it's in my dresser drawer instead of with DD I just don't know. These kids fail to take all their "stuff" when they leave home and we parents seem to just hang on to it. Get Over It Day is okay but Panic Day I prefer not to contemplate. No thanks on the mole poblano. It's a visual thing I guess. Puerto Montt, Chile we went to while on Seabourn Quest on our way to Antarctica. I'll look at my photo book and see what would interest you all. Thanks Roy @rafinmdfor the Care and Celebration lists. We have quite long lists, don't we? Prayers for everyone of course. Cheers to all the happy news and celebrations! @aliaschiefthank you for your update on the cruise. Your experience on Azamara reminds me of our times spent on Seabourn. Everything was perfect! If only I was wealthy enough to afford them more often! Remember the twin baby boys who passed away after being born much too early last June 4, the same day my DS Nancy died? DS was their great grandmother. Well the young couple is expecting again! I'll have to text my niece Lisa, the grandma, and find out more. More prayers going out to them that this pregnancy is successful! The reason you hear so much about my nieces (and nephews) is I have 11 of them. Something is always happening somewhere! Prayers for Ukraine!
jimgev Posted March 9, 2022 #30 Share Posted March 9, 2022 Good Morning. Thanks for the daily and the care lists. I love mole. There are probably as many versions of it as there are people in Mexico. Everyone has their own take on it. The really good ones are quite complex with more than twenty ingredients. I've also had a few versions here in the States that were not great. (Some taste lke they just poured chocolate ssuce over a piece of chicken and call it mole - yuch!) I love the quote. It looks like another beautiful day here. I will enjoy some pool time a little later. Stay safe everyone.

Not sure I want to try it. 10
Overhead Fred Posted March 9, 2022 #32 Share Posted March 9, 2022 I took some of Mitzi's glittery gala garb to the dry cleaner yesterday. Today we get our pre-cruise haircuts. mamaofami Posted March 9, 2022 #33 Share Posted March 9, 2022 Good morning everyone from a rainy and dreary New Jersey. My girls both had Barbie dolls and I have no idea what became of them or of the many books they and my son had. It’s so hard getting over things and not panicking and I’m working on that everyday for the last nine months. The search for Sam’s title to his car has gone nowhere. Yesterday I called the dealership in NY where he bought his 2007 convertible and was amazed that after giving them the vin number they were able to give me all the info about the specs for the car that the motor vehicle bureau wanted. Not much planned for today except attending a zoom stroke support group. Stay safe everyone, Carol
StLouisCruisers Posted March 9, 2022 #34 Share Posted March 9, 2022 (edited) It was Dec. 21, 2016 when our ship approached Puerto Montt, Chile. Our first sight, a church and cross up on a hill. We had a private tour with a CC group so set off on our tender for shore. Captain D.D. wanted to see some of the sights too apparently because there he was on our early tender. We met our tour guide Patricia and then headed to a downtown spot where she began discussing the devastation caused by the 2015 eruption of a nearby volcano Calbuco. Our stopping spot. Photos of the eruption Then we drove to an overlook to see the far reaches of the city. The Seabourn Quest at anchor right offshore. Some fuel prices per liter. I hope our gallons don't see numbers starting in the 7 or 8's soon! I'm sure this is Chilean pesos, thank goodness. We headed out into the countryside and spotted another major volcano, Osorno with a beautiful snow capped peak. We stopped at a llama ranch with a view of both volcanoes across the lake. We admired the llamas a while then one last look at the volcano closest to us. We entered Vicente Perez Rosales National Park which features the Petrohue Waterfall. The park included some spots to shop for souvenirs but we didn't buy any. On we drove by Llanquihue Lake and headed halfway up Orsono Volcano for our next stop. This was halfway up the volcano. We stopped and had lunch here. Pretty desolate up here. It's actually a ski lift here but all we could see this time of year was volcanic rock, not snow. After lunch, we headed back down past the beautiful lake to the Green Lagoon. We headed for the town of Puerto Varas with lots more viewings of the volcanic peaks. Puerto Varas is very picturesque and is called "The City of Roses". It is popular with the tourists. The shoppers were excited to see tents with booths set up for them. The town is located on the banks of Lake Llanquihue. Heading back to Puerto Montt Back on the tender, looks like our entertainment is riding back with us. I'm sure we enjoyed that evening's entertainment! It was a good tour in Puerto Montt and if you can book a private excursion you'll see a lot more of the area. It is too warm for snow, but it will be drizzly and gloomy all day. At least it is in the 40s and not the 20s. The days are getting longer and the increased daylight does have an effect on mood. And maybe on behavior as well. At my hair appointment yesterday I made arrangements to go back next week and get cobalt blue and magenta highlights in my hair. You only live once and you may as well have fun doing it. The highlights sound very fun, hope to see a picture when it's done. Many years ago I had dark purple highlights, those were the days! DeeniEncinitas Posted March 9, 2022 #38 Share Posted March 9, 2022 🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺 Took picture of Island Princess which has no passengers outside our bedroom. Top picture of Noordam through the front living room window on right of Princesss. Still too much glare. Probably late afternoon before SAILAWAY I can get a good clear pic of Noordam! 🌺☺️ 29
Sea Viewer Posted March 9, 2022 #39 Share Posted March 9, 2022 Good morning everyone, Had a late start today as DH had a very restless night, he was feeling a little dizzy and seemed confused to me. Thought I had moved the bed while he was in the bathroom!! He's sleeping now and I'm going to let him wake naturally. I did have him take his morning meds early so he could sleep later this morning. Thoughts to everyone on the Care List and good wishes to those on the celebrations list, M 20

Sharon in AZ Posted March 9, 2022 #41 Share Posted March 9, 2022 Good morning everyone and Happy Wednesday! I had a Barbie given to me when I got my tonsils out at 5 years old and my Grandmother made clothes for her too. I try to get over things and not panic but sometimes it’s hard. Great quote. Good sounding wine too. I’m not into mole sauces and there are so many different types. I’d like to try a really good one but not make it myself. Have a great day everyone!
Cruising-along Posted March 9, 2022 #42 Share Posted March 9, 2022 Good morning all! We have sunny day, but chilly with frost on the rooftops and heading for mid 40's F. I may try to get into the backyard to do some work there, the front yard is pretty much caught up for now. I never had a Barbie doll, or a lot of dolls in general. I much preferred to play with my pet cats 😉 My best friend did have several though. Sometimes getting over something is easier said than done. I don't think I panic, I'm more of a worrier than someone who panics. 🙂 I love the quote. Will pass on the meal, cannot take spices. The drink and wine both sound good. @dfishDebbie I love it that you're going to have highlights done in your hair! Please post photos. @StLouisCruisersSandi that's wonderful news that the young couple are expecting again. Prayers for a successful delivery. And thank you for the photos! 26
bennybear Posted March 9, 2022 #43 Share Posted March 9, 2022 (edited) Good morning and big thanks everyone, what an interesting quote! @summer slopewhat an interesting drink, it would go well with the mole which is my favourite Mexican dish. It isn’t sweet, rather savoury and delicious. And takes ages to make. Thanks for the recipes @dfish And the great cartoons @kazu and @cat shepard as well as that interesting wine, love the Loire wines! @aliaschiefthanks for sharing the cruise photos, lovely. @StLouisCruisers glad to hear your niece is expecting. highland cruiser Posted March 9, 2022 #44 Share Posted March 9, 2022 Good morning. I had to move my computer to a different position so I could see the screen. Sunshine interfering through the window! But I am not complaining. Great quote. Have been to Puerto Mont several times on our travels to Chile. Beautiful area. Granddaughter loves her Barbies. Her mom wasn't much of a doll person growing up so some of this doll stuff is new to her!! Thanks as always to you both, Rich and Roy for keeping us informed with the lists. Off for my morning walk while the sun is out! It certainly is spring weather here. Warm, sunny, then cold, rainy, and windy next! Prayers to all and Congrats to those celebrating.

This fall's cruise is a replacement for a fall 2020 cruise, which, of course, didn't sail. We had booked excursions for most of the stops on that cruise and I notice the one for Puerto Montt was with Denis, so we'll likely try and book with him again.
