Thanks for posting your experience. I am so sorry for your troubles. Pretty scary. I had never thought of the end date of travel insurance with a cruise. We are on a cruise in a couple of weeks and thankfully booked a timeshare after the cruise so if something like that were to happen to us, we would be covered for a few more days. It's certainly something to keep in mind for the future. Thanks for sharing and I wish you the best of luck recovering and getting home.

Check your policy. Some extend coverage if you have a trip delay.

It’s concerning how your situation was handled. I know you had already been exposed to Covid by your hubby, and maybe that’s why they thought it would be OK to put everyone together, but still. 90 minutes in an enclosed space with people with Covid is horrible. I really hope you don’t get sick, that your husband will heal quickly, and that all of your reimbursements come through quickly and easily. Thank you for sharing your experience, so we understand another person’s reality of cruising right now.

Our family got positive on ABC cruise in Dec 21.... treated like criminals and terrible experience for 4 days in isolation and escorted off ship and zero refund conversation... I have BBB involved and finally spoke to corporate but they acted like it was our fault we got covid on their ship... still have not seen any cruise credit... still pushing BBB to get it right.. they can't advertise their protection plan and then just do nothing to those infected.... total scam to get $$ out of you for their cruises... I am not even sure I will cruise again even though they owe us like 5K in credit... sad ....

We were in same sailing as you, and both caught Covid. Quarantined per protocols, not treated like criminals at all - escorted to new cabin, etc.

And reimbursement has all come through by mid March, including for our nights aboard, the cancelled following cruise and our out od pocket expenses for land quarantine and change in travel plans .

We just got off the Majestic and there definitely was smoking in the casino, really, really bad.  They did not even have one non smoking night.  It was pretty horrible really because the smell went into the piazza too.

OP sorry about your experience.  We had a similar one with feeling sick the last night of the cruise.  I took a covid test I had brought with me at 2am, negative.  Took another one at 7am, negative.  So, we just left the ship.  I have since taken 2 more home tests, all negative.  It must just be allergies for us.  I am so glad I had the tests with me to give me peace of mind.

We masked the whole 14 days, on the ship and in port, but the coughing onboard just got worse and worse everyday, with very few wearing masks.  We ate outside mostly and only went to the dining room once (the tables were close with no table in between) and we just left after seeing that, never to return.

I hope everything gets worked out for you and anyone else affected.  After our experience on the Majestic, we are just not going to cruise again until the fall and hope it is better by then.

Just curious…. Do you know if this is becoming more common on other Princess ships too?

No idea.  I only know what happened on our cruise.

If you mean the smoking, I asked the casino manager and she said starting March 5th there was smoking, whether she meant only on the Majestic???  Not sure.

Yeah, that's what I thought, but I wasn't sure.  Too bad, especially for the employees smelling and breathing that horrible smoke all day and night.

reed princess. Consider yourself lucky then.... already spoke to 5 others who are in the same boat as us..no pun intended... no refunds yet, poor service and terrible treatment.  Oh I forgot they took my daughters vaccine card ...why we don't know.... but they were delayed getting off the ship cause no one would claim they had it... finally someone came forward to provide it..   Sorry but Princess was not ready for this ... it's all about the cash and not the people...

I just got off the PC cruise on the Ruby Princess on Sunday, wonderful Cruise and wonderful staff. Most people were not wearing masks, about 10% were. The couple across the hall both were positive. It appears that the people that were back-to-back going to Hawaii were all tested and several passengers and crew were positive. Those of us getting off the ship in San Francisco were not tested. They announced and distributed a letter requiring face masks everywhere starting Friday night at dinner and everyone I saw complied. I did a self test on Saturday; negative,  negative Monday night at home. I will test again in a couple days to make sure. Hope everybody recovers, Jen

Op,  Any followup?

Back home, and feeling much better, thanks.  DH still has a slight lingering cough, but thankfully his case was fairly mild and mine was pretty asymptomatic.

Have heard from a few fellow passengers who stayed on after our cruise that cases on the Ruby skyrocketed.  Can't say I'm surprised with all the restrictions they lifted.

Our recent back to back Panama Canal cruise on the Ruby was wonderful. We enjoyed it immensely. AND I am one of those who contracted Covid - on the first leg!

The day before arriving in Fort Lauderdale they tested all of us who were doing the return voyage. Approx 15 minutes later we got a call advising my results were positive, but hubby negative. A nurse came to our cabin within minutes to administer a follow up PCR test which confirmed I was indeed positive. Btw I had no symptoms other than a very slight cough.
They gave us the option to leave the cruise next day in Florida, or remain onboard under quarantine - together or me alone. We chose the latter and I was moved immediately to a balcony cabin in the isolation section of the ship.
I cannot commend enough the absolutely superb treatment I received from Dean, the Director of Guest Services. He oversaw my care and took the time to call me every day, to ask how I was doing and if I needed anything. Also amazing were Roberto and his Room Service staff  -  each and every one of them truly caring. I had only to call, and within minutes one of many plastic-covered-angels smiling through their shields and masks would appear at my door with what I’d requested. Sometimes I was sent a little surprise too.
After testing negative on days 5 and 6, I was released from isolation but was still not allowed to eat in public areas for 4 more days.  So I continued to have my meals in our cabin, and got to know many of them very well over the 10 days.

Sorry that some passengers’ Covid related experiences were unsatisfactory. But ours was completely the opposite - we could not have been treated better.
Kudos to Dean, Roberto and their teams.  We appreciate their taking such great care of us.

I wonder why some got better treatment than others?  Good for you, but it makes it worse IMO, because where is that line drawn and how do you know which side you will be on? The guests who get good treatment or the ones who wait 4 hours for dinner?

I'm wondering if timing played a role?  It doesn't seem like there were as many stricken with Covid on the Ruby when @rcl cruiser was quarantined.  From what I've read on the other thread the crew was overwhelmed by the volume of sick folks (as well as those who were well and chose to order room service) toward the end of the most recently concluded cruise.

I am so happy this was your experience.  I know all those crew members and have had nothing but exceptional encounters with them.
