Thank you for the Saturday Daily, Rich.  I try not to Panic and am not a fisherman but a picnic sounds great.  I don't think  I've been to Guadeloupe.  The quote sounds nice.  The meal sounds ok although I am not really a fan.  My alternative is Tropical Fruit Medley, Oven Roasted Chicken, and Baked Alaska as served on MS Veendam May 21 2016  (the last half of June is a drought period so I'm using alternatives from May 21-31 that I didn't use this year while on Adventure of the Seas).''

Today’s care list:

HAL Sailer DH Nephew with serious mowing accident
Heartgrove safe return home
StLouisCruisers and DH in Covid jail
Melinda with stage 4 cancer
Heartgrove brother recovering from PEG insertion

Buddy with continuing problems
Marshhawk telephone issues
From the rotation:
StLouisSal with weakening legs
Cruzin Terri with continuing hand problems
Cruising-along niece awaiting a kidney
1Angelcat’s Jaguar with untreatable cancer

Celebrations and Shoutouts:

All BHB hosting guests

Good afternoon.

It is 68°F today.

We are inside church for the church Fair today.

Thank you for today's daily and fleet reports Rich and Roy for today's lists.

We have both had a hot dog from the stall.

Panic never helps just leads to accident's.

My brother loves fishing but I could not get interested.

Prayers 🙏 for everyone who need them.

Take care.

Graham.

Thank you for today’s Daily, Rich! Huge marine layer and onshore breezes made this morning’s walk lovely. But heat advisories are everywhere today. Especially South and inland. Fellow Floridians be safe.

Thank you for our lists, Roy. Morning Dailyites.  I seem to have an almost Summer cold. Thought it was my sinuses acting up. Then as the cough started I tested myself for COVID - three times to be safe. But now the sneezing has started. I don’t remember the last time I had a cold. Definitely pre-COVID.  Not sure what I will do today. Don’t want to pass this on.

I couldn’t decide which one of the following to share, so you are getting both…

Prayers for all who need our support. Special prayers for Buddy, Tana, HAL Sailor’s DN and Jack’s DB.  Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone!

Casa Silva 2018 S38 Los Lingues Single Block

This Chilean Cab has excellent ratings. There are so many great wines under $20, that I would want to taste it before spending $30.00.  Not outrageously expensive, but…. It is available from several online distributors.
VINEYARD DESCRIPTION
Situated on the northeast border of the Colchagua Valley, at the feet of the Andes mountain range, Los Lingues has its own micro-climate, transforming it to a small sub-valley. The Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon showcase exceptional high quality and unique characteristics. The Carmenere from Los Lingues has become a reference of quality, obtaining multiple high wine scores and recognition on numerous occasions both nationally and internationally. A small quantity of high quality Cabernet Sauvignon can also be found on this property, as well as other varieties from experimental vineyard plantings.
WINEMAKING
Grapes are received in harvest boxes and chilled to 2°C in a cold room before being processed. Manual grape cluster and berry selection prior to and post destemming, after which small tanks
and ferment barrels are filled by gravity. After cold maceration of the grapes for 10 days, the alcoholic fermentation is carefully conducted at 26-28 °C. During the grape skin maceration post
ferment, the wine is tasted daily to determine the exact moment to drain and press. Malolactic fermentation in barrels.
AGEING
80% French oak barrels for 12 months 20% in stainless steel tanks for 12 months 6 months in bottle prior to market release
TASTING NOTE
Ruby red in color with deep violet hues. Aromas of blackberries, ripe black currants, figs, licorice, cedar, tobacco, black pepper, eucalyptus, bitter chocolate, nutmeg and cardamom. Medium-high acidity on the palate with potent, mature tannins that are well integrated. Mature black fruit, sweet spices and minty taste, with a silky and persistent finish.
AGEING POTENTIAL
Drink now or cellar for up to 20 years

Good morning, everyone!

It is a beautiful morning in northeast Ohio.  High today is supposed to be around 70.  Makes for a great day for a walk.  I'll try to get that in after the pool.  It was a bad night last night as I just couldn't sleep.  The problem was more restless legs than anything.  I got up at 2 and did exercises which tired out the legs and allowed me to fall asleep.

Today's meal looks good except for all the bread.  I guess I could eat the insides of the sub sandwich.  I think that is called a salad.   Here is our first recipe from the Food Network.  https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchen/italian-subs-recipe-1973242

2065842255_italiansubsandwich1.jpeg.a71225a1f011c8fc98190a949d6d5ec2.jpeg

A lot of the differences in these recipes centers around the sauce or dressing.  There is some variation in meats used.  This next one uses only cured meats and has an interesting sounding cherry pepper spread.  https://www.tastingtable.com/686375/italian-sandwich-meat-cheese-recipe/

68838881_Italiansubsandwich2.jpg.be911f9e8fdf17db6edb1075a454ac0b.jpg

The other variation is in the bread used.  When I was in college we used to order subs from a place called Galley in Kalamazoo.  They had the best crusty rolls that they used.  I haven't found anything as good ever since.   https://www.thekitchn.com/italian-sub-sandwich-recipe-23168718

515991338_italiansubsandwich3.thumb.jpg.5ac732df1e1a9aea135bd8e5ae1cb932.jpg

And, this one just looked good. They list alternatives for sauces and breads here.   https://www.spendwithpennies.com/italian-sub-sandwich/

322651180_italiansubsandwich4.thumb.jpg.45d11fa7f311ebc88bc20fa937dfce6a.jpg

Prayers for all who need them, especially Ukraine, victims of gun violence, and Daily family members who are struggling with challenges.  Special prayers for @HAL Sailer's DH's nephew after a horrific accident.  Cheers to those who are celebrating.   Wishing everyone a great day.

Good afternoon from Venice!  My first post disappeared and I was able to get half of it back so I’m trying again.

I decided I needed more gifts so we went back to the Rialto market for salts.  I ended up getting more than just salt.

They have wonderful salts seasoned all different ways.

Then to another church that has 3 Tintoretto’s, San Cassiano.

Just waking up here, Big night of watching Disney’s classic Lady and The Tramp! Lana Jayne really enjoyed it. We may try another classic tonight.

Yesterday in the pool she said “I’m ready to go in house.” Into house got out of wet suits then noticed it was really quiet. Looked in her bedroom and she is in bed under covers and out cold. We wore her out! Going to be in First Grade this fall and she can read and do math additions! Like what’s 62 +22? Right every time. I know I couldn’t do that out of kindergarten!

More pool time today.

Thanks for The Fleet, Care, Mixology and recipes post.
Prayers for those in need. Have a great Saturday.

I know if I tried to name each of you, I'd surely miss someone. Instead I'll say "Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!" to all of you for your prayers and healing wishes for my DH's nephew.

DH just talked with his sister and the first blessing is that her son was moved out of ICU this morning. The second blessing is that her other son is expected to arrive today and the plan for the help needed by DH's sister seems to be coming together.

Before the accident, we had plans to visit with DH's sister next week as part of a quick 'circle-the-state' roadtrip to see a number of his and my relatives. We may modify that plan.

This morning, I'm off to Our Neighbors Garden to help plant cabbage, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and squash.

Thanks for your ongoing prayer,

-Melisa

Thanks for the Saturday Daily, Rich.

I’ll pass on fishing & picnic days today.  I celebrated International Panic Day bright and early when I got an email that my flight had been cancelled and I had been moved to a flight I wouldn’t do.  40 minutes later and it’s all fixed.  I not keen on the new one but it’s the best of 2 bad options 😉 I definitely have to get more positive about this flight!

Not sure if I agree with today’s quote completely.  I love a good sub now and then (albeit with some different meat).  Thanks for the dressing ideas, Debbie.@dfish

On the road again today to visit and gift some stuff to DH’s BFF and, if the weather would make up it’s mind (is it going to rain or not???) maybe get a bit of gardening done assuming I am not too tired from visiting and tending to other matters.

@ger_77thank you so much for your recipe yesterday.  I have it saved for later this summer.

@aliaschiefBruce - you wore out Lana?  Wow - Good for you two - not a small accomplishment indeed 😉

Good morning everyone.  Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists.  I’m not sure that I’ve ever panicked about anything, I don’t think that I could even do it.  I used to go fishing with my dad when I was young, maybe I will when I retire.  I never say no to a picnic.  Interesting quote today, food for thought. I love a good Italian sub and we are quite fortunate here to be able to get the real deal.  Haven’t been to today’s port. Prayers for everyone on today’s prayer list.  Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today!  Thank-you to @Sharon in AZfor taking the time to share all of the great photos of your vacation; hope the packing and travel home go smoothly.

Happy Saturday Morning!  I'm not sure that I want to celebrate Panic Day,  as I have aged, I like less Drama in my life.and Drama makes me panic.  I do love sub sandwiches!  But not so much the picnic part.  When you eat outdoors in the south during the warm months, you have to bring an extra platter for the bugs.  BUT I LOVE FISHING.

For those who don't fish, and don't understand those who fish.  It is finding Zen.  You are one with nature,  it matters not if you bring something home, it is the act of fishing.  Standing in a stream in the mountains, casting for trout is one of the most relaxing things I can think of that I have done in my life.

Lake fishing is a bit different, you actually have to quietly sneak up on the fish, so you row a boat, (exercise) and throw your line over the side, and hope that they bite.  The best breakfast I ever had, was small mouth bass freshly caught in a small lake in PA.

Ocean fishing is a bit different, you can cast from the beach,  which works well if the wind is right, or you can let someone else take you out onto the sea, and hope that what you pull up is not a shark.

No matter where you are, when you are fishing, you are outside (unless you stumble on a Bass Pro Shop).  You are enjoying your surroundings. You are an action, in a stillness.

Problem is , once caught, I have no idea how to clean them, or cook them.

Thank you Rich for the Daily Report, thank you Roy for the Cares and Celebration Report, and thank you Debbie for today's recipes. And thank you all for being here!

We had a safe drive home but long and tiring. It is always a 50/50 chance when we cross the Appalachians. Yesterday was a fierce rain and wind storm in West Virginia late in the afternoon which slowed our progress plus a downed tree across the Interstate in Virginia that had us at a standstill for over 1/2 hour.

The funeral mass for my sister was attended by many. The priest that presided was the pastor many years ago and came back to officiate. He was able to personalize his homily about my sister. My sister was one of the original orchestra members at the parish that he had started back then and they played many of the songs she had requested for her funeral. Always a light-hearted,  the Recessional Hymn was a recording of "Happy Trails" by Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans followed by  "Amazing Grace" played by a Chicago PD Bagpipe Society member..

My brother was finally transferred to a different rehab facility late yesterday afternoon. The bought of pneumonia along with the 107 degree fever has affected him physically. It is almost as if it has progressed his Parkinson's. Unable to speak, he can only respond to questions with what sounds like yes or no. Our plan is to attend the wedding in six weeks of my niece and hopefully he is still with us then.

Stay Safe!

- Jack

Good morning to all.

Happy Saturday.

We had terrible thunderstorms last night.  Woke me up.  However, when they were finally over, I slept the rest of the night.  It is the first night in a long time that I managed to get a good night’s sleep.

Interesting collection of days.  i don’t go fishing.  Haven’t got a clue what to do.  I have been known to panic, but would rather picnic.

Those Italian Subs look delicious, but I could never eat all that.  It would take me a week to finish one of those.  Anyway, thank you @dfishfor the recipes.  I think I will pass on them.

As for the destination, I have been there and we are scheduled to stop there on our Christmas cruise.  Unfortunately, I do not have good memories of this port.  We wanted to go to an area called St. Anne, which had a beach and some shopping.  We met another couple and we were going to do the ship tour.  They got the last two places.  So Jim and I said we would take a taxi and meet them there.  Well, we got the taxi, never met the other couple, the taxi never came back for us as arranged and we almost missed the ship.  We were unable to get another taxi back to the ship and a woman who was shopping offered to take us back for 75 Euros.  We had no choice but to pay her to get back to the ship.

We were not happy campers.   On this cruise, we are staying on the ship.  I have no desire to repeat this fiasco.  And St. Anne was nothing to write home about either.

In all the times we have gone off on our own, it is the only time we had a bad experience.

@St. Louis SalNice to see you posting.  Sorry you are ill with Covid and hope you recover soon.

@HAL Sailerprayers for your nephew.  Glad he is out of ICU.

@Sharon in AZGreat pictures.  Glad you are enjoying Venice.  Hope you have a smooth journey home.

Prayers to all who need them and cheers to those celebrating.

God Bless,

Terri

Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily report.  Today’s meal suggestion is a favorite of mine.  Yesterday we had a storm front come through in the late afternoon and it poured.  Now we have low humidity and temperatures in the 60’s. I think it very comfortable DH thinks winter is here.😆. This weekend’s chore is to make the house look good for the pet sitter, confirm all is packed and figure out ArrivCan.  I hope that everyone has a good day today.

Love to fish, sometimes a good Italian sub is exactly the right meal. We are onboard in Honfleur, France. We decided that rather than take the free shuttle from ship to town, we would get off of the ship and walk around the pier area as the temperature at ‘Quai en Seine’ is 93 f and air quality is poor. We will return in October and are hopeful that the temperature will be cooler and the air a bit better. 🇫🇷

Good morning  to all.It is pleasant and breezy outside with an expected  high of 64.

I am in favor of picnics  not panics. I went deep sea fishing off the coast of Massachusetts  when our children were young and a good time was  had by all.

Like @dfish,I would have the inside of a sub these days but they are quite tasty.

@Heartgrove,The service for your sister sounded lovely.I hope your brother feels better soon  and that the rehab can help.

Take care everyone

Good morning fellow Daily-ites.

A calm, warm morning. The next 10 days will be up to 105. Jeez.

Debbie, I like the various sauces for your sub recipes. I'm not much of a sandwich eater, but as you said, remove the bread and it's a salad.

Sending up prayers for those on Roy's list. Sandi I hope you and DH are getting along OK. Ann, keep an eye on that cold and test again. Our neighbor thought she had a cold and 4 days later finally tested positive.

Sharon I don't want you and Craig packing yet. I want more Venice pictures! You looked cute with your little hat..

Claudio and his guys came yesterday. Took everything off the patio and front porch. Acid washed the flagstone and will be back today to put a sealer on it. The stones look beautiful.

Going to meet up with friends for lunch and do a bit of indoor shopping. It's just too hot to attend the Farmer's market today.

@Norseh2oI  hope you have better weather in Honfleur next trip. A wonderful small city.

@dfishHappy memories of the Galley in Kalamazoo.  My favorite was the #19.  Obviously it was a staple of my diet.  Loads of meats and cheese and they had a very hot Capicolla.  I worked my way through Nazareth College.

A great day today and we will go fishing. Very high barometric pressure and light wind out of the south so a little bit of rippling.  It was 43 when I got up.

Prayers for the lost parishioners in Birmingham, Alabama and their families and friends. Prayers for rescue for our lost volunteers in Ukraine. Prayers for all on the care list.🙏.  Thanks for the Daily Reports.

If you want butterflies plant chives. They come up like weeds but their flowers draw many butterflies and bees.  Have a great weekend!
