Ryszard is leaving the Quest tomorrow,  November 15, 2022.  He is scheduled to return to the Quest following his time off.  His replacement will be Marcelo Affonso, who is just as personable and wonderful as Ryszard.  Marcelo is on our Quest cruise now.  We love him!  When Ryszard returns to the Quest,  the current plan is for Marcelo to go to the Pursuit.  I am sure that you will love Marcelo, too!

Cruise Director - David Bradshaw (first cruise with AZ, ex Cunard and Crystal to name a few)

Almost the same on Onward as at 1 December but a new Assistant Cruise Director Martin Lawson from the UK. He was previously a production singer on Journey - very nice and outgoing.

We were told at the show on Onward last night Eric has gone home as his father was not well. He had asked that this information be shared and Martin the new ACD (doing a great job) said if you’re his friend on social media reach out to him. Sounds like the day before (at sea) had been very worrying for Eric but - the ultimate pro- you would not have known but he’d messaged Martin last night to say the news was a little better.

A second major clean up.  It's amazing how this thread shrinks when speculation, chit-chat and incomprehensible posts are removed:  211 posts down to 32 "just the facts, ma'am".

 

I sorely wish Azamara would put that page back on their website!!!

Thanks I am sorry Ngawhira will not be on my cruise. I am boarding on the 24th. I have not met Marcelo Alfonso yet. I am sure he will meet Azamara high standards for Hotel Directors.

We met Marcelo in October when he was on Quest learning the ropes alongside Ryszard. We were very impressed by him - very approachable.

We also met Marcelo on our Athens to Dubai cruise and we’re looking forward to seeing him again on 24th. We believe he’ll be a good fit for Azamara. Ngawhira is long overdue for some leave. I believe she said she’s been onboard for more than 9 months straight.

Looking forward to meet Marcelo Alonso on the Pursuit. Wishing Nghawira a lovely time off. She was on board on my last Azamara cruise in May last year.

Onboard the Journey, departing Cape Town on 4 March for Lisbon, up the west coast of Africa.   A nearly, but not quite, full house of 585 passengers.  A fair amount of following winds and seas as we left Cape Town, so more roll/pitch than we expected—not bad, but noticeable.  Temp on high 60’s F, so sitting on deck not enticing for long periods.

              First two dinners in MDR have been very good—food hot, service excellent.  Patio has not been open for dinner, yet…

Senior Officers on board include:

              Captain Filip Adelfoulakos

              Hotel Director Tomasz Jadczyk

Cruise Director Stephen Millet

Asst CD Sarah Hughes

F&B manager Mario Kucko

Chef Shijumon

Loyalty/ Future Cruise  Tine Schils

Of note, Daniel from Croatia, who was the manager of the specialty restaurants on the Quest for the past 12 years, is now the manager for all restaurants on the Journey.

 

After having this cruise cancelled out from under us at least twice since 2020  ( quite a few other passengers in the same boat, so to speak…), we are looking forward to lots of sea days, punctuated by strange and mysterious ports.
