Hi, I am planning  a last  minute trip in january from Europe to Florida  and I see that the summit is sailing on 01/26 miami  key west naussau miami.

Does the shorter cruise from celebrity  attracts more party people? Like carnival?  I like a more quiet cruise 🙂

Shorter cruises can be livelier. Younger guests with limited time off work can prefer these short breaks.

However, we have done a couple and found no real difference in ambiance than a longer cruise. Obviously, if they overlap Spring break or other holiday periods they can be a significantly different experience…

We did a 4 day cruise on M class only because we had a 5 day music charter following it was fine ,  not really a party cruise this was in February, did see one idiot who was in mdr with cutoff shorts and a baseball cap on backwards. Really surprised celebrity allowed that , I know it wouldn’t be allowed in Luminae.

Spring breakers don’t want to pay for a Celebrity cruise, if they’re on there, it’s most likely because their parents paid for them to be there.  Don’t think I’ve seen a sailing where there more than two dozen passengers in their 20s

We have never done a 4 or. 5 night cruise but have been on a number of Celebrity cruises with more than 2 dozen in their 2Os.  Did a TP about 8 years ago and there were at least  8 couples on their honeymoons, all in there 20s.  The ship actually scheduled a event for honeymooners to meet.  That group introduced use to  Cards Against Humanity.  On that same sailing there were a couple of large family groups that had ages ranging from 3-70 of which about a 3rd were between 18-30.
A recent Edge cruise we met a group of 10 couples traveling together most in their mid to late 20s and having a great time.

So passengers in their 20s are still a small percentage but

we find more and more on the E Class ships.

I've personally never seen more than two dozen, over all your sailings, is seeing more than two dozen common?  Did one Alaska sailing pre-pandemic and 9 since the restart including the 5th Edge sailing after the restart.  Most I saw was a 5-nighter over presidents day

We did a 5 nite cruise Sept 2021, an 11 nite in November 2021 & 7 nite in August 2022 (M-class)  and hard the same experience:  no real difference in guest behavior.  X is simply not a party ship in my experience.

I was just about to start a thread and saw this.

Did a 4ni over Thanksgiving. Ship full to capacity. There were very loud and disruptive guests on board. The cruise was nothing like any of my 5 past Celebrity sailings. We were in Aqua and at least had Blu to goto at night for a quiter more reserved experience away from the masses. The cruise much more resembled a Carnival short cruise experience than that of a Celebrity brand experience.  The crew is almost brand new and were already worn out. This I got first hand and even from the Concierge in confidence when I went to share my frustrations. Some guests had to be escorted back to their cabins for being too disruptive and extremely intoxicated in public area one night. Families with children had to leave public areas in early evenings due to the language and scene. With an Inside for 150$pp in South Florida, it is merely another short booze cruise, the X brand and experience is watered down almost completely.

If you are looking for a true Celebrity brand experience please look toward a 7ni from Ft Lauderdale. If you could care less about a party scene and just drinking it up for a few nights then by all means this will be fine for you.

Just as an aside several other well traveled Celebrity guests in Blu one evening were all sharing similar opinions and experiences.

Of course YMMV so this is just one persons perspective.

What ship were you on?

Summit. The ship is programmed to do 5/4ni sailings through winter and early spring this year and next year. I believe the experience  will vary with the lowest cabin fare for Interiors. As a TA I know from experience  that many local southeast US residents will book the cheapest (X offering <150$pp Interiors) long weekend cruise out of Miami that has a drink package available and they really dont care what brand is painted on the side of the ship (or the shape of the funnel). I heard a few guests talking about how they liked Carnival better. Our holiday TG sailing was just that. It was the only short cruise over TG leaving the 24th or 23rd (convenient sched) and it was less than 200$pp for an interior. I would willing to say that a 5ni to Grand Cayman and Mex during off season like mid January or early Dec may be ok.

Be very careful March-April until early May. Its Spring Break season there.

I agree 100% with your observations. In October we were onboard for the 12 day repo from Boston. It was a true Celebrity sailing experience.  We remained onboard for the 4 day and it was as if we were transformed into another universe.  I agree with those of you who have stated on your sailings the number of 20 somethings was limited. That was the case in years past, but at the going rate of $200 per person that is no longer the case.  Many onboard were loud, obnoxious and showed lack of manners.  Shorts, ballcaps, t-shirts and flip flops at dinner??  That is not the Celebrity that I've sailed with the past 25 years.

Spot on an accurate by my observations. Heres the thought I want to drive home. Some have said, and I 100% agree that Summit, the vessel in the past has indeed been an outstanding experience in line with what all of us as core Celeb clients are used to. Absolutely she is a great vessel and I dont disagree with your opinion. This is the change—— RCG chose to run Summit on short 4ni cruises out of Miami for <200$ even some cases <150$ pp for an entire season.  This is brand new and scheduled for 2022-2023 and again for 23-24. Trust me when I tell you that Booze Cruise buyers look first for their days off to match a ships sailing and then they check for cheapest rate and is there a drink package.  Thats how the Celebrity brand is going to get watered down. These booze cruise customers dont give a darn whats painted on the  side of the ship.

I spoke to crew on board, high ranking included that said after just a month since coming from NY theyre burned out from the booze cruisers. They apologized to me for the experience but they too are victims of this marketing and theater that RCG and Celebrity management set up.

I was in line for lunch with two young men in their 20s with no shirts or shoes only swim shorts. Nobody said a word. I walked off the ship after what was supposed to be a nice Thanksgiving with my family enjoying the Celebirty brand and experience and was really upset by what we had to endure for 4 days. We did this same cruise last yeat over TG on Millie, and it was a great typical Celebrity voyage from Ft Lauderdale.

I digress. I really just want to save my fellow X veteran fellow clients from wasting your time and money and having a bad experience. Book a 7ni from Ft Lauderdale. Trust me please.

I was on the Summit Nov 19-24 and other then there being a lot more kids on the cruise vs my 2 other Summit cruises and my Eclipse sailing in August, it wasn’t cuckoo crazy.

It was great to see more guests at night at the live band karaoke.

In Blu, there were a few guests that may have made some different cruise attire choices then I would have. One night a guest came in wearing a baseball cap and the restaurant manager came over and asked him if he would like him to store his hat.

I think rowdy behaviour/larger crowds are always going to be more of an issue dependent on the time of year, whether it’s a cruise, an all inclusive resort, Disney World or a hotel.  Thanksgiving week, Christmas Break, Spring Break don’t always reflect the overall vibe of a ship the other 48 weeks of the year.

You must not have heard of our now infamous cruise on Connie years ago. 700 college students. Officers having a meeting on how to 'take back the ship'.. students disembarked in Mexico due to damaging pool furniture.  Kids running down the hallways at night randomly banging on doors. Half naked teenage girls at the pool standing on loungers gyrating obscenely.  Kids so drunk they used wheelchairs to get them back on the ship. Not a common Celebrity experience for sure, but I was on that cruise and saw it with my own eyes.

Not sure if X had a "fire sale" or something, I believe you it just 700 college kids on any X ship would be an extremely rare occurrence which usually requires a "fire sale".
