The infamous coupon book

The Princess coupon book for an upcoming voyage arrived via E-mail today.

As usual, most of the coupons are of value only if you spend a bunch of money first (example: $100 off any diamond jewelry purchase).

But the interesting thing this time is where it says "All coupons expire at the end of cruise, unless an earlier date is stated."

The cruise starts 12/29/22 and ends 1/8/23. Since the coupon book says "Coupons expire December 31, 2022," they are even more useless since that is an earlier expiration date stated. Thus they are expired for 70% of the cruise.

Being in digital form, the coupon book can't even be used to prop open a door to get better Internet reception.

At least you got the coupons.  I've never received them....ever....for any of my cruises.

And why can't the 20% off liquor be used toward your Beverage Plan?????  You do spend more than $100 at one time.

And wow....You can now "lose" $20 + free $10 in the casino.

And everyone wants the free Platinum print after sitting through the sales pitch.

Lucky You.

This fantastic coupon book is provided by Princess through TAs at various times of the year. When we have received it in the past from those promotions, it was a booklet that was in the cabin on day 1.

As it says on the coupon, it is for use in "The Shops of Princess." Thus it cannot be used towards the beverage plan which is not sold in "The Shops of Princess."

The only coupon I ever remember being uses on those was the BOGO for the Crown Grill.  Might have had a coffee package discount, can't remember.

That was the only coupon we ever used and now it's gone.🥺

I had a bunch of them saved up when the Covid shutdown happened & never got the opportunity to use them. 😢

We got the coupon book via email prior to our Enchanted cruise. There was nothing of interest to us, so I simply hit the delete key.  At one time, a small bottle of wine was offered at the Crown Grille, not now. Besides many of us have the Plus package through our TA's. We have the Elite 10% on items at the shops - but the OB offer of buy one get the second at half price was a better deal - the sales person rang up the first item with 10% off then did a separate slip for the half price item.

If people don't use the coupons, this will be yet another thing to bite the dust with Princess. I wish they would send out a marketing survey to past passengers to inquire about potential offerings via coupons and then refine what is offered.

When and how do these coupons arrive??

For my upcoming cruise it was in an E-mail I received yesterday. The title was "Booking #xxxxxx: Your exclusive coupon book is here!"

In the past it was a printed booklet in the cabin on day 1 if the cruise had been booked with that TA promotion.

If you look at the coupons in my initial post, you can see the bottle of wine offer is still there for any specialty restaurant.

What passengers like is when they do not have to pay something to get some value. For example, $10 casino play without having to first play with your own money.

What Princess has been eliminating are the coupons that offer something for no $$ spending. Only one of the current coupons has that. Look for that to disappear from next year's booklet.

Which coupon offers something for no $$ money?

The free 8x10 Platinum Studio print requires no spending other than an investment in time spent for the sitting, review of the images, and the sales pitch.

And the fine print indicates reservations only on embarcation night - only reservation we could get, booking done on the delighful App as soon as reservations were open to book, was first formal night.  The "old" coupon, with no exp. date, was any time during your cruise. A few times I saved the coupons, to use on future cruises - no longer an option. I anticipate additional changes no only with Princess, but other cruise lines as well.

I had noticed something about the coupon book - haven't seen one in years.  So I went to our Feb 2024 booking and sure enough it's listed in the Travel Summary for both my DW and myself - listed value is $0.....sounds about right.

Our next cruise leaves this Friday and our TA sent us an e-mail showing that they provided us each a coupon book as well as some OBC. Haven't received a darn thing from Princess. As Elites, we get 10% off of our excursions anyhow and doubt Princess would give an extra 10%. I'll pass..

Have you checked your spam folder in your email?

I had the coupons in my email and internet sucked so bad, I couldn't bring them up. If you want to use them - print them before you leave.

The coupon books are if you book with a travel agent during specific times when they have specials such as $100 deposits.

No idea.  When I last got one it was a printed pamphlet

We received a link to one in December for our trip in Jan - however it says it expired at end of Dec - it was a link to a downloadable pdf in an email from Princess.  Just checked the link again and it has been refreshed to expire 12/23!
