Yesterday we docked in Singapore at 1:00 pm.  We had booked an excursion called Sights and Sound By Night which departed at 7:00 pm.  First stop was Marina Bay for the Lights and Sound show.  The music was from various operas.  It was spectacular.

Great pics, mysty. Much better day than last year. We were largely limited to indoors because of storms. Glad you enjoyed it.

I also remember our food hall lunch from 5 years ago lol

Today was a sea day en route to Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.  We did a Food & Wine Pairing in La Dame ($125 pp).  It was awesome.

Yesterday we were in Kuching, Sarawak, Borneo.  For the first time on this adventure, COVID testing reared its ugly head.  All passengers and all ship staff and crew had to have their temperature taken before the ship could be cleared by officials.  This resulted in delayed departures for excursions.

We went on the Sarawak Cultural Village tour.  It was a very good tour.

I was one of the 100 or so that headed to the orangutans.  Positive was we actually saw some, negative was sooooo many people as there were several other buses plus those in cars.

Quick wrap lunch I jumped onto the shuttle into the deserted centre of Kuching.  Kuching is the city of cats.

Today we were in Ho Chi Minh City.   I ventured out with Myster for the Saigonese Coffee Culture tour.  The first bit was a challenge.   Walking and stopping in the heat to listen to the guide over the roar of bikes and traffic.  First place we entered was not much of anything.  Second place had great coffee.  Third place had biter drip coffee.   Lunch was very good.  Pictures to follow.

Yesterday Myster headed out solo for the Ancient Hue and Perfume River excursion.  I canceled.  The tour was rated extensive and it was 8.5 hours long.  The heat and humidity would have done me in.

Hue is also known as the Imperial City of the Nguyen Emperors.  It is home to treasures from the last ruling family of Vietnam.  Photos from Myster's tour.....

Looks like fun! We're signed up for that during one of our visits on the WC segment next year.

Sorry JP, I'm with Mysty:  everything about this cruise lately shouts HHH (the famous NY summer forecast: "hazy, hot and humid").  I don't leave the house then, and I wouldn't leave the ship either.  I'd be sitting with Mysty at the (air-conditioned) bar, toasting her with a G&T!  😀

Unfortunately these fascinating places, so different to what we westerners are used to, are mostly very hot and humid all the year round, so it is hard to find the right time to make the most of them.

I hear that 1816 was a good year.

I had a recurring work assignment in Malaysia for several months each over several years.

Learned a lot, and almost got used to the HHH.

Of course, starting from Richmond helped with that.

My guess is Myster is doing the same thing!
