so funny!  No cats! But have 2 dogs who do the same.   We finally trained them by having the Alexa Show in the Living Room set an alarm every day.

They stare at Alexa for the last 30 minutes, waiting for the audible alarm.

it’s funny, one dog is starting to recognize numbers from the alarm time visually on the clock .

Good afternoon,

@aliaschief I can’t say I am sorry that my Chiefs won but I am sad that Mahomes got hurt. We all have our favorite teams and  I am sure that stung a bit.
@Cruising-along I am very sad to hear about your niece. This will be extra hard on her parents. I lost my oldest son unexpectedly to an unknown cardiac condition and I can say with experience losing a child no matter what the age is like no other pain you will feel.
@dfish I am anxious to try the fried rice. Thanks for the yummy recipes.

Actually I was very proud of where the Jags took themselves this year. Looking forward to next year. Congrats to KC.

Carolyn, I'm so sorry the news about Patricia is not good.  Your entire family, especially Patricia's two young daughter's and her close family are in our thoughts at this trying time.  Thank you for your pictures.  They brought back good memories of our trips along the Washington and Oregon coasts.

Carolyn, I'm very sorry to hear the news is not better about Patricia.  Prayers for the family as they wait for her passing.  She's much too young.  Her Dad's update was so sad.

The photos are great of Astoria.  Thank you.

@Cruising-along Thanks for the photos of Astoria. Prayers for Patricia and all the family; an awful decision to be made about taking her off life support, but necessary with no chance of brain recovery.

Thank you all SO much for your kind thoughts, prayers and hugs.  This is such a caring group. It just feels surreal right now.   @cruising sisterI'm so very sorry to hear that you lost your oldest son 😞  I do know how that pain affects a person and family, my sister also lost her oldest son when he was 17.  I'm so sorry.  I agree that it's like no other pain to lose a child.

Carolyn, I'm saddened but not really surprised by your news.  Hugs to your and the rest of Patricia's family.

I did check my passport and all it says is "in process".  There is an option to upgrade processing but that is actually all I was expecting since I think I get an email whenever the status changes.

I didn't notice the break in itineraries for Westerdam. I think you are correct and have updated the source. Thanks again for keeping up with this.

Also, Zuiderdam made the short jump to Moorea overnight and we will be here until 4:30pm

I hadn't noticed the break for the Oosterdam, on which I'm booked the following month. It had been discussed in the roll call for the canceled cruise, which isn't one that I followed. There's another sailing between the canceled one and mine.

Thank you Debbie and Roy.  All hugs are appreciated!  Roy you're right, it isn't surprising.  The odds have been against her. 😞

@Cruising-along hugs to you and your family.

If anyone is watching the Buffalo game right now, we are having the same weather here.  There is a fire crackling in the fireplace and pork chops and potatoes and carrots roasting in the oven. I made brownies and spice cake this afternoon.

Greetings Dailyites!  I’ve been following this thread , marveling at how it reflects all of our ups and downs, joys and sorrows.

Blessings to you all as you show the uncommon strength to be strong enough to lean on others, to be vulnerable, and to be bouyed by the joys of others through our own troughs.

I had a second career as a rural volunteer fire department EMT for 18 years in the mountains of NM. I soon learned that not everybody who dies is old! It is not possible to be prepared for loss, most especially loss of those younger. Over half of my patients who died were younger than me at the time, and I began this work at 48. I had 2 patients die with me at 40. They both had complex medical conditions. Of course everything we knew to do was done but they weren’t coming back.  When we rarely could get a conversion from cardiac arrest to a heartbeat, it meant the family would have a little time to say their goodbyes.

I learned in a new and visceral way that we don’t get to choose who lives and dies, we get to choose how we live our lives… with love, with courage, with hope every day no matter the odds.

And we have the privilege to walk the path alongside those we care about, near and far.

The Dailyites do that with grace, trust and compassion. Thank you!
Carolyn, your family, Patricia and her Care Team, you are in my heart and prayers. And all on the Care List, and those celebrating - having gotten through your challenges! Waiting to hear news about Kathi!
Blessings all, near and far, Maureen - now in Maryland, retired again….

@RMLincoln  Welcome to the daily!  A most loving group of instant friends, and spontaneous family.

I also meant to welcome @cruising sisterthe other day, but unless I write things down, they are in my head, and then gone.  And when I do write things down, I lose the paper I wrote on 75% of the time.  Please forgive my tardiness, and WELCOME!
