oh, then maybe I spoke too soon.  they still had snacks/food on my October Getaway cruise.  When did you see it was no longer offered?

Last cruise, Getaway in August. I will be on Prima in 2 weeks, I will check it out there and report back.

I also don't use ziploc baggies. Goes right there with plastic straws. Maybe I'm tacky but I do put food on my plate and bring it back to my stateroom; or even eat in the elevator! People walk around with food/drinks all the time. I never saw it as an issue

Eeeee gads! How darest thou use a plate for your food and not shovel it into a Ziploc bag.

This thread is so odd.

Not anymore. 😢 That was where I used to get my late night , casino shenanigans , sandwich. I was sad to see that go. A little sandwich later in the evening after my 6pm dinner was all I needed.

Yes there are.  At least on the Joy last week.

Has anyone tried putting a plate of food into a ziploc?  Problem solved...sanitary *and* proper.

Sorry...I just made the thread even odder. 😁

Doesn't NCL NOT want guests wandering around with plates of food?  I recall a thread about people freaking out that they couldn't "take " their O'Sheehans/Local food with them back to their rooms.  Just off the Joy and they did not want anyone taking plates away from the sit down restaurants (a dessert from The Food Republic had to be delivered, our friends couldn't take it with them) but I'm not sure on Buffett.

FYI - This used to be one of our favorite things to do back in day on Princess.  Eat in MDR, skip dessert and go raid the buffet for snacks/dessert and bring that back with us to our cabin.

Supposedly. I guarantee you if I want to take food away, I'm taking the food with me. 🙂 I'd order it and leave when it arrived.

I know...I'm worse than a Ziploc squirrel...probably more on the level of a garbage panda.

This thread has me seriously considering NOT putting in a bid for a balcony upgrade (from a Studio).  The Studio Lounge usually has plates of snacks out to walk in and grab at leisure, for those in a Studio cabin of course.  Unless THAT has become a thing of the past now also.

I was also on the joy last week.   And yes. No food from the sit down restaurants.
but go for it at the buffet. Lol.
I took a few breakfasts to my room early am.

My entitled self doesn't eat the wings as they're baked and don't taste good. Give me oil fried wings that are nice and crispy. Then I'll sit myself down and eat them. You know why? Because, I always prefer eating in a restaurant. I'm not a fan of eating in my room. In fact I've never ordered room service to my cabin. I did have an entree taken to my cabin for me as I didn't want to miss a show and the restaurant was too slow. That is an exception.

For those that would mention the Shanghai platter of dumplings from my last cruise...that was my husband's idea, not mine. 🙂

Oh please, cue the violins. You could just as easily say they could have planned better and eaten something before lining up at O'Sheehans. Guests were just as guilty as NCL there. But I would agree that providing something would have been better.

Perhaps it never occurred to the guest that there would not be extra available snacks and food later at night on New Year's Eve. Generally people snack and eat all night long on holidays like that. New Year's Eve here at home either our house or invited is an evening of a spread of food on the dining table all evening. Would have it been too much for NCL to have had the buffet open with light snacks till an hour or so after midnight? Shouldn't the cruise line....NOT the people, have anticipated there's be an obnoxious line of people at O'Sheenans on New Years Eve? ugh!  We are paying for an over all pleasant vacation experience. I was not on that ship and likely would have been in bed at 11. I don't eat that late at night unless I am at a party etc....so if I was out and about having a good time celebrating the New Year somewhere on the ship I would be pretty annoyed at a 2 hour wait to get food at the end of the night....especially since there is no "dinning room table" full of food to pick at all night long like there is at home.

I guess it'll occur to them NOW! 😁 Given how much food there is on cruise ships, which is insane, anyone who claims to go hungry on a cruise ship has only himself to blame. Seriously. We also have snacks on hand in our room on every cruise, something my wife always insists on doing. I really have no sympathy for people who plan poorly and then whine about not having any food. Do your research, people! The cruise line isn't there to cater to your every whim or, in this case, to anticipate your appetite. This reminds me of people who book a NYE or Xmas cruise and then complain that there were too many people. 🤣

There snacks in the observation deck.   Casino.  And the 24hr Resturant.
if you go hungry on a ship it’s your fault like you said.  Lolol.

I don't think the issue is people going hungry. The issue is a 2 hour wait for the 24 hour restaurant after 12 midnight on NEW YEARS EVE!!! No one is expecting you to feel sorry about that.  We are not talking about every night or every day access to food. We are talking about a "special occasion" when more then the usual amount of people will be celebrating and wanting something to eat after the clock turns midnight and after a night of drinking....then come to find a 2 hour line at the only place to get food.  Yes, NCL should be anticipating their paying guest desire ( not need ) for that. It's one dam night for heaven sakes.

Or guests should anticipate the need to make sure they have snacks for a 2 am face stuffing of food.   Planning is key on both ends.
