Worked great for me on this cruise. We kept bottle water in cabin and drank 4-5 bottles each a day, plus one at dinner before the alcoholic drinks started.

This is the first cruise I only noticed some mild edema.

Yes I would have at least 3 bottles during the day, then tried, didn't always succeed, to have a bottle in-between each drink.  I started out pretty good but somehow the drinks slipped in more at night.  Did end the night with at least 1 full bottle of water.

                                Burial at Sea

Many of the Bella cruisers would meet at the Schooner Bar. One of our gang is Marty @nasa1974.

One night I noticed Marty was at the bar drinking a bottle of Heineken beer. Standing next to his bottle was a Manhattan cocktail. I asked Marty if he drinks Manhattans and he said no. He told me he got the cocktail in memory of his late wife.  Marty shared that Sue would have a Manhattan at least once a cruise to honor Marty’s grandfather who she would share the drink with when they visited. Some nights he would have a glass of wine sitting next to his beer to honor his wife.  Marty did this every night.

I asked Marty to tell me about his wife. He went on to tell me that his wife had died of cancer in November of 2021 after a long battle.  I asked Marty about meeting her. He told me that they had met on a ski trip and fell instantly in love. They started cruising and they met Cruise Critic friends and fellow Bella Cruisers Joe and Amelia @Cruisingpeople.  The couples met on a cruise of the Panama Canal and became close friends.  They ended up going on 4 cruises together.

Marty told me he was going to bury Suzanne’s ashes at sea. He went through all the protocols with Royal and got a biodegradable urn for Sue’s ashes. We had set up a time to meet with the officers and do a ceremony on our last sea day.

I asked who was going to attend. He said Joe and Amelia of course since they were good friends. I asked if Linda and I could be there for him and he said yes.

On Day 7 at sea we met the Royal officers who took us to a special spot on ship away from people so Marty could have his personal moment. What happened next was a joyful, emotional moment.

I asked him if it was alright to document the burial at sea for him and his family to have for a memory. Marty also gave his blessing to have this video published so people can see what a burial at sea is like to honor their loved ones. The staff of Royal was so caring and nice. In the end we all cried and embraced. We then went to the schooner bar for a toast to Sue and to order another glass of wine for her. I think Marty will always cherish this moment. I know I did.

Cheers to you Suzanne may you rest in peace.

Beautiful! Just beautiful!

EEK, sorry for the length of my previous post. Sometimes I just don't know when to stop.🤭

I didn’t think it was long. Enjoyed reading it and really really wished I could have been part of it!

I've found for us that buying a couple of the (overpriced) water bottle packages forces us to drink many bottles of water a day to go through them all.

So I met my goal of gaining no more than 10 pounds on this cruise. I think a lot of it is liquid weight because I have already lost 1.5 pounds in a day.

I still have huge cankles. I’ve been sleeping at night with my feet elevated and it has helped. I figure a few more days and I should be ok. Going to need to figure out on future cruises what do to prevent this. Either by taking water pills or sitting in a sauna because I’m not willing to give up the good food and drinks. Any ideas on what you guys do or other tips out there?

Pillow under the covers aboard ship to elevate your feet. Don’t wait till you get home.
I’m a side sleeper, so there’s a soft pillow between my knees and a firmer one under my feet and ankles.
it really helps!

We buy the refreshment package, for Diet Coke and water. At all times we keep at least 10 bottles of water in that so called water cooler. Every time we’re out we stop at any bar and get 2 bottles each to bring back to cabin.

We had 2 leftover. Added to the gifts we gave to attendants.

Is phoebe able to watch the clips. ..she is always smiling and happy.

Yes! She's seen them on the phone. Going to hook it up to the TV so she can see it better.

When we were waiting to go into Studio B down by the Deck 3 Conference Room she knew we were going to go ice skating. She was very excited!

That's awesome may I ask what disability your daughter has. We have a special needs granddaughter and trying to decide if we could take her & her parents on a cruise.

Phoebe has CP (cerebral palsy).

On a pre-covid cruise we ran into two young women (18-19 yrs old) from another cruise ship while enjoying breakfast in San Juan. One of the girls wanted a picture of Phoebe because her disabled sister was never allowed to travel. She seemed quite shocked that Phoebe does frequently. Her plan was to show her father a different view.

Here is a quick video of our Grand Suite

the devilish 👹 6660

We have stayed in this exact suite twice now and location is great (schooner bar)

walkable 🤣.
And also important to some, very quiet location

I have many of our stays listed in signature if you want to also check out other lines and suites

Happy Days!

@CruiszBug You artfully captured the enjoyment of your dear Phoebe on the ice and the kindness of the skater who gave her the experience of floating around the ice rink.

Thank you for posting that video and the photos of your family enjoying the cruise.

Phoebe has been blessed with caring and loving parents.

I went back and reread the original post and am convinced you missed the inside joke he was sharing with you.  You mentioned salt in the water and ordered a bottle instead, but the next couple was willing to drink the water from the pitcher, so he said it was salt-free making sure you heard it and turned to look at you expecting you to smile back and share in the joke. The only thing that was missing was a wink from him.

I agree. Remember most crew...English is not their primary language and he probably was trying to make a joke...not insult you.

@Sea DogMy husband suggested to a friend to drink Pelligrino  on board at the start of the cruise. Tons of magnesium.  This worked wonders for her.

I will try it hat thank you.

Thank you so much for your kind comments! For those who don't recognize the skater, he is Marco and played the "Emperor" from Frozen in Time Ice show. When the Ice Captain asked for volunteers to be Phoebe's escort, his hand shot in the air first according to Michelle. He shared that he has an aunt who is also wheelchair bound that he takes ice skating! Brittany (our nurse) who was also out on the ice said that he was constantly talking to her! Humanity.

True. Many diversified cultures. I moved on because the dinner was excellent.
I will not complain about something like this especially since he wants to work, and is away from his family for months.
