RMLincoln Posted June 22, 2023 #27 Share Posted June 22, 2023 Another blessedly cool rainy day in Maryland. I am so grateful. Busy today, tomorrow and the weekend. This morning off to a financial meeting up in Columbia, on the way back we’ll drive to John’s Hopkins eye clinic to make sure we know the way for DHs Aug 1 surgery. Then I have yoga and tonight is church picnic, indoors if it’s raining. O night make a pie, married granddaughter coming tomorrow from NY for weekend to help with projects. Happy Birthday @ottahand7 DH. 🐟 let us know what you catch. Great your road is repaired and your boat is in! Enjoy! We enjoyed Montevideo. They kept the old and built the new. Very lovely people. We were there in 2013 😳 on our circle SA. Hard to believe it’s been 10 yrs! It was named for being the 5th mountain - Roman numeral V - counted from the explorer ships. Also have enjoyed Greenwich twice. The Observatory has so much history as well as lovely grounds. Blessings all! I’m running late already! Rare cruising sister Posted June 22, 2023 #28 Share Posted June 22, 2023 Good morning, I will start with Happy Birthday to the boys Roy and John! Yesterday was a busy and emotional one. I decided to sell the mustang. I had driven it only 5 times since my husband died and was nervous the whole time. The fun of it was doing it together and not by myself. I knew a guy at the Ford dealership was interested so I went there. Of course he was drooling once he saw it but wanted to sell me a car. I don’t like how Fords fit me so I was not interested. I was interested in a small to med size hybrid SUV with a third row but they are rare as hens teeth. I had a perfectly good 7 year old Acura RDX so I was only interested in a third row to make taking the grands and any friends in the car safer then cramming them in the back seat with car seats. To make a long story short and after looking again at the new MazdaCX 90 PHEV (which I had done previously) I ended up with 2022 Kia plug in hybrid. It was smaller than the Mazda and better fit for me the 90% of the time I am alone in the car. Since it was at the ford dealership and the excellent trade in money they gave me I paid very little for the car. (Great tax reduction). They even threw in seat protection plan. As per my usual self I cried in the dealership and the guys were emotional too. I know I made the right move and they gave me a very fair price and it will be in a good home. Now busy calling insurance etc. Prayers to all and have a great day. 28
StLouisCruisers Posted June 22, 2023 #29 Share Posted June 22, 2023 I notice this morning the time for Ren's game was moved to 8 a.m. It's apparently being broadcast on Apple TV but we don't have a subscription as we usually don't watch anything on there. From the Jaguars Academy Instagram post this morning. Lorraine @cruising sister congrats on making the decision to trade for a new car. I know selling the Mustang must have been very, very hard. I was attached to my Acura MDX that I sold to neighbors Brenda and Paul. Having to see it constantly since it lives right next door is extremely hard sometimes. They adore it though just like I did.
dfish Posted June 22, 2023 #30 Share Posted June 22, 2023 Good morning, everyone! It is another beautiful morning here in mid-Michigan. It is 67F with an expected high of 83F. Of course, there is abundant sunshine. We are supposed to get rain next week. I sure hope we do as we really need it. I love chocolate eclairs and onion rings. The Rain Forest deserves our respect and protection. The drink sounds good to me and the wine sounds heavenly. The only thing that doesn't appeal to me today is the meal. Too many carbs and I don't care for tofu. The recipes that fit the title of the meal exactly are behind paywalls and I won't pay for them. So, I found a couple that are pretty close. The first one has pineapple in it as well as the veggies. https://www.emilieeats.com/jerk-tofu-vegetable-and-rice-bowl/ The second recipe is a bit closer to the title of the meal. https://makeitdairyfree.com/vegan-jerk-tofu-rice-bowls-with-vegetables/ @ottahand7 Happy Birthday to your DF, John. @rafinmd Roy, enjoy attaining 80 today. That is a milestone that is denied to many. We'll celebrate tomorrow! @Seasick Sailor It was good to hear from you. I hope things are resolving and we look forward to hearing from you soon. @StLouisCruisers I am glad the water issues were repaired before there was any damage. Water is a homeowners nightmare. @JazzyV I want to echo the poster who said that you are meticulous in noticing what others post. I also have to go back and read posts after reading your lists. Thank you for keeping track of all of us! Wishing you all a wonderful day. 20

I'll pass on the eclair and onion rings but celebrate Rainforests. Rodney Dangerfield sure has a way with quips. Loved Montevideo, been there 4 times (Crystal Symphony 2016, Crystal Serenity 2017, Zaandam 2017, and Prinsendam 2019. A very popular port on South American cruises and a very nice one. Establishment of an Observatory in Greenwich was a great day in history. I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Pinnacle Burger and Sorbet, my lunch on MS Prinsendam May 31, 2015. Today I attain age 80 (birthday tomorrow) and lose a molar. It is chilly and rainy and I hope not to need to be out at the worst times. I can't really pamper myself as I need to be at my church twice, morning for a teaching session on our AV system and again tonight to go over Sunday's service. Roy Happy Birthday Roy! As far as the Rodney quote, I am not a sap but since our family tree does not fork I can’t locate the family roots! 😀 14
aliaschief Posted June 22, 2023 #32 Share Posted June 22, 2023 Good afternoon from the Channel Islands and beautiful Saint Peter Port,Guernsey. Another beautiful day. On our own we hired a taxi and went to a beautiful Apple farm, had a guided tour and saw how they make their popular ciders. Cider is 6% alcohol. Also enjoyed a variety of cheeses, biscuits and apple chutney. Now enjoying some quiet time on our balcony. Tomorrow we visit St Malo and have an excursion to see Majestic St Mont Michael. @rafinmdHappy Birthday a day early. Thanks for the report and to all our loyal contributors. 25

ger_77 Posted June 22, 2023 #34 Share Posted June 22, 2023 Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! I haven't had a chocolate eclair in ages, and usually give my onion rings to DH, as I'm very picky about their size. I dislike the thick cut ones, much preferring the thin sliced, crispy inside kind. We need to protect our rainforests. Well yesterday was a bust weather-wise; we shouldn't have to wear a sweater on the first day of summer! It was cloudy most of the day and even when the sun did make an appearance, there was a cold wind blowing. Today is starting off bright, clear and sunny, and even though it's only 10C (50F), it's supposed to get up to an acceptable 23 (74) later in the day and increasing in warmth as we go through the weekend. We have a major traffic issue in our city; there are 5 bridges across the river connecting the two sides of the city, but more importantly, to the downtown core, and 1 is shut down for complete resurfacing. Yesterday morning firefighters were called out to the largest of the remaining 4 bridges because a homeless person apparently made his home under one of the spans and had made a fire to keep warm that got away on him. Firefighters had a terrible time reaching the source, as it was in one of the spans in the middle of the river and it had gotten into the old wooden supports embedded in the concrete, making it a real headache. After several hours they were able to put out the fire, but now engineers are involved, checking to make sure the bridge structure hasn't been compromised. SO glad we don't have to use that bridge and feel bad for folks needing to get to and from work. @ottahand7 Happy Birthday to your DH with many healthy returns of the day! Happy Birthday for tomorrow @rafinmd - you're going to be a busy guy! Good luck to Ren and the Jaguars @StLouisCruisers. @kazu how is Ivan doing? @Seasick SailorI hope you and DH aren't having serious health issues; will keep you in my prayers. Not a lot happening today, just heading out for lunch with a friend who is an admin assistant in our city's largest elementary school. We haven't had a chance to get together for a long time, so it will be good to catch up, even though she's only got an hour for her lunch break. It's a busy time of year with only 1 more week of school, but it's good for her to get away from the chaos for a bit of a break. Because of the bridge closures, I've already plotted my way across the city and will have to leave quite a bit earlier to allow for the added traffic. I'll take a pass on the drink of the day, same with the wine, and a big no on the menu suggestion. Yesterday I was planning on making stuffed peppers for dinner, but a widowed friend of ours stopped by early in the afternoon - she said she was craving home made fried chicken, made up a big batch and knew we'd enjoy some, so shared it with us. It was delicious, so today is our stuffed peppers dinner that - now that the temperature has warmed up - will be enjoyed on the deck tonight. And wine. Prayers for all who need them, especially those in the submersible, and for the people of Ukraine. Cheers to everyone with celebrations. Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️ Gerry 26

marshhawk Posted June 22, 2023 #37 Share Posted June 22, 2023 Good Thursday Morning Dailyites! Yesterdays storm were quite interesting, no heavy winds, no tornadoes, but we lost power 3 times, and kept having to reconnect the computers. When I took the trash out, I noticed our street light on our pole with a transformer was out. We actually would have had a dark sky to see the stars....if it wasnt cloudy and rainy. And it still is, the temp is 63 and it's misting, and very cloudy. @aliaschief When you get to St Mont Michael, can you check to see if the Mer Poulard is still in business? When we lived in France back in the 60's that was our go to for omelets and I have very fond memories of our adventures there. My father loved going there, and Chartres and those were our weekend trips when he was not traveling on his own for business. If I ever get back to France, St Mont Michael is the only place on my go back to place. Enjoying your vacation through your pictures! Thank you. @rafinmdI know you explained to us last year about celebration day and actual age change, but I didn't understand it then, and still dont, so wishes will come tomorrow. Seems that the pain in the back is radiating from a disc in the back, I think I have been sitting too much, because it seems to lessen when i am up and moving (even bending down to pull pine trees) my docs office wont see me if I'm coughing, but I will try to get an appointment . I need to fix breakfast, or wake DH up to take me out. Hmmmmm. 23
StLouisCruisers Posted June 22, 2023 #38 Share Posted June 22, 2023 Annie @marshhawk everybody has a cough here and there. Seems like they are neglecting you by not seeing you because of a cough. I wish you had a new doctor to take a look at you. Just got a text from DS. We are down 3 to 2 at halftime and it's been an entertaining game so far, he said. Not sure what that means! He said the goals were from Ren and Colton. I'm nervous! The Jags are playing the #1 seeded team so they must be good.😬 18

Quartzsite Cruiser Posted June 22, 2023 #40 Share Posted June 22, 2023 Good morning from a partly sunny central Texas. When I started my walk about an hour ago, it was pleasant outside, 74F, with just a touch of humidity. By the time I finished, the sun was out and it was beginning to get warmer, but not bad. That's when I wimped out and only did the middle length walk. It is currently 78F and feels like 84F. We'll get to about 94F this afternoon. Last night, while we were supposed to get heavy rains and wind, it was pleasant for our golf cart ride. It was in the lower 80s with low humidity and no wind. We didn't get any rain as all the storms went north and south of us. Sandi, @StLouisCruisers I know the Jaguars are already playing in Frisco where it is 80F and feels like 85F. The humidity there is a bit lower and there is a 9 mph wind, so it shouldn't be too bad there right now. Fingers crossed 🤞 that Ren, Colton and the rest of the team have a good game and move on to the finals. Just read your update on the game. I hope the second half is better for the Jaguars. Chocolate Éclair day and onion ring day will definitely be celebrated in this house even though we probably won't have either one today. Our rain forests need all the protection we can give them. I always loved Rodney Dangerfield's one liners. We'll pass on the meal, drink and the wine. We visited Montevideo twice, in 1999 on Noordam III and in 2015 on Ruby Princess. I'll repost my pictures from 2015 in a few minutes. In honor of the anniversary of the establishment of Royal Greenwich Observatory here are a couple of pictures from our visit in 2009. @ottahand7 Nancy, please wish John a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY from us. Enjoy your day fishing now that the road is fixed and the boat is in the water. Thank you for your Montevideo pictures. @Seasick Sailor Joy, I was sorry to read about the medical issues and the appointments. I hope things are better now. @rafinmd Roy, HAPPY ATTAINMENT DAY! I hope the extraction isn't too rough and you do not have a difficult time afterwards. @cruising sister Lorraine, I know that was a difficult decision to sell the Mustang, but under the circumstances, I can understand why you made the decision. I still miss my 1989 Mustang GT 5.0. @ger_77 Gerry, that could be a mess with two of the five bridges out of commission. Enjoy your lunch with your friend. @marshhawk Annie, I hope you can get some help with the back pain. Both my DH and my father were prescribed exercises to strengthen the back and core muscles when they had disc problems. The exercises kept my father from having back surgery the rest of his life. Unfortunately, DH needed surgery to relieve pain from a pinched sciatic nerve. Lenda 15 2
Quartzsite Cruiser Posted June 22, 2023 #41 Share Posted June 22, 2023 We have been to Montevideo twice. The first time was in 1999 on the old Noordam in the time of non digital cameras. The second was in 2015 on the Ruby Princess. We walked around town some and then took the Ho-Ho. When we saw the long line at the first stop, we just stayed on until we got back to the starting point. My pictures are just random ones from the Ho-Ho and from our walk. We were there on a Sunday, and most of the stores were closed. The activity picked up a little in the afternoon. Some scenes from our Ho-Ho ride. A view of their lovely beaches. After our tour, we walked around and back to the port. These are from an indoor arcade. Some interesting things around the port entrance. Pictures as we sailed, including the lighthouse on top of the building. Lenda 23

JazzyV Posted June 22, 2023 #46 Share Posted June 22, 2023 (edited) Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. I'm not an eclair fan. I like onion rings, but haven't had any in years. We need to protect the rainforests. Funny Dangerfield quote. I'll pass on the meal (tofu), drink and wine. Somehow I missed the Royal Greenwich Observatory on my several trips to the UK. I have been to Montevideo. It's on the cloudy side today, with rain later, but not too hot. Just puttering around this AM. Later, I will be going with BFF to my mentor's 69th Anniversary dinner. I haven't seen any of these folks since before Covid. I know lots of their friends, as many years ago the couple acted as bonus parents and I spent most holidays at their house with their family and friends. @ottahand7 Thanks for the photos. Happy Birthday to DF John! @StLouisCruisers I had an issue with my water pressure being too high; my water filter at the kitchen sink sprang a leak. After some reading, I purchased a gauge to measure the pressure at my laundry tub. It was 90 instead of 50. So the plumber came and replaced the pressure regulator where the water comes into the house. I guess they go bad after a while. It sounds like you found great plumbers. I tried to find the soccer game on Apple TV, but couldn't find it, only MLS. @Seasick Sailor Good to see you here, and prayers for all medical issues. @rafinmd Congrats on attaining age 80 today! I hope the dental procedure is relatively painless. @Nickelpenny Enjoy your travels. It reminds me of the 2 driving trips I did with BFF on the way to National Parks; I was doing lots of oohing and aahing at all the sights. @cruising sister It does sound like it was emotional selling the Mustang, but you did what you needed to do. I have an Acura RDX and I love it; I had an MDX before, but it was just too big for me as it's usually just me in it. It's a 2015, and I don't even have 30,000 miles on it. They keep eyeing it at the dealer, but I don't want a new car payment. I'd like a hybrid for my next car. @aliaschief Lovely photos. Enjoy Mont St Michel tomorrow. I was there many years ago. @ger_77 Oh my on that fire. I live in the "City of Bridges" and whenever one is closed it's a headache for someone. @marshhawk Sorry you're still in pain and I hope you can get into your doctor's office. It doesn't sound right that they won't see you because of your cough; maybe if you wore a mask? @Quartzsite Cruiser @sailingdutchy Great photos.
