Vaping in Casino on Equinox

It’s been more than 15 years. Smoking was allowed in the casino on Millennium on our first cruise, which was in 2006. By 2013 the casino was non-smoking.

I do recall on our first cruise in 2005, half of the ship (with the exception of the dining room) was smoking, inside and out. I think it was about 2008 or 2009 that inside became non-smoking.

If Celebrity allow vaping in the casino we will be looking elsewhere

we now only have a B2B cruise booked for March 24 and a Hawaii to Vancouver booked in May 25. We will not be booking again if this happens. Seems the new CEO wants to turn Celebrity into Royal.

Question for the experienced cruisers; are the current smoking areas packed on ships like the smoking rooms in airports?  Were those folks sending emails to corporate complaining about the "no smoking" policies?  Seems odd that corporate would change the policy unless the majority of pax were complaining.  Then again....

For what it’s worth, virtually nobody was vaping in the casino. Also, I didn’t notice much smoking outside near the Sunset Bar (in the designated area). There were a few cigar smokers there on occasion. (They sell cigars at that bar.)

Excepting the casino, Celebrity ships were definitely nonsmoking in all inside areas by May 2006. This was one of the reasons we chose Celebrity for our first cruise.

Perhaps this is part of the "testing" Celebrity is doing on Equinox, like the double cheeseburger on the dinner menu? Allowing vaping in the casino removes one of the few positives that set Celebrity apart from other lines.

Once word gets out, I think we will see much more of this. I know some people who deliberately avoid Celebrity due to their stringent rules against smoking. When word spreads that things are relaxing over at Celebrity, I think we’ll see a lot more of it.

That's likely because, up to now, it hasn't been allowed. So no one does it for the time being. Like @Georgia_Peaches,I suspect the word will get around quickly.

And although I know we can't always trust this, the update date on that page is January 2021.  Are you sure this is a change?

It has already been proven that they have not been updating the date when making changes as the bottle of wine per person change went in a few weeks ago with no date change...

I will be Emailing Celebrity (executiveoffice@celebrity.com) post cruise and in my PCS  if vaping is allowed in the casino on our October Eclipse cruise voicing my dissatisfaction with that decision.  What's next. On the balconies and in the staterooms!

We're currently on Apex.  I smell vape in our cabin, we don't vape.  Yesterday a cabin door was opened as we were walking down the hall about five or six cabins away from ours.   A cloud of the same aroma wafted out.  Obviously the cabin attendant is aware but not telling them no vaping.  Sign of future policies?

Speaking of carry-on wine, @Georgia_Peaches do your cruise docs allow you to bring 1 or 2 bottles pp on board?

The clouds of vapor will start leaving chalky, powdery residue on surfaces. I’ve seen it. I’m not a fan of either smoking or vaping.

No, a sign of disrespectful entitled passengers

I saw a photo on a social media site that was taken on the Equinox. No Smoking Vaping Allowed. This is news to me.

tbdi - I Am sure it is news to many others who may want or need to use 'e-cigarettes' and other tobacco products aboard any X vessel...

Most of the current policies, rather they are followed or not aboard, can be found at X's website.

Yet the policy for smoking and etc. can be found here, it is very clear, IMO.

In health and bon voyage

Celebrity’s smoking policy is what led us to choosing Celebrity in the first place. I haven’t had the need to review the policy since 2010, and vaping wasn’t around then.  I do remember some discussion on this board regarding vaping, but at the time the consensus was no smoking or vaping.

Hope vaping  is limited to the Casino if they must have it. We never go in there but recall when smoking was allowed there.. horrible air quality even just walking through..  Terrible setback!

There are enough places for smokers already.  Dh likes his cigar but goes outside to the designated areas.

Hope they never allow it elsewhere indoors like bars, theater,  dining areas or lounge areas.

Slippery Slope!

A few years ago I was very unwell for many weeks after sitting beside someone who was vaping at a concert. Since then I have an allergy to many vaping products and can instantly feel my airways closing if I inhale any of the "smoke". The smoking ban including ban on vaping generally has been a godsend and I would never set foot on a ship that allowed it in any confined spaces,

OMG to say I am beyond disappointed with Celebrity is an understatement!  I can't believe they are even testing this out.  If anyone has any remaining doubts that this is the continued Royalization of Celebrity this has to seal the deal.  This is a horrible idea.
