1ANGELCAT Posted July 7, 2023 #26 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Good miserable humid morning. It’s 77 with a real feel of 96, I hate the humidity. Need to run some errands and then I plan to stay home in the air conditioning. Blessings and prayers to all on our lists. Especially for Murphy.

Heartgrove Posted July 7, 2023 #29 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Thank you Rich, thank you Debbie, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work. And thank you everyone for being here! We have been to Civitavecchia twice, once to embark/disembark and once as a port call. These photos are of our first time in 2019 to board the Nieuw Statendam on a Western/Eastern Mediterranean Collector's Voyage. Between our B2B, Sue and I just liesurely walked through the town as we didn't want to do the trek to Rome. Most cruisers 1st view of their sailing adventure. Our first view of the Nieuw Statendam One of the many ferries that sail from here. One of the defenses to protect ancient Civitavecchia. The sailaway. The sailaway. And we are definitely underway as the pilot boat departs. Stay Safe! - Jack 32
Rare ottahand7 Posted July 7, 2023 #30 Share Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) Photos from our very brief Rome visit. We had a Vatican scholar as our guide for an evening tour. We did after hours but it was extremely crowded nonetheless. We both arrived home 48 hours later with horrible colds. A little Rome food porn from my brief walk around. The technical part of the surgery is done but lasted a little longer than they thought. She had a hole between the two ventricles that took longer to repair. She did not transition off the heart / lung machine well so they put her on ECMO until her heart pumps better. I have not had an update to how she did overnight yet. Continued prayers are asked. Thank you for the update. Continued prayers for Murphy and her parents and family. 🙏

Rare Nickelpenny Posted July 7, 2023 #33 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Good Morning to All! I am a verified choco-holic presently on a 12 step program and the world needs to learn to forgive. Not sure of the drink and food (not a fan of coconut or grape) but I have been to Rome but not the port. Backpacked Europe in 2021 and stayed in Rome for 4 days at a hostel. I had a blast. I was thinking of little Murphy all day yesterday and woke up this morning to find out some news. I hope all the prayers and thoughts from here reach her to help her get through this. ECMO will help the heart rest and heal. Thoughts to others on the care list and cheers to those cruising or celebrating. Have a great Friday everyone!

dfish Posted July 7, 2023 #35 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Good morning, everyone! We have a cool start to a beautiful day here in mid-Michigan. We bought paint yesterday to finish the trim around the roof of the house and will do what we can before we bring in reinforcements to climb the ladder and do the peak. Healing thoughts go out to @cruising sister baby Murphy. May her complications resolve and she progress quickly. Prayers for @mamaofami's friend Judi. May her passing be peaceful. Also hoping that @kazu's Ivan perks up. I hope the vet has some answers for you, Jacqui! @StLouisCruisers Sandi, I can't believe our cruise is so close! We have to plan a get together! I'll take the chocolate, please. Forgiveness is always important, more so for the person who is doing the forgiveness. I used to take walks with my dad. Once, we were in the UP for a wedding and had some extra time, so decided to hike into a waterfall. Well, it was black fly season and the hike ended with me running back to the car and my dad beating my back with his jacket to get all the flies off me. We had some adventures. Today's meal is one I might like if it were made for me. It sounds like something that would be in Rudi's Sel de Mer. https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/black-bass-with-coconut-herb-salad That is really the only recipe I found that fits the description. This next one comes close, though. https://practicewithdanielle.com/tamarind-branzino-with-coconut-and-herbs/ I'd go with the first one myself. Wishing you all a wonderful day. 24
smitty34877 Posted July 7, 2023 #36 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Good morning from a humid and hot NY. I just received the pathology report which was amazingly good.(Maureen, @RMLincoln)I just shared the good news with our immediate family and happily share it with all of you. We have been to the port and Rome twice and had a wonderful time.Thank you to all for the pictures. I like the quote and often procrastinate, especially after retirement. I would like the sea bass but no one else would. Chocolate is very popular here but I am an odd one and go for other things...like vanilla! It leaves more for the others. Enjoy the day everyone 32
ger_77 Posted July 7, 2023 #37 Share Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! @richwmnyou devil, you had me at chocolate! Global forgiveness would be nice, but doubt it could ever happen. How I'd love to take just one more walk with my dad. Love today's quote - that's often what happens when you're retired, though. We've been to today's port a couple of times - first as a departure port, then on another B2B, it was a turnaround port. That time we bade farewell to DH's daughter and husband who were flying home, and when the ship had cleared out, walked a few blocks to a little wine shop to get a couple of bottles for our cabin. We stopped on the way back and sat at a sidewalk cafe enjoying coffee and pastries before returning to the ship. Nice memories. Had some good news yesterday - a friend I haven't seen in a long time who had originally said they wouldn't be able to join us for Summerfest on Saturday called yesterday to say plans had changed, and could they still join us? Of course; there's always room for more in our back yard! We had a nice dinner for DH's daughter's birthday, although it wasn't at Red Lobster as originally planned. At the last minute she decided she wanted to try a new little pizzaria in their neighbourhood, so off we went. The food was good, thin crust pizzas are always appreciated, and the music wasn't so loud you couldn't carry on a decent conversation. We gave her our gift, then DH went out to the car, saying he'd forgotten something - when he returned, he presented me with a large box containing a purse I'd seen when we were at the Indigenous Canada Day celebrations on the weekend. It's design was created by an amazing artist, and it's something I'll treasure always. I'll get a photo of it later this morning and will post it; it's quite striking, and is absolutely beautiful. DH has always been so thoughtful, and this is just another example of the things he does for me. @mamaofamiprayers for your dear friend Judi that she will have a peaceful, pain free transition into the next life. @cruising sisterfervent prayers for dear baby Murphy. Sending up prayers for the families of the firefighters who lost their lives yesterday in Newark. @smitty34877 I'm so happy you had good news re: the pathology report!! Today will be busy getting ready for tomorrow's barbecue, beginning with a stop at the dollar store to buy some things to keep the littles busy - there will be 5 or 6 of them, so I think balloons, ring toss, and colouring crafts will help keep them occupied for a little while. I love my friends, but am not about to use my "good" wine to make sangria, so will stop by and pick up a bottle of inexpensive red wine as well. We've got brandy in the liquor cabinet, so I don't need to buy any more of that. I'd like to try today's menu suggestion, but would like to order it in a restaurant, rather than making it myself (yes, I'm lazy). It's Friday night pizza night, and we won't have to order any, since there were plenty of leftovers from last night's birthday dinner. We'll enjoy our reheated pizza on the deck tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who is in need, cheers to all with celebrations. Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️ Gerry Edited July 7, 2023 by ger_77

aliaschief Posted July 7, 2023 #40 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Good morning. A wonderful sleep until 7:30. Woke up to somewhat overcast skies and a temperature of 77F. Will rise to 90 and a 51% chance of rain at 3 PM. So 49% chance it won’t rain. Enjoyed seeing our small group friends last night and we have not discussed any plans yet for today. We did get the trust for our estate done yesterday and it should all be completed for final review and signatures end of the month. @JazzyVcaught my mistake yesterday on the dates for our 21 October Seabourn cruise. That’s the latest we have done a Canada to Florida repositioning cruise so I’m not expecting much foliage and places like Bar Harbor may be closing down for the season. Somewhere they will be serving lobster and fat belly fried clams. Prayers for baby Murphy and Carol’s friend. Have a great Friday and enjoy your weekend. Thanks to Rich and our loyal contributing editors. Now here’s the comics! 10

kochleffel Posted July 7, 2023 #45 Share Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) I think that the might be the second forgiveness day that we've had recently. I'd be OK on the fish but not so much with the coconut. No on the drink. Yes on the wine, if it were in budget. From the Finger Lakes, Chateau LaFayette Reneau Unoaked Chardonnay 2021. My first cruise was from Civitavecchia. I can't locate my photos from Rome, but I want to post about the Basilica San Clemente al Laterano in Rome. The present basilica was built around 1100, with decoration continuing for several centuries, atop a fourth-century basilica atop a first-century building that housed a temple of Mithra, probably built over the ruins of a house burned in the Great Fire of 64. It has been excavated down to the Mithra level; here are pictures from its official website. The basilica has been owned and staffed since the 17th century by Irish Dominicans, who undertook the excavations starting in the 1950s. During World War II, Jewish religious services were held there, as it was considered extraterritorial property of the Republic of Ireland. It also houses relics of St. Cyril and is a pilgrimage site for Slavic Christians. The location is outside the principal tourist orbit but it is still busy enough that there are timed tickets to enter the excavations. RMLincoln Posted July 7, 2023 #46 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Terry @smitty34877 that’s grand! Hoping you all can have a calm day. Praying for Amazing! for baby Murphy. They are very lucky to have a neonate ECHO! Thanks @cruising sister for keeping us posted. @mamaofami Carol, so sorry for your many losses. Lifting you up and prayers for your friend Jodi and her loved ones. @kazu Jacqui, hoping your excellent and caring vets can get Ivan and you on a better track. Blessings to all in need of healing, comfort or hope! Cheers to all celebrating. Life is Good! 🌈 Smooth travels for all who are away. Chocolate Day is certainly worth celebrating. It used to be every day on HAL! Thanks for the good memories @GTVCRUISER ! Starting out hot and humid but rain storms are expected. Maybe I’ll get to the indoor pool for hip exercises this afternoon. Last week I overdid it and could walk the next day…. PT can be like that but the long term benefit is the goal! Maureen 21
marshhawk Posted July 7, 2023 #47 Share Posted July 7, 2023 @smitty34877Glad you got a good report! @cruising sisterPrayers for Baby Murphy and the family. @mamaofamiI am sorry to read about your friend Judi. Hugs. Well apparently I don't seem to fit into anyone's campaigns right now, so who knows, I may actually have to clean the house! 🙀 And that will take up the entire month of July. Good Friday Morning Dailyites! Wednesday we had some real heavy rains, yesterday we had thunder, with sunshine, and today, they are talking pop ups. I have therapy this morning and then on the phones for the last day of Arizona opera. Now I cant sell tickets to you but for folks in AZ, you are getting a great opera this October, Frankenstein. I say great only because the people who saw it in London loved the set, the story and the music. I wish I could afford to travel more, just to see the "things" in the world. 23
NextOne Posted July 7, 2023 #48 Share Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) Good morning, friends! I'm here earlier than usual today because I'm prepping for this afternoon's entertainment -- a colonoscopy! My home office is quite close to the other necessary facility - lol! Praying for Baby Murphy and her family. Also praying for all the others on the list, including @mamaofami's friend Judi. It's hard to lose those who have been so close to us for so long. I'm a fan of chocolate, thinking that global forgiveness isn't impossible but unlikely, and miss those walks with my Dad. He was a lovely and kind man. I've been to Civitavecchia twice, but only to board ships after visiting Rome. My pictures would all be repeats of those already posted. In two weeks I fly to Boston, so I can board the Zuiderdam the next day for the Voyage of the Vikings! This will be my first really long solo trip, but I'm very excited about it, particularly since I was able to snag a reasonable upgrade from inside to verandah. We have a very active Roll Call, so there will be lots of new friends to make! Edited July 7, 2023 by NextOne 23
