Good morning all!

I would love to try the meal, especially the 2nd recipe.  Not today though, I would have to go shopping for some of the ingredients and I'd rather be in the garden today.  It will be our last sunny day for at least a week.

Will pass on the red wine and drink, we've been to Corfu numerous times.  Will share a few photos from our last visit.

Yesterday DH went to the walk-in clinic because he's had a cough and general fatigue for weeks.  Appointments with his doctor aren't available until November, and they recommended he go to the walk-in.  I'm glad he did, because he found out he has a mild case of pneumonia!  It was a surprise, although he is prone to bronchitis and usually gets that.  So he'll be starting antibiotics today.

Carol @mamaofami I'm so sorry to hear that your DH is back in the hospital and hope he recovers quickly.

Some of my photos from visits to Corfu.  These are from different visits, just some I found interesting and/or beautiful.

We have been about 5 times in Kerkira and explored the beautiful Island of Corfu to its fullest most of the time with our wonderful driver / guide Dimitris , I have chosen today pictures from when we were in Corfu in 2016 while we were on the Koningsdam without too much commentary today because I am also busy filling my suitcase for when we are leaving on Tuesday to Athens to meet up with the Oosterdam .

It is very easy to find our driver among the huge crowd of drivers at the entrance of the port !

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, we had three bookings.  We had booked 2 21 day cruises last winter and then took advantage of another "deal" for the 10 day so we have three bookings.

@Nickelpenny  I doubt you will get soft clothes with more fabric softener.   We line dry our clothes at the cabin because we run off solar.   Our clothes are fairly stiff and it ttakes a lot of shaking to try to get some of the wrinkles out.   We get really spoiled by tumble dried clothes, for the ease and the feel.   Those line dried towels sure do absorb well though.   I hope you can get a new dryer soon.

John did some research on our oven with issues and one youtube said to run the self clean because sometimes it causes the panel to reset.   We are cleaning it now,  I usually wait for cool weather so it is perfect to do today.

The more booking numbers the better when it comes to shareholder credits. 👍

Love the photos today, Tony.  Sarande is coming up in early November but you will be on a cruise then.  And I looked for a post from you the one time we've had Sarande in the past, but you didn't post photos that day.  Otherwise I would have copied them and pasted to the Daily for you.  Maybe next time you can post your no doubt wonderful photos.

Good afternoon from a sunny and windy central Texas.  It is 80F with a 15 mph wind.  Even with the clouds earlier and the wind, I was hot and sweaty by the time I finished the yard work.  The sage is cut back drastically, but not as much as last year.  The iris are replanted, and I tried to keep them out of areas where the sage will put them in too much shade once they grow out next spring.  Finally, one bag of mulch was enough for both flower beds to make them look a bit fresher.  I thing my hard work on the yard this year paid off.  It looks better than it has in several years.

Our crazy fall weather has arrived.  It will be 76F tomorrow and then 71F the next two days, with lows in the mid 40s.  After that, our highs will range from the low 80s to the upper 70s for the next two weeks.  Dressing appropriately for the weather will undoubtedly require a few changes of clothes during the day.  It will be sunny all but one or two days, and there is no prediction of rain.

Good morning. It will only get up to 64 today and it has been in the forties at night. My DD DH was a confirmed skeptic and some of it must have rubbed off on me. The cod recipe is a possibility tonight as the teenager has requested fish and I think he will like romanesco sauce. I have not been to Corfu but it looks like a wonderful place to visit. The PBS series “The Darrell’s” was filmed there as well and I was always stunned by the beautiful scenery.

Tana and the new aide seem to be doing well together. I am waiting for my shoulders to relax and working on just getting through the days. We are planning a “gathering” for Lou in the beginning of November and the family has sent us many pictures taken over the years so we could display them there. It will be in one of the Irish pubs in the neighborhood. I am glad we waited a while to do this. I would have still been in shock if there was a service right away.

This is a picture of DD’s two black kitties. They are a hoot.

Terry, I'm glad that Tana and the new aide are working well together.  That should make it easier for Tana and the rest of you.  Your gathering for Lou sounds like it will be a true Irish wake.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  DH is skeptical about a number of things.  My silly saying is:  You can grow old, but you don't have to grow up.  Sight is so important and needs to be protected.

We've got an overcast and breezy day again - wow, the leaves are really coming down, although I can still see a couple of poplar trees behind us that are fully green.  If they come down after a snow, that means a real mess for us in spring.  A few minutes ago we had about 20 geese noisily flying over the yard in a southerly direction - maybe they know something we don't?

DH's daughter and her mother are also on the Nieuw Amsterdam and she messaged us the other day to say that Guatemala was being removed from the itinerary due to civil unrest and rioting in the streets.  Today they are supposed to be in El Salvador; not sure that's a much better option, but that's where they are.  I mentioned the safety factor to her and was told they were going on a ship's excursion, so keeping our fingers crossed for all of them!

@mamaofamiI'm sorry to hear Sam spent so little time at home and is now back in hospital.  Hopefully they can get his breathing under control so he can return to you quickly.

I know @marshhawkusually doesn't check in once they've left for a trip, but do wish them safety and happiness as they explore Rome before heading to their cruise.

In about an hour I'm going to call the physician's office to see what the results were of the x-rays and ultrasound on my shoulder.  While watching the ultrasound, I asked the technician what one of the images was; her reply:  "That's where Neil Armstrong landed on the moon."   Then apologized that she couldn't tell me anything.  At all.  I understood, but enjoyed her humour.

Not a lot on our agenda today, although DH wants to go out and get a few things from the hardware store - it seems he's running out of nuts and bolts, who knew?!  LOL  I'm going to give the drink a pass, am sure I'd like the wine, and would love to try the menu suggestion, just not today.  It's Friday night pizza night at our house, so if we head out to the hardware store late this afternoon, we'll stop by one of the shops and pick up something hot and gooey to enjoy at the kitchen table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, particularly those in Israel and Ukraine.  Cheers to all with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Gerry

Gerry, I'm am sorry to see that Guatemala has been removed from itineraries because of unrest.  I hope the results of your x-rays and ultrasound on your shoulder do not show a major problem, but something that is easily fixed.  I laughed that your DH was running out of nuts and bolts.  I think my DH has some he could have shared, along with screw of all sizes and types.  😉  I bet they both have a lot of "just in case" things.

Downright chilly here today. It was 25F when the dogs and I ambled forth. I need to get Monty's coat out although it is supposed to warm a bit the next few days. No signs of any wildlife which is the way I like it especially when it is not quite light.

Little going on here. I am having trouble getting motivated to do much of anything and think I will give myself a day to regroup and organize. Laundry does need to be done and I think the flannel sheets need to go on the bed. My heaters are turned low just now while I wait for an electrician to come and reset the timers which seem to be way off for some reason. I will run my friend back in to have the cataract surgery checked. She admits the operation was very easy and she is not worried about having the other eye done in a couple of weeks.

Take care all.

Susan

Susan, I'm glad to hear that your friend now thinks the cataract surgery was easy and is not worried about the other one in two weeks.

Nancy, I hope the oven cleaning resets the control panel.  We had to replace ours twice early on, but once we found out what was causing the problem, it has worked well.

We’ve been fortunate to visit Corfu many times and am enjoying all the pictures today.  Like @smitty34877 we loved watching the Durrells in Corfu. Last time we visited the Beach and the time before we hired a private boat so explored by water and saw where the Durrells actually lived.   They also provide an onboard barbecue of local fish and treats.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

A little skepticism is good, I think. I have no silly sayings. I will salute world sight day, especially given my own eye issue, which can threaten sight. I like the quote. Pass on the meal (fish) and drink, and yes to the wine. I haven't been to Corfu Island. All good days in history.

It's 67 and sunny, but rain (heavy) overnight and all the way through Monday. Yesterday I slept 2 hours in my recliner due to the Benadryl I took for my injection. That didn't stop me from sleeping last night, although I awoke at 6:30 with pain (just in time to post the Care List!). I did fall back asleep for a bit. Then I had PT. I really need to mow the lawn, due to the upcoming rain, but I don't feel like it.

@StLouisCruisers Great photos as always. Happy Anniversary to DD and DSIL.

@mamaofami I'm so sorry to hear that Sam is back in the hospital. And that alarm going off to disturb your sleep was not what you needed.

@cat shepard Today my arm is finally not sore from the RSV shot last Saturday; it seems to hang on. Now I just have to schedule the other two.

@rafinmd Another great sunrise. Safe trip home today.

@Heartgrove Very nice photos from Corfu.

@Mr. Boston Thanks for the Corfu photos.

@Cruzin Terri That looks like a nice tour you had.

@kochleffel Interesting photos.

@smitty34877 I'm glad the aide and Tana are doing well together. I do hope you can get some relaxation time in for yourself.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Wonderful photos from Corfu.

@ger_77 I hope the tests give some answers.

@Overhead Fred Beautiful scenery there.

@Sharon in AZ Nice photos from the palaces and grounds.

@ottahand7 It would be great if that works for the oven.

@Cruising-along It certainly was a good thing DH went to the walk-in clinic. I hope he's feeling better soon. Excellent photos from Corfu.

@sailingdutchy Thanks for sharing your photos.

@bennybear Interesting photos. Thanks.

Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating.

Silly sayings in honor of today:

A place for every thing, and a thing for every place.

I may be slow....but I ain't quick.  <-- y'know, I actually do say that one a lot. Don't need to wait for silly sayings day.

And now back to lurking.

One of the assignments for my class yesterday was to draw (or photograph, if you can't draw, and I can't) some outdoor plant matter; if photograph, study the plant as carefully as you would if you were going to draw it. Here are my pix.

Yellowmum1.thumb.JPG.a0a6c2070bb040db4caafbba3d4033a7.JPGleavesagainstsky.thumb.JPG.a0f51b8178d00eb9985c415736b06447.JPGbrowningleaf.thumb.JPG.6dcaff658d2b9d6fea9d03e3aac27ffd.JPG

I've reluctantly ordered a Pacsafe day bag, plus a second Air Tag since I'll check two bags on the outbound, and four more small locks for the various zippers on those bags. I don't lock any bags that I'm going to check, not even with TSA-complaint locks--there have been too many reports that TSA cut or smashed locks rather than use their key, maybe because many of their keys have been lost or stolen. The locks are just for the trains in Spain.

Skeptics and silly sayings seem appropriately fitted to share a day; sight deserves to be celebrated every day.

Mr Cummings may be right...

Pass on the meal and drink k, would try the wine, have not been to Corfu but will be there Nov 1!! Yay for a new port!!

Interesting collection of days. MS Biles sure accomplished a lot at a young age, she no doubt felt all that weight later.

Currently at our high of 79, Wed is supposed to be 82.

Work started early this morning and I'm just coming up for air, so late reading and contributing here - I find myself really looking forward to seeing what others have going on and appreciate you all bringing us into your circle and sharing. It's not just children that benefit from A Village...

I got 2 more transfers booked today, but they were way more than we said we were comfortable paying. But with my shoulder, I just don't see us dragging luggage through the streets of Rome to take a train...

Prayers and positive thoughts for all.

Thank you to all who posted the beautiful photos of Corfu. I would love to go there but I am afraid I couldn't walk very far because I would have to stop and pet each of those neat looking cats.

I am a few days behind because my son is here visiting for 2 weeks. It has been 2 1/2 years since we last saw each other, and we are both enjoying just quiet togatherness. Today is his 63rd birthday. Ouch, that makes me feel old. (Not really, I readily admit to my age.) On Monday we will have a family celebration dinner at Osaka for him.

My favorite silly saying is "If I had a brain I would be dangerous"

Good morning friends!  It is damp outside and 59F.  We only expect a high of 64, cloudy with some afternoon showers possible.  Still any day you wake up is a good day!  Thank you Rich @richwmn for your Daily and Fleet Report for this Friday the 13th.

Apparently it is International Skeptics Day but I'm not entirely sure about that. 😉  I hope I don't say too many silly things today, but most importantly it is World Sight Day.  All of us should be grateful for our sight and not take it for granted.  I'll pass on the cod dish, the Beam and Hops (?) and the wine.  Three interesting days in history.  Even though I wouldn't partake in the food and beverage I thank Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for their reports on them.

Prayers for so many.  The people on the Care list, especially those with chronic pain.  The people of Israel and Ukraine, my DB, my friend Susan's DH Scott and DB Mark, and especially for dear little Baby Murphy who has such an uncertain future.🙏  But we must remember to celebrate!  Those of us cruising, preparing to or just returning.  Ann @cat shepard for her sister and her own safety from tornadoes.  And even improvement in the health of our Dailyites since we have had some good news there.🎉  Happy wedding anniversary to my DD today.  I hope they celebrate even if it is Friday the 13th.  Don't wait for tomorrow!🥂  Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for your keeping of the lists for us!  Wonderful job!

The port of the day is Corfu Island, Kerkyra (or Kerkira), Greece.  It was listed here once before on Oct. 2, 2022 spelled as Kerkira.  I'll post the link to that date for you.  I have been there three times (2012 Crown Princess, 2017 Westerdam and 2018 Pacific Princess).  Pictures from the 2017 visit to follow since we had the best weather that trip.  It was August.

We arrived in Kerkira on the island of Corfu, Greece on Aug. 20, 2017 on Westerdam.  It was a pretty day for a change.  We hadn't had good luck weather-wise there before.  But it would be worse on the next visit after this one.  In 2018 we were there on Pacific Princess on Nov. 27 and got totally drenched down to our socks walking back to the ship. 00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLljeKs24M83EfYYAqi1qR6?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1503943747

We enjoyed this sunny, not wet day in Kerkira.  Here is a photo of a rainbow as we left Kerkira, Corfu in Nov. 2018 after heavy rainfall.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

Good luck today everyone!  Have a wonderful day.

Great photos Sandi.

An update on the dental situation:  Sara had two implants successfully started yesterday.  Looks like a good dentist; no problems and very little pain today.  I made a call to the VA hospital dental dept. yesterday.  Got thru after 45 minutes.  Instead of a bottle of wine while waiting I popped a bowl of popcorn to snack on.  Talked to the person, told her my situation and problem and she promised to pass the info on to the dental people and they would call me back.  They called back this morning stating that they are taking care of getting my "Community Care Referral" and I can expect a call back next week.  I asked if that meant Monday and they said probably not.  Tomorrow is the monthly DAV meeting in Bremerton.  I plan to attend and get some insight on how other veterans are dealing with this same problem.  Luckily there is no urgency on my part to get this dental work done.

Good evening all, I hope everyone had a good day. I never got to post yesterday but I hope everyone is doing well I was to Corfu on KDAM premier sailing in 2016. I remember going to the Achelon palace and just a tour around the island.
I have an update on Barb from her husband. She is wiped out from the chemotherapy and still not gaining any weight. Next week is an off week with no treatment and they hope to go to the mountains for a few days 🙏🤞

Blessings and prayers to all on our lists.
