Lady Hudson Posted December 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 26, 2023 My sister left a very expensive item on the Vision. Royal is telling her she cannot call the ship directly to ask if it was found — that she has to file a claim with Royal in Miami and not ask the ship if anything was found. Anyone have experience with that? Does that sound right — she cannot call the ship directly?

I have read a number of posts in the past that suggest lost items are processed through a company called [something like] charger back (someone please correct me if I've got that name wrong). There is a live thread on the boards by a poster who is on board Vision right now. Might be worth asking them if they might be able to assist. bouhunter Posted December 26, 2023 #3 Share Posted December 26, 2023 RCCL is infamous for lost items never being returned from the "lost and found" department. Wish you luck but don't get your hopes up.

Rare 1025cruise Posted December 26, 2023 #5 Share Posted December 26, 2023 Yes, she needs to follow Royal's procedure. All L+F are collected/sorted after the ship departs for the next cruise, and sent to the main office when they get back. At that point, they look for the items to match the claims. Rare A&L_Ont Posted December 26, 2023 #6 Share Posted December 26, 2023 My MIL got her Nintendo 3DS back from the ship. There are some positive stories.
klfrodo Posted December 26, 2023 #7 Share Posted December 26, 2023 Either way, you're going to have to file a claim with Royal if she decides to file an insurance claim for the lost/stolen/misplaced piece of jewelry. The insurance company will require the official claim denial from Royal that the piece couldn't be located with the insurance claim. They'll also require a copy of the original receipt from when it was purchased. And then, the insurance for lost jewelry is limited at $500. MommaBear55 Posted December 27, 2023 #8 Share Posted December 27, 2023 I got back my Kindle, they located it right away but it took another few weeks to actually receive it, as it stayed on the ship for a trip it two

OP said "expensive item", no mention of jewelry.
RocCruisers Posted December 27, 2023 #11 Share Posted December 27, 2023 I left my wife's phone on board. Called the number when we got home, and the Guest Services person go to chargerback.com. Took a couple weeks to get it back, but at least I got out of the dog house. 2
mmcgann11 Posted December 28, 2023 #12 Share Posted December 28, 2023 I left my iPad on Vision in October. Put in a claim with RCCL, but nothing came of it. Insurance/Applecare covered replacement, though, so it worked out in the end. But I wouldn't count on ever seeing your lost item again.
Lady Hudson Posted December 28, 2023 Author #13 Share Posted December 28, 2023 Thanks for all your responses. My sister followed the protocol for lost items as directed by RCI. Hopefully there is a positive ending to this situation. Again, thank you. Katherine
