WJ open past 9pm - Would this be a draw for you?

Late night buffet.  Single servings. Snacks.  Get away from the reserved loungers on the pool deck, and stroll the Promenade / Central Park.  I've never been disappointed with Cafe Promenade or Sorento's

More offerings then just pizza would be great.  Not a whole buffet of food but more than pizza. They have room in Sorentos or Park Cafe to just add a few things.

I'm not sure what came of it but when I was on Wonder in June, they would re-open the Dog House at 10 or 10:30pm for late night hot dogs. Not exactly what I personally wanted but it was something.

Hmmm, I see my joke about the ziplocs ridiculousness missed:)...

Yes, you can't take food off anyway (at least not legally), so the previous poster's concern that it would be the "snack off board" is an obvious non-worry...

Don't tell them, let them find out on their own...

In our younger days sure, it would have drawn us. Now that we are older, not so much. We've always been surprised that Royal doesn't have more options late, for those who do wish to eat late.

I don’t tend to eat that late, though on a few cruises I’ve had a late craving or my sleep cycle was still in the wrong time zone.  Room service isn’t the answer if family members are sleeping.  Some late night bite options would be nice then.  It wouldn’t have to be WJ.  It could be a smaller venue.

I haven’t visited WJ in years

West Jersey isn't that bad. Keeping the Windjammer open later seems like a waste. Offering a better variety, later, at other locations would be fine.

I think the draw for me would be 50% for another venue for some food that would be less crowded, but the other 50% is a nice large area to sit, relax and visit -perhaps a card game, etc.   Try sitting and relaxing in Sorrentos at 10pm.

I don’t pick Sorrentos as a spot to sit and relax at any time of day.  The seating doez not seem especially conducive to relaxation…perhaps that’s intentional so people can find a seat to eat pizza rather than seats occupied by people relaxing long term.

I actually love the late night pizza and ranger cookie options - but Sorrento's  is normally just a zoo after 9pm.

I'm from upstate NY where they know how to make a pizza. Sorrento's is cardboard with ketchup on it so I won't eat that. I eat the cookies from Cafe Promenade but only because the other choices are quite often slim or sold out.

Late night buffet? Where? Sometimes they offer it once during a 7-night sailing. Maybe they have it more frequently on the bigger ships? I've never been on a ship bigger than Freedom class, so I've never seen Central Park either. As I mentioned above, I usually find Cafe Promenade very disappointing.

I tend to eat too much already, so would not stop into WJ after 9.

HOWEVER, in my younger (thirstier, if you get what I mean) years, if they opened a White Castle or Krystal type venue from midnight to 2AM, I would be there most nights.

NOTE TO RCL- Revenue idea…….Pay option White Castle or Krystal open midnight to 2 AM….people will stay at bars later spending on drinks just to pay for sliders at midnight!  Win, win.  No Midnight buffet….its Midnight Sliders!

Sorry about the onion smell.

It does close early but it seems to fit what most passengers want. Royal is a family cruise line. I don't see the demand for a late night grill venue that some other cruise lines run. I'd rather see the pizza improved and the sandwiches kept stocked in the snack bar.

I think so, maybe.

I'm a night owl & will be one of those shutting down the casino. So late night dining options appeal to me. I could see the WJ staying open to at least to midnight offering a limited menu of fast food, snackey type options.  Maybe on a made-to-order basis to limit waste. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc.  And if not the WJ, maybe Park Cafe or the English Pub on ships that have them?

The reason I say maybe is because I've never gone hungry late at night. Late dinner + Sorrentos + Cafe Promenade gets the job done.

Two words...Room Service😉

Two words, dollars and waiting. Guess that’s actually 3 words. 😀

Edited - So for a few cookies it’ll cost 8.00. No thanks.

Yup, another pay option is just what we need to go along with the skyrocketing cruise fares.

Most passengers? The bars are pretty packed at midnight on this family oriented cruise line.

When I said "Try relaxing in Sorrentos after 10pm", I meant that it's impossible, so having the WJ at least partially open later in the evening would give me a place to sit and relax and chat/visit while grabbing a bite.

Cruises are nothing but a highly sophisticated calculation of how to extract the most money out of the most people. The cruise lines have made billions of dollars by perfecting this calculus.  If there was a profitable reason for it, the Windjammer would be open every night from 2am to 3am with midget strippers serving haggis and baby reindeer skewers.

If it doesn't generate a further profit, they're not going to do it.  And it takes a lot of hubris to believe you're just going to "think" of something their entire department of money extractors working full time year round haven't already thoroughly vetted.
