The Fleet Report and Daily for Thursday January 18th,

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

No customers to get to know. Maintenance Day is every day when you have a house. I like gourmet coffee, but won't pay the prices they want. True quote. I like the meal, pass on the drink and yes to the wine. I haven't been to Newport, RI.

Today is the calm before the storm. Snow will start tonight and they're predicting 3"-5". I am going to cancel my specialist appointment tomorrow, even though it may take a while to get another appointment (this can wait). I just don't want to be out there slipping and sliding. I will go to PT today, although it's hard with my legs wrapped, then I'm in for the next few days. Monday we'll finally get above freezing for the first time in about 10 days! Sleep was a bit better last night. No word from the radiologist - I just hope he got the MRI disc.

@kochleffel Welcome home!

@seagarsmoker Good luck with your interview this afternoon. Fingers crossed for a good outcome.

@kazu Thanks for starting the Daily today. I'm glad you got some help with the driveway.

@aliaschief Thanks for sharing your day in Lima.

@ger_77 Sorry to hear of the decline of the fellow who helped with DH's video. Sad.

@Sharon in AZ You should be ok as long as the vaccines are inactive. I can't take any live vaccines like MMR, yellow fever, chickenpox due to my RA biologic. Nice Newport photos.

@marshhawk I'm sorry to hear they couldn't fix everything for DH at his procedure yesterday and that he requires further intervention. I hope he will follow the instructions, especially trying to quit smoking. as that affects circulation.

@rafinmd Thank you for our maps.

@Haljo1935 Sorry you have to cancel your cruise due to your shoulder and surgery coming up.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Condolences on the loss of your 2 friends. I had 2 classmates I was close to but sadly one died young due to breast cancer; the other I only "see" on FB occasionally. Nice Newport photos.

@ottahand7 Sorry you had another rough night. Let's hope tonight is better.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

Coming home from my hair appointment I stopped at the waterfall at the entrance to our neighborhood and took a photo of the ice.  Always interesting even though we see that quite a few times each winter.  Temp is only 44 currently, rising to about 50 so it will melt some and then freeze again tonight.

Yep, the grass is dormant and its dull tan color lasts all winter long.

@marshhawk so sorry Chuck has to go back for more surgery.

Two rough nights, hallucinations and last night coughing I am under the covers in our cool room and try to get some sleep.  Clouds and sun here in St. Lucia.  We are going to try to have dinner on our balcony tonight,  very windy this trip so far.  Very high winds last night.

Nancy, I'm sorry you had another rough night with coughing.  I hope you feel better soon.

@Quartzsite Cruiser We should try that drink on the Koningsdam!  I think it sounds refreshing as well and would be great after a day touring volcanoes.

@marshhawk Annie, you have your hands full.  Wishing you luck!

Debbie, I agree about trying the drink.  The only ingredient I don't anything about is elderflower.  Looking it up, it is used to make a cordial and for medicinal purposes, including medicines to help with colds and flu.  I usually don't get mixed drinks but this one sounds good.

Good morning (almost afternoon) from the snowy Pacific Northwest.

Another day in snow and ice here. It's supposed to warm up later. Meanwhile the grader did come down the road yesterday and my mailman has made it both days but not the garbage man. I had a call from Amazon Delivery to say they couldn't get here and I assured the person who called that I totally understood and they can wait until Monday to deliver if they want (it's just a jigsaw puzzle).

All the districts in our county are closed today (and were yesterday) and the county north of us, which is harder hit, is also closed. To the south it's more 2-hour late start. I'm so glad to be retired!!

No to coffee - it stunts my growth! Maybe on the potatoes and there's always maintenance to do around my place but I'm a low-maintenance type of person.

My neighbors finally got water back yesterday and I'm hoping to not have to have my taps running after this afternoon as it's all supposed to turn to rain. Meanwhile back to cleaning and organizing my craft room and working on my to-do list all from the comfy cozy inside of my place!

I was thinking the same thing!  I actually order it several times during a cruise.  I find it light, sip-able and very enjoyable.

I have crossed my fingers. Sadly I have not trained my toes to cross. I think they are too old to be trainable.

I think this is going to take several sessions to try all our drinks.  I hope someone is keeping a list.

Thank you Vanessa, I did read that but am just concerned.  I am just very cautious at this point since I just started treatment.  I don't want to regress in anyway.  This has been a tough road and I am just now seeing a very, very slight improvement.

I don't do many cocktails, I'm always just a SB (preferably from New Zealand) wine kind of girl.  However, this one is nice and enjoyable once in a while.  I'll join you and Lenda and hopefully Dixie will too.

We went to Blythe to get the tool to work on the kitchen sink faucet, but they didn't have it.  I did get a few things at the grocery store I hadn't been able to find.  It has turned warm this afternoon, so I thing I'll sit outside with my book for a while.

Debbie, I doubt if I'll be much help with the research.  I would like a taste of the Chocolate Chicken and would try the Hugo, but like @Sharon in AZ Sharon, I'm more of a wine person, but I don't drink that much anytime (mostly).  Many of the recipes @summer slope Dixie has worked so hard to research just have not appealed to me.

It's been a bit of a strange afternoon.  My appointment was at 1 and as I left the house about 12:15 a couple of utility trucks had pulled up in the neighborhood.  The treatment went as expected and I next see this doctor February 22.  (I see my regular Oncologist Monday and my primary Tuesday).

When I got home about 2:30 I had to park on the opposite side of the street as utilities were investigating a water  main break and the main involved is on my side of the street.  Somehow they even got a car moved that hasn't gone anywhere in weeks.  A bit later they came around and told my m=they would be shutting off the water soon for 4-6 hours but I can live with that.  They are now digging directly in front of my house.

I went to PT and declined the soft tissue massage at the end. On Tuesday it nearly had me in tears, as it sets off the nerve and the tingling was so painful I nearly had him stop in the middle. I cancelled that specialist appointment for tomorrow due to the snow forecast, and it's now in March. That's what happened when the Doctor had Covid, and tomorrow's was from the cancellation list, which I'm on again.

I understand Sharon. My concern when getting vaccines for Covid, flu and RSV was how well I'd respond, since my immune system is dampened down by the biologic, which I will have been on 2 years in June. I had 4 Covid vaccines before starting it, and seemed to have more of a reaction, although I'm not sure that relates to how well you respond to them..

I am much the same way.  I prefer a non-sweet white wine.  I do like a spicy Gewurtraminer, but they are hard to find.  But, with the drink package I am willing to give it a try.

Good Thursday afternoon to everyone.

I’m a bit late today.  Got up late and then had some stuff to do before going for the ultrasound on my feet.

Unfortunately I had to go to Hilton Head for it and the traffic was fierce both ways.

I was told that i should hear from the Podiatrist tomorrow regarding the results.

Thank you to Jacqui @kazu for the Daily and Fleet Report and to Roy @rafinmd for the maps.

Thank you to Vanessa @JazzyV for the Lists and our comings and goings.  You are so good at what you do.  I am sorry that you are still in so much pain.   I agree with your decision to postpone the Specialist appointment tomorrow, given the horrendous weather forecast.

Thank you also to Ann @cat shepard, Dixie @summer slope in the beverage department and to Debbie @dfish for the wonderful receipt.  Thank you for giving us a main to go with the side.

The days are interesting.  i do not have any customers.  However, I do appreciate the vendors and service providers who have taken the time to get to know me.   As for Maintenence, I agree with Vanessa that when you own a house, every day is Maintenance Day.  I am all for Gourmet Coffee.  I really enjoy a good cup of coffee, especially in the morning. Maybe a second or thrid.

i agree with the quote. However I don’t wish to pass judgement on anyone who does or does not go to Church.

@seagarsmoker i hope you aced the third interview and you are offered the job.  My fingers and toes and crossed for you.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Lenda, My condolences on the passing of your two friends.

@marshhawk i am sorry that Chuck needs further surgery.

If I missed anyone, I’m sorry.  You are all in my prayers.

I hope that all who are cruising and getting ready to cruise are happily enjoying their time at sea or happily anticipating their upcoming journeys.

I hope everyone is having a great day.

God Bless,

Terri

Lines down on our way 2,300 nautical miles to Easter Island. The Peace Boat is in port.

Love Sail Aways. The new Filipino band that boarded today is very good.

I have been reading a very interesting non fiction book called Fire Weather about the 2016 fire in Ft. McMurray.  The author also writes a lot about the oil industry in this area. It is a fascinating read. He references the youtube videos of the fire which I viewed and it was frightening to see this fire consume most of the entire town.

@seagarsmoker good luck and I hope you hear positive news about the job.

@Quartzsite Cruisersorry about the passing of your friends from high school. We have a large facebook group from my high school class and it is always so sad to see the passing of my classmates, some of whom I have known since elementary school.

@JazzyV Vanessa so glad you canceled your appointment and got someone to do the snow clearing. Please be safe tomorrow.

@marshhawk sorry to hear about Chuck's need for more surgery.  It is hard to take care of spouses who do defy doctor's orders.

@Kazu glad you also got someone to help with the ice/snow.

@ottahand7 I hope you feel better soon. It is no fun to be sick on a cruise.

I love mashed potatoes but I don't eat them that often since they are loaded with calories. My husband makes very good ones with Yukon gold potatoes.

Thanks to all who make the daily a wonderful place to visit.
