How late can we dine?

Hello,

We will be on the Beyond, 8 night ABC islands on April 27th sailing.  I noticed that elegant night (to us the best menu) is on the fourth day when we are docked in Aruba until 11pm.  We will be spending the day on the island, curious as to how late can we show up for dinner in the MDR?  Is it possible we can walk in for 10pm dinner.  Does anybody know what time they shut the doors for dinner?  Thank you.

Haven't been on Beyond, but all other ships I've been on the MDR is open for dinner from 5:30 - 9:00pm. Buffet open until 9.30pm. Late night snacks start at 10 so that might be your only option, along with pizza and pasta.

I would be very surprised if this ended up being true.

I am thinking that the menu's shown on the app may change when I get on the ship.  Never on all my over 100 cruises I taken, elegant night been on a port day.

We have had some elegant nights on Port days, but having very recently sailed your exact itinerary on Beyond, I would bet money that the Chic nights are nights 2 and 7, with the latter night (2nd chic night; betting day 7) having the ‘best’ menu.

Dinner is 5 to 9:30 according to my app. We sail Beyond in November so I checked that date.  I personally think 10 arrival would be too late.  Consider the staff please.

Suggest you speak to the dining room Maitre D on a night before you arrive in Aruba and make a late dining plan.  That way, they can't say you're too late as long as you follow "the plan".

OR

Aruba has some lovely restaurants and a late departure makes dinner at one a great possibility.  We have done that in Aruba at Passions on the Beach.  Toes in the sand dinner.  Great fun!

9:00 to 9:30 is as late as they seat. If you show up at the last minute your service will be very rushed. Most of the MDR staff have other venues to work after dinner hours and they need you out of there.

OT: Since I know you're a TA I wanted to ask you a question. Do TA's or Celebrity's own booking agents have access to bed placement on E-Class ships? I know the trick to figuring it out from the Deck plans (since Celebrity doesn't given indications on the Deck Plans) but I'm wondering if there's a Cheat Sheet so to speak.

The menus in the app before sailing are often the menu for current sailing of the ship.  We have had 12 night cruises where the app showed every restaurant and dining room Venue Closed after morning 8.  The ship was doing a 7 N cruise.

I thought the indentations on the deck plans were the clue...

Yes, they are, but my question is whether that information is somehow coded on the systems that TAs and/or Celebrity's own agents use. In other words do those professionals have to use the same trick? My sense is there isn't a separate indicator for professionals. The reason I ask is on a separate Facebook Celebrity forum I was having this discussion about bed placement and someone said just check at the time you're booking your cruise with whomever you book your cruise with and they will know. I chimed in that's not necessarily the case.

We frequent the Hard Rock Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ and the check-in agents have a cheat sheet for one of the hotel towers as to which rooms have a walk-in stall shower vs a bath tub/shower combo you have to step in. My sense is Celebrity doesn't provide that kind of information.

Sorry this doesn’t answer your question but I believe the indentations only indicate bed placement on E-Class. I’ve found Celebrity agents to be clueless on this issue.

While I agree that it will likely change, we have been on many cruises where chic night was on a port day. We have even had some cruises with both chic nights on port days.

Yes, that was my thought as well and I was trying to convey that in the discussion since someone had the opinion that it's not a big deal and everyone knows how to figure it out. I begged to differ.

I’m pretty sure that a chic night won’t happen with such a late departure from Aruba. With that being said, we go to Aruba every year for our land vacay and I HIGHLY recommend going to Barefoot for dinner, but you will need a reservation sooner rather than later. We just came back and went there twice. Luckily we had some flexibility because we had a hard time finding an opening for the second time we went. Enjoy!

With 2 sea days at each end of your cruise you won’t have to worry about Aruba being a chic night. Enjoy!

Yes, Aruba has many great restaurants.  We been going there each year (during "covid" 3 times a year), we go back for two weeks this August.  I am trying to see all my friends that live there (workers at one of the main hotels that we go to each year and we will hang out all day while at port there).  I love to see the night staff that gets in at 7 stay for awhile and speak to them then head back at 9 to the ship as the ship leaves at 11.  Hate to miss lobster night lol.

I won't mind dinner that night being fast, I hate to miss lobster night lol.

I agree with @RichYak.  You will have one Chiq Night on Day 2 (sea day).  I will almost guarantee that.  No way that they give you your other Chiq Night 2 nights later on an 8 night cruise.  I'd wait until you get much closer to the cruise to allow the App to update itself.

There's nothing in the booking that would indicate where the bed is. All of Celebrity's own material has the asterisk to indicate stateroom configuration may differ from what is shown in photos.

I agree, a clearer picture would be nice…I prefer bed by the balcony area..others like it by the bathroom, it seems pretty easy to make this info available..
