That's the reason why we choose the Pearl for our TA next April...even though the Prima was leaving at almost the same time with a nearly identical itinerary. Well, that...plus the fact that we were less than thrilled with the Prima when we cruised on her a year ago.

But if the prices were the same, which they will never be, I would choose the Prima, with better cabins, dining venues, and more entertainment options.

It's 15:30 or 3:30 PM - housekeeping is just about done. Maybe some loose ends and laundry run, someone to slip those Freestyle Daily for the next day - they are done for the day ?  Woohoo - that's pretty efficient for doing 22 rooms in 7 to 8 hours; and, they get the next 15 to 18 hours off to do whatever below deck ??  Am I missing something here ?

Code Alpha just called over PA, Deck 17, Zone 2 - Guest Landing ?? 

 

This is not a drill. 

 

Nearest land / port is St. John, Canada about 300 miles to our west as we continue on a 35 degree or NE heading at 16 kts.

 

Pearl is showing an ETA of 9 AM iceland arrival tomorrow, 2nd of May ... several hours ahead of schedule.

Our room is done minus the daily which we expect this evening. 
Housekeeping has been stellar.
Cabin is immaculate. Hallways, elevators etc all nice.

 

I did notice an untidy women’s restroom and reported it so it could be addressed.

@Fogfog Fire Zone 2 is FWD, would be near the OL or Galaxy Pavilion, elevators & stairs area.

Let's hope & pray it's not a trauma or anything serious, life-threatening, etc that require a medevac ... still within coverage range by a typical USCG Sikorsky MH-60T Jayhawk for SAR, with a 800 miles range & aerial refueling, I believe.

I wonder because you see these plugs on ships, yet rarely in hotel bathrooms. And not in homes.

Nope! I've never even seen a razor with the style of plug installed on cruise ships. It's always been a typical 110v plug for my razors and now that I'm lazy, for whatever stylist trims up my beard.

That outlet has been there since the beginning. I was on the original TA from Southampton and was told they are to make life easier for CPap users.  Viva has them also.

@Fogfog I own a battery powered shaver, no cords. When traveling, disposal ones work for me - done & lighter on the return trip.  That outlet is okay for smartphone & iPad/phone charger with low amp requirements. Ships like the Viva & Prima have sufficient outlet to not be bothered with using it as an extra.

That was my experience, too.  Don't rush to the restaurant the minute they open, and given that, getting seated was pretty quick, simple and painless.

As of today, Southampton, UK to Boston, MA--Sea Days all the way.  Like the Getaway in 2014-Southampton, UK to New York City.  Only difference, The Getaway left Southampton in mid January arriving in NYC to act as a hotel for the Super Bowl.

In this case, the Pearl and the Prima have the identical itinerary...with one exception. Prima goes to Liverpool. Pearl goes to Dublin. Since we've been to Liverpool and have done all of the Beatles stuff (we've never been to Dublin), that tipped the scale in favor of the Pearl.

 

Plus we've been on the Prima and weren't exactly in love with it, while we were recently on the Jade (Pearl's sister ship) and loved it. Pearl it is...

Walk up to The Commodore Room at 6:30 PM, not a big crowd around the Belvedere Bar waiting or standing around, good sign. 

 

Hostess said it's full but wait should be less than 30 minutes. Show my card and gave her both cabin #, gave me a pager & said a short wait 🤫.  Barely sat down around the corner and got buzzed.

 

 

Seated by one of the big round window in the back - magics - plenty of help out front standing around, feel very different than the Hudson. 

 

Making a difference, maybe - 2 sold out shows tonight ( Donna Live #2 and #3 ) several hundreds in lines for the theater.

My spies have reported that change is in the air with the Aqua, she is already out of the dry dock, and by some of the comments that have been floating around there is a good chance of several sailings before the March TA, of course, there is always those pesky supply chain issues that could slow things down. Reported sightings of sections of #4 being moved into place.

By tomorrow morning, we'll know whether the Pearl is early for arrival after 8 or 9 AM instead of scheduled 2 PM 

 

Weather ahead for the ports, warmer than expected, odds of being on the wet side.
