all that to say I still maintain that despite multiple threads that may occur, it’s impossible to see them all unless one monitors these boards 24/7. I made a post the other day and was told it was old news. But if wasn’t to me and possibly wasn’t to others either. Not trying to be argumentative, I just think there’s enough room on these boards to unwittingly repeat a topic and still attract new eyes.

It’s impossible to See all the threads, but that’s what the “search” feature is for.

Have you ever used the search feature?  I’ve tried in earnest several times. The problem with the search function, as mentioned in many threads…lol…is that it pulls up every post with one’s key words no matter how old  or relevant to the post may be to the inquirer of info. My go-to for searching CC is to post my question in google instead. It’s much easier to weed out the mess and hone in on a desired answer.

im not sure I would think to google my intended post ahead of starting a new thread on CC just to see if something has already been posted…but perhaps I will start.

I had to stumble on it somehow instead.

Better question, where were you? 😉You should have joined CC a year ago. 😁

I suggest that you just do you and the way searching for information works best for YOU and not others who may seem to know everything, or seem to pretend that they do.

Agree. It's the CC Mod Squads job to monitor these boards. If a thread is redundant most of the time they will combine the threads. The CC search function is hit and miss. I have better luck with Google.

@kwokpot, just a data point. When the casino switched over from offers for comped cruises to ‘earn a comped cruise in the future if you play a lot this cruise and earn an actual certificate’, I have been able to get the shareholder benefit on all of the new-style comped cruises.

I think I (or my wife) have been long time CC members, but I'm definitely in the "lurk" and not post category.  But also, in the non-active category when between cruises. I also tend to browse more when it is a cruise with a "trickier" itinerary and ports we are unfamiliar with.  We have two cruises scheduled this year - a Norway Fjords out of Rotterdam, and an Asian Vietnam & Thailand one - and both are relatively unexplored parts of the map for us. So, I'm here more now just checking folks threads for ideas, but then also getting sucked into the "general" cruise threads that are also both entertaining and informative (and probably a bit of envy tossed in).

And, regarding the OP and the redundancy, yeah, that's something that happened because I'm not normally doing a search before each original or reply posting.  Maybe that's the way we all should act, but I sort of think - looking through just the first 5 pages here - that topics do resurface over and over again.

I do hope mods can and will sort things in the manner they see fit.  It's a bear to keep tabs on many posters making many posts daily.

Welcome to CC. 🍻

The CC search option is only an option to use. Nothing wrong with starting your own thread even on a subject that has been addressed many times. Especially if you can't find a related subject. If that was the case, for example there would only one extremely long dress code thread. I've been a CC member since 2001.😉

Just out of curiosity, if both my husband and myself, are listed as shareholders, can we each apply for a credit, or is it 1 per household?

In the link posted

4. I am sailing with my family and some friends. Can they redeem the benefit too?

The benefit is only available for the stateroom in which the shareholder (with a minimum of 100 shares) is sailing. Onboard credit is applied on a per stateroom basis, double occupancy. Only one shareholder credit per stateroom on any one sailing. If shares are held jointly, 100 shares are required for each onboard credit request on any one sailing.

I always try and write a lot of information down in my C C notebook. After all these years, it has quite a few dividers.  Even with all of this, I tend to forget a few things, not to mention go back and revisit, along with updating some information.  I am very thankful for all those people who have taught me so much!

When I bought my RCCL shares, 100 were for me and 100 for my DH, but in my account; I did sell half of them due to my nature of profit-taking.  aAl of us have our own ways of using CC, not to mention have all been newbies.

~Many Thanks!

Usually, if the topic has been discussed recently, one of the first dozen or so posts in the new thread will give a link to the existing discussion.

Having CC search sort by date would be nice.

...that I stumbled upon this year is the "Shareholder Benefit" program through Royal Caribbean.

At the start of the COVID pandemic, stock in cruise lines plummeted, and I saw an opportunity to invest a small amount in something I knew would recover. In any case, if you own 100 shares of RCL, anytime you sail on their ships, you get additional onboard credits.  For me, that's 2 x $100 for the sailings I take this year. Sadly, I was unaware of the credit LAST year and didn't get it for the two sailings we did in 2023.

1. Who is eligible for this benefit?

·      This exclusive benefit offer is reserved solely for shareholders owning a minimum of 100 shares of Royal Caribbean Group (NYSE: RCL) at time of sailing.

2. What is the benefit?

·      $1,000 Onboard Credit per Stateroom on a World Cruise

·      $250 Onboard Credit per Stateroom on Sailings of 14 or more nights.

·      $100 Onboard Credit per Stateroom on Sailings of 6-13 nights.

·      $50 Onboard Credit per Stateroom on Sailings of 5 nights or less.

·      Applicable on any eligible Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises or Silversea Cruises sailing.

·      Excludes any charter or Galapagos sailings.

A great perk when shares were $20 each and dividend was 4 times a year.

Now with shares close to $140 each and no dividend it's a very expensive way to get a few extra $ of OBC.

I've sometimes seen that in threads. How others elect to find answers is up to them. I have and will suggest when someone asks about a port on a Cruise line forum that they should use the Ports Of Call forum.

Now we are getting off topic which adds to a thread becoming hard to find an answer. Tapping out.

I’m not a shareholder so maybe they’ve gone over my head. I did buy in to Carnival during the Covid halt but we sold it for a small return once it climbed back up. Our carnival days are long gone so the share holder benefits aren’t appealing. Not sure the RCL benefit is enough to entice me to buy in.

100 shares of Carnival stock ownership also applies to Princess and Holland America which are also Carnival properties

At pandemic lows we bought 100 shares of RCCL, CCL and NCL.

Since then the RCCL stock price has gone through the roof.  We have also had a nice "dividend" of at least $1000 of OBC.

We haven't cruised the CCL or the NCL ships but will be in the future.

Would you spend close to $14000 now to get the same OBC?

Even better when it was less than $6 a share in 2009.

Exactly.....

During Covid we purchased CCL and NCL (both also have shareholder discounts). We left RCL out as it was more than we were willing to "invest" for OBC perk.

CCL is nice - as it covers quite a few cruise lines.
