MBP&O2/O Posted June 18 #1 Share Posted June 18 Is it me? For the last few day I keep getting screen covering and intrusive pop ups from Kenwood Travel .... whoever they may be. They usual occur on the first two or three pages I open. I don't know if this is genuine or a hack, but if the former then thereis a loss of credibility in my eyes, and if the latter I view them as spam. Rare fudge Posted June 18 #2 Share Posted June 18 In the last couple of days every time I click on cruise critic an annoying advert springs across asking me do I want to enter a draw from a travel agent, is anyone else getting this please? I cannot block it it seems?
57 varieties Posted June 18 #3 Share Posted June 18 I am getting it too.
Rare drron29 Posted June 18 #4 Share Posted June 18 I am just getting a cruise RCL line ad. Something is wrong with their picking of subjects for their add.
lincslady Posted June 18 #5 Share Posted June 18 Had one here for the past couple of days, with complaints from UK cruisers, and it seems to been taken off somehow in the past hour or so.

lincslady Posted June 18 #7 Share Posted June 18 Yes, it is back again. Since CC do not allow us to mention agents, why are we being subjected to this annoying rubbish?
excitedofharpenden Posted June 18 #8 Share Posted June 18 You are not alone. It's infuriating. I have Adbloc on my iPhone, but it doesn't catch it. Would be grateful for admin input. Phil
Rare fudge Posted June 18 #9 Share Posted June 18 Surely CC are allowing it? I am not opening CC until it goes away, it is very annoying indeed.
Rare uktog Posted June 18 #10 Share Posted June 18 Not unique to this forum but there is a pop up from a UK agency coming up every time I open a new forum or thread on cruise critic. Not even my usual blocker seems able to squish it. Host Jazzbeau is this genuine or a hack because it’s an absolute turn off!
MBP&O2/O Posted June 18 Author #11 Share Posted June 18 I thought it was me. I get it two or three times per session, The design of the graphics is identical in many ways to the pics / ads on CC. There is another thread on the 'help with forums' page as well. People are NOT impressed with what can best be described as spam.
Rosie1066 Posted June 18 #12 Share Posted June 18 Pleased I'm not the only one being driven mad by this pop up which nothing seems to block.
Rosie1066 Posted June 18 #13 Share Posted June 18 I should probably have said....I too am in the UK. I thought it was on my profile but see it isn't. And it's always useful to see where people are located. I assume this is just a problem for the UK based??
Rare tonyl1956 Posted June 18 #14 Share Posted June 18 Me too. Never heard of the company involved.
Rare DavyWavey70 Posted June 18 #15 Share Posted June 18 I Just asked elsewhere about this. It's really annoying. CruiseCritic have never been brazen about the fact that the whole reason that these boards exist is because the site is supported and funded by a company that ultimately wants to sell you a cruise but spamming us repeatedly changes things considerably. Please make it stop.
excitedofharpenden Posted June 18 #16 Share Posted June 18 My other half who is tech savvy says it's within the Cruise Critic forum. That's why Adblocking it doesn't work. They better get rid of it. Hopefully an error. Phil
Riocca Posted June 18 #17 Share Posted June 18 Glad it’s not just me being driven mad by this pop-up it’s not just on entering the forum but every time I change a page.
excitedofharpenden Posted June 18 #18 Share Posted June 18 And seeing as we aren't allowed to mention travel agents here it's very odd. Phil 2
Rare 1025cruise Posted June 18 #19 Share Posted June 18 It's most likely an ad being provided by the third party provider Cruise Critic contracts with.
Grandma Cruising Posted June 18 #20 Share Posted June 18 (edited) I’m getting it too, as of today. Very annoying Edited June 18 by Grandma Cruising

Rare DavyWavey70 Posted June 18 #22 Share Posted June 18 Maybe an angry email to the advertiser letting them know how their entirely untargeted spam is infuriating and enough to put us off ever using their agency might help?
Rare broberts Posted June 18 #23 Share Posted June 18 Has anyone tried instructing the browser to not allow popups? In Android Chrome: Settings, Site Settings, Pop-ups and redirects.

Well if anyone is looking at this from Cruise Critic please get rid ASAP. What else is this "intruder mining?? It is beyond a joke and is doing your site no favours. At least on other social sites where I share cruise information my viewing is not intruded on like this. Obviously someone is looking at these posts as mine was moved from one of the forums to this general site. But will anything be done about it??????????
