57 Chevy cocktail:

Indulge in a luxurious and flavorful ride with the enticing "57 Chevy" cocktail, a modern twist on a classic favorite. This delightful libation combines the smoothness of Southern Comfort Whiskey, the purity of vodka, the sophistication of Grand Marnier, the sweetness of amaretto, and the tanginess of orange and pineapple juices. The 57 Chevy cocktail is a harmonious fusion of premium ingredients that deliver an unforgettable taste experience. Inspired by the iconic car and blended with contemporary flair, this drink is a perfect companion for those seeking a sophisticated and adventurous sip.

Ingredients:

1 oz. southern comfort
1 oz. vodka
1/2 oz. amaretto
2 oz. orange juice
2 oz. Pineapple juice
1/2 oz. grenadine
1/2 oz. grand mariner

Directions:

in a cocktail shaker with ice cubes add the Southern Comfort Whiskey, vodka, Grand Marnier, amaretto, orange juice, pineapple juice, and grenadine syrup.
Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds to blend all the ingredients and chill the cocktail.
Strain the mixture from the shaker into the tall glass with fresh ice.
Garnish the cocktail with an orange slice or a cherry for a touch of elegance and color(optional).

Good morning friends!  It’s still dark out but should be partly cloudy and 73 outside.  Our day will be mixed with both sun and clouds with the possibility of some showers and a high of 89.

Thanks Rich @richwmn for the Fleet Report and Daily as well as the ship location maps.  Of the three days to recognize I’ll skip the hair gloss, would love a little watermelon and honor our Coast Guard.  Always a good quote (or two) by Mark Twain.  The slow cooker baby back ribs sound good.  I love the name of the cocktail so let’s have a look at it before making any decisions.  I’m sure the merlot will be popular here but I’ll pass on a red wine.  Christopher Columbus had no clue in 1492 how big his discovery would be.  I know where Santa Claus, Indiana is and didn’t know they had a theme park there.  A big thanks to Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for their reports to us today.

Prayers for our dear friends Chuck @catmando and Annie @marshhawk.  We’re grateful he is home and they have come to some conclusions as to how much medication he should be on.  Take care of that hip Annie and get medical help if it’s not better.  More prayers for our other Care list individuals including Tana and Terry @smitty34877, Jacqui @kazu, Joy’s @Seasick Sailor DS Bonnie and Nancy’s @ottahand7 DB. The list is even longer with Ann's @Vict0riann DH Pat, Terri @Cruzin Terri, Debbie @dish, Roy @rafinmd, Elizabeth @Haljo1935, Carol @mamaofami, Vanessa @JazzyV and probably a few more I've missed.  Extra prayers for my DB and twin sister.  Continued prayers for the people of Israel and Ukraine, the hostages remaining, and our soldiers and sailors in the war zones.  Cheers to all celebrating special occasions and enjoying their cruises!  Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for continuing to update the lists each day.  It’s a big job!

Today Rich @richwmn has shown us another new port, Harstad, Norway.  No links to post but I hope someone here has spent a little time there.  I looked up the location because it didn’t sound familiar and see the closest I’ve come to Harstad is Narvik in 2016 on Prinsendam.  I wonder if that port will ever show up?  I’m not sure HAL can make it to some of these smaller ports anymore without our beloved Prinsendam.  Thanks in advance to anyone posting photos today of Harstad.

I hope all here have a wonderful Saturday.  Try to stay safe and keep well.

Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte.

Interesting days and as are the quotes from Mark Twain.

I’m in on the meal, we love barbecue ribs.

I have no idea what a 1957 Chevy drink is but I do know the 1957 Chevy is one of the great classic cars of all time and a favorite of mine

Tropical depression 97 right now around Cuba and should make a turn and head up the Florida gulf coast and will be upgraded to Tropical Storm Debby with around 40 MPH winds but with a lot of rain, a chance of CAT 1 hurricane maybe on Monday. We are going to head over around noon today to Port Canaveral for our cruise tomorrow on the MSC Seashore and should be out of the path of the storm.

Have a great day and stay well.

Good morning.  Thanks for the Report.  Love the maps.

Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful thread, such a caring community.

It's another hot, humid day here.

Yes to watermelon, a big thanks to the Coast Guard, not sure about hair gloss.

Love the quote, it's so true, especially now because of the internet.

The meal, drink and wine all sound good to me.

I've been to Norway, but not today's port.

Prayers for so many.  I hope there are lots of reasons to celebrate, no matter how small.

Have a wonderful day.  Stay cool.

Thanks for our Saturday Daily, Rich and thanks to the F ^ B team.

It’s another very hot humid day here so a great day to enjoy watermelon.  Coast Guard is worthy of our appreciation and respect.  Mark Twain nailed it with those quotes today.  Amazing that lies people believe these days.

Many years ago, we lost a huge tree that provided a view screen from our deck with the hill.  DD DH was very upset and the arborist advised if we planted the maples in the spots we were contemplating there would be a day the first  maple would meet the other tree.  Well, it has happened too late for DD DH to see but at least for me before i go.

Everything aimed for was accomplished yesterday.  A lot to do, but I think I need to nail down exactly what furniture is going  so I can get some movers’ estimates next week.  then maybe some packing and cleaning?  Not sure.  The legs will dictate part of it and I do have some cruise stuff to update.  Auctioneer comes tonight to pick up the antiques so i better do a double check and make sure there’s nothing in therm left.  LOL.  So many things you have to bid farewell to when you downsize 😞

Special prayers for Chuck & Annie @marshhawk Prayers for those on the Care list, those suffering losses, grief, pain, health problems, worries 7 those that need them 🙏  Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.

Good morning, everyone!

It was a short night last night.  I stayed up a while because I wasn't tired and then woke up this morning way too early and couldn't get back to sleep.  I came downstairs and when I poured my coffee I heard funny noises coming from the drawer under the oven.  I opened it up and there was a mouse!  It was eating the bait we put out for him, so he won't last too much longer.  We need to figure out where they are getting in.  This is the second one we've found.

I hope Annie and Chuck had a good night and that Chuck is better this morning along with Annie's hip.  I also hope @mamaofami is getting stronger after her bout with Covid.  I'm happy the eye doctor was pleased with @RMLincoln Maureen's DH's eye pressures.  @JazzyV Vanessa, I hope you can lick the vertigo issue.  That can be so debilitating.  @Vict0riann I hope Pat can get some relief for his heart issue and that all is progressing well for you in your treatment.  @Seasick Sailor I am keeping your DS in my thoughts and prayers.  @smitty34877 Terry, you and Tana are there as well.  I hope your aide gets well soon and can return.  @Cruzin Terri I hope all is going well with you.

The Fish Sandwich Festival was a nice diversion yesterday.  It was held in a park by Lake Huron, so the lake breezes helped to cool  us down.  Sue says the sandwiches weren't as good as the last time she was there.  It was a bit of a hike for a fish sandwich.  But, I'm glad we did it.

We do like barbecued ribs in this house.  We get them at the butcher shop and they are pretty tasty.  I haven't tried them in the slow cooker, but I do like to cook my ribs long and slow.  This way won't heat up the house with the oven. Slow Cooker Baby Back Ribs

babybackribs1.thumb.jpg.687514bc6db904fab604cf1347f6671e.jpg

This one has a slightly different rub for the ribs.  The directions in this recipe say not to add the barbecue sauce until you are broiling the ribs.  I like to finish mine off on the grill.  BBQ Baby Back Ribs

babybackribs2.thumb.jpg.d6c86467b1e50d9a16c31dcde828aa10.jpg

Another different rub for the ribs in this recipe and it has you dump the BBQ sauce in the crockpot and cook it all together for a good long time.  Crock Pot Ribs

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Good Morning, thanks for today’s daily fleet report.  It’s another hot and very humid day.  I’m planning on a trip to Aldi this morning and then do some inside chores.  I wouldn’t last long working outside today.  Today’s meal suggestion sounds good, no decision on what’s for dinner tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day today.

Three years ago we visited Glacier Bay.

Good morning folks. We had a wonderful first day visit with family. Just enjoyed being together. Played some games, reminisced and had a great dinner. We struggled but made it to ten PM before heading to bed. It had been a long day with that 4 AM wake up.

More of the same today but we will be going out to dinner at a local Italian restaurant. We are actually outside of Pittsburgh called Venetia. Headed for coffee and I was told freshly baked blueberry muffins.
Have a great day. Bruce

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the Daily @richwmn.  I'll pass on the watermelon,  but will definitely celebrate our Coast Guard.  I use a spray on gloss Bombshell Blowout but my hair turns frizzy so fast I doubt it is visible.  Two great quotes by Mark Twain.    I look forward to photos of today's port.  I prefer my ribs smoked or oven roasted so will pass on the slow cooker.  Pass on the fancy cocktail but would enjoy Josh Merlot with my smoked ribs.

BON VOYAGE @ski ww! 🍾🛳️

Thanks for the cares and celebrations reports @JazzyV!  Prayers for Annie and Chuck.  Annie I hope your hip is much better today and I was glad to read that they are working on balancing Chuck's meds properly.  That is a problem when a patient sees many specialists with little coordination.  Please take care of the caregiver.

Prayers for Tana and Terry, I hope your aide is back soon.  Please try not to overdo things.  Prayers for Terri, Bonnie, Pat and @mamaofami.  Jacqui it sounds like you are making great progress on your progress on your home sale and move.  Prayers for all I have missed who are ailing or grieving.  Prayers for all in war zones through no fault of their own, Ukraine, the remaining hostages and the Innocents in Gaza.

We had a good day in town, today we drove to Marquette. I doubt we will go back though. They have turned the highway through town into a long series of round abouts, they are too small and people drive through them like it is a sport.  Nothing like the large, well-planned like the ones in the Villages.  One more hot day and then we return to lower humidity and temps in the 70s.  Have a lovely Saturday.  Nancy

Thank you for today’s FR & D, Rich! Another glorious morning. Once again the strong Easterly winds kept the storms to my West. Wonder what they will do with the tropical disturbance? Right now we might get 3 - 4 inches of rain. We can use the rain, but I prefer not to get it all at once. And Bindi HATES getting wet. Sigh.

Vanessa, thank you for keeping up with all of us. Hope your current path helps with the Vertigo.

Gym, Bindi walks, chores, and ending the day at my friend’s for supper. A great ending to the day.

Prayers for all who need our support. Tana, praying that you have a good day & Terry please take care of yourself.

Chuck, praying that you can stabilize your condition. Let Annie manage your meds, please. Annie, praying that you find some time for you.

Prayers for all our caregivers. You know you can only keep up the pace for awhile. Please take care of yourselves.

Cheers to all who are celebrating!

May we each find a reason to smile today!

************

Josh Cellars Merlot

You can find this California Merlot almost anywhere. And it is priced to try. If you don’t like it - use it for cooking. Online prices start at $9.99.

Winemaker notes

Soft and inviting, our Merlot is perfectly balanced with rich, fruity flavors and indulgent chocolate notes, rounded with fragrant notes of sweet flowers and spices.

On the nose, expect hints of violets, sweet plums, and vanilla beans. In the glass, you’ll experience a velvety and soft texture, with flavors of plums, blackberries, and cherries amplified with a long, cocoa powder finish.

Pairs well with stuffed mushrooms, roasted chicken, or tomato-based sauces.

Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie for the FR&D    I’ll pass on the hair gloss but celebrate the other 2 days..    Special prayers for Carol  Terri, Katherine’s friend, Sandi’s brother, Scottie,  Chuck, Annie and Tana with  Annie and Chuck at the top of the list. That hip sounds really scary but I hope the correct meds may help Chuck both mentally and physically.

Two great quotes by Twain.

I have not been to Harstad..

Two interesting days in history.  I’ll bet theme parks have changed a lot since 1946.

The meal sounds nice...  My alternative is Chilled Lychees with Kiwi Wedges, Chilled Raspberry Soup, and Perfectly Grilled Breast of Chicken  as served on MS Prinsendam August 3 2011..

A little less hot today.  Walking this morning and fire house this afternoon.

Good morning all. Thanks for all the information. It is already 84 at seven, but there is no wind and the river is calm. I am thinking of going for a kayak since we could see some bad weather with Debbie swirling around in the gulf. Please enjoy the weekend but be safe.

Happy Saturday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports.

We had thunderstorms yesterday. Now it is very humid. High of 89 today with perhaps more rain. My vegetables are loving it. Kept losing power yesterday which meant my Internet was going in and out which is rather frustrating when your work involves using the Internet. Oh well.

Doing some chores around the house today. 67 days until my cruise. United sent my e-tickets. All set, just have to pack.

Bon Voyage to @ski ww!

Good warm and sunny and humid morning. It’s not going to be as hot today but the humidity is still very high.
Tomorrow is actually the birthday of the Coast Guard . I wish I could be in Cape May to celebrate with them. They hold a Sunset parade at the training center. It’s open to the public and is an important part of the community relations program.
Blessings and prayers to all on our journey.

Good morning. The weather person informed us that the humidity was “obnoxious” and I had to agree. We had a house shaking thunder storm last night with a lot of rain and I guess there is more for today. At least the power held!

I will salute the Coast Guard, would love some watermelon and like glossy hair. Mark Twain certainly had quotes that stood up to time. I have not been to the port and would like ribs if someone else made them.

@marshhawk, I am hoping that Chuck is ok to be at home. The hospital sure sounds as if they did little to support the two of you. I think you need someone to help advocate. I am very worried about both of you. Don’t ignore the hip, please. Sorry if I am being intrusive but you should not have so much to cope with alone.
Today I have the other three family members home to help. It has been a long week.
@MISTER 67, safe travels today and Bon Voyage tomorrow!

@ski ww, Bon Voyage!
