  1. His own personal medallion told him it would be a big hit loved by all Princess cruisers past and future.
  2. I would think that needing a passport and/or visa for a cruise with certain ports should be basic knowledge for a competent TA.
  3. First find a TA. I am sure the TA will know the procedure. I do think, however, there is a time limit (though I am not sure how long, but I am sure someone else knows) to get this done.
  4. Ah, a view of the ocean from the dining room. We have to make sure we get that when we celebrate our wedding anniversary next August on the Prima. We try on land on our anniversary (usually successfully) to dine out by water generally sitting on a deck. We have had anniversaries before on cruise ships so that counts as being on water, but a table with a view of the ocean would be special.
  5. I hear what you are saying, but doesn't a TA have some responsibility to provide basic information that if not followed would not let someone board the ship? I would think it would not be common knowledge as to what countries Canada has listed as requiring visas. In the post that I was quoting from the TA was trying to argue that you could get around that. He or she should know better.
  6. Thanks. I just wonder about the passengers who get their TA to argue with you and your fellow agents and/or supervisors. It would seem to me that they have incompetent TAs who did not give them the information that they needed to board the cruise. I wonder if they could have a legitimate case to sue the TA.
  7. Yes, there is a reason that the assistant cruise directors on Carnival are called "the Fund Squad.
  8. Not me! As a previous poster said, the commercials for it were enough to let you know it was not worth watching.
  9. On the one hand, you make the point that there are extra costs to the cruise line for those extra sea days, but isn't there also enhanced revenue? For instance, the casino is open during those sea days. And the shops are also open. And I would imagine that the spa gets more bookings.
  10. @JIMESOPUS, thankyou for all your informative posts.
  11. How do potential passengers react when you inform them that they cannot board because of the visa issue you mentioned. I am sure some of them say, but I (we) just won't get off the ship in Canada. Do they yell and scream at you? Does it ever get to the point where you feel you have to call security?
  12. In other words, a call to muster is not yet a time for passengers to panic; the chance of having to abandon ship is still quite low.
  13. I'm sure that I am not the only one looking forward to that summation. I hope there is more good than bad and not much ugly at all.
  14. I hope you all realize that a call to the muster stations does not mean you will definitely end up in the lifeboats. That is a last resort.
  15. A comment of Halifax. When we were there on a cruise, we took an excursion to Peggy's Cove in the morning. We were not really impressed. In the afternoon, we explored the city. We went first to the Canadian Immigration Museum intending to spend a little time there and then move on. We found it so interesting that we basically spent all our time in the city there.
  16. Yes, it has been that way for years. In 2010 we were looking for a cruise in Alaska. We found 3 on our TA's website that fit our criteria for date and itinerary. The Princess one had the highest price listed online. When I called our TA, he gave us quotes on all 3, and the Princess one ended up the least expensive and the one we took.
  17. Call TD Ameritrade. Have them fax the information to Carnival. Tell them to also black out your account number and also put on the cover page the necessary information (cruise ship and date and your booking number and of course your names.) Or if they can't do the extra things, have them fax it to your TA if you have one, and he or she could do it with the extra information needed. If they won't do that, you could ask to be sent a paper copy. I'm sure that would be no problem for them.
  18. And you think somehow that that is good news for Carnival?
  19. And it's hard to be down on a day that the stock market went up so much!
  20. Would you say that that is the same for all pier staff, possibly part of their training? I know different airports can be very different. One year I was in a walking boot since several weeks before our land trip I had a broken ankle. At the Newark airport when I mentioned that my walking boot had a LOT of metal, they almost fought over who was just going to walk me through and no need to take it off. In the airport in Amsterdam, without a smile what was said when I said the same thing was "Can you take it off?".
  21. And you no longer need to make sure you have the proper bills to stuff the envelopes with.
  22. Tipping for exemplary service may very well have been the way it started out, but presently it is expected unless the service is truly awful. And one can still tip extra in appreciation of exemplary service.
