The lack of specific details in that footnote is what leads to this discussion on a regular basis. Some feel they have a new set of vouchers at 5am on disembarkation day and others say that is not true. That footnote does not support either side of the argument.

Cafe Promenade on the Odyssey
reallyitsmema replied to Joe33472's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Cafe Promenade on Quantum class ships has never had specialty coffee. We have sailed Anthem and Quantum and the specialty coffee is available in La Patisserie which is located across the Royal Esplanade from Cafe Promenade. Odyssey is a little different since it is Quantum Ultra class. Deck plans show Starbucks where La Patisserie is located on the other Quantum class ships. We have yet to sail Odyssey and would like to know from someone who has actually sailed Odyssey whether specialty coffee from that location is covered by the refreshment package and deluxe beverage package. -
Preliminary Alaska Cruise Questions - RCL
reallyitsmema replied to cusematt4's topic in Royal Caribbean International
It is an old maritime law that says you can't have a cruise from one US port to a different US port without it stopping in a foreign port. Ovation and Quantum sail from Hawaii at the beginning of the Alaska season so they have to go to Vancouver for their foreign port. Once they start the Alaska season sailing roundtrip from Seattle, they have Victoria as a port of call. At the end of the Alaska season, the final Alaska sailing ends in Vancouver, instead of Seattle and then they sail Vancouver to Hawaii. -
Preliminary Alaska Cruise Questions - RCL

There are a few one way sailings for Quantum and Ovation between Seattle and Vancouver at the beginning and end of the Alaska season but that is to satisfy the PVSA. The typical Alaska season sailings are round trip Seattle. -

Preliminary Alaska Cruise Questions - RCL

There are no Oasis class ships sailing to Alaska. Quantum and Ovation are Quantum class ships which are built for a colder itinerary. -
First cruise to Alaska questions.

Why can't you sit on your balcony for long? We used ours for hours. -
We have found that the cleaning people are wonderful about making sure you have anything you need. We just ask when we see them in the hallway instead of going to the front desk. We were at a family wedding recently and most stayed either two or three nights. They swapped out towels for us and gave me more coffee and cups for my Mom who uses the coffee pot in a hotel room. Yuck!

Ovation and Quantum have two indoor pools. There is a family pool with a retractable roof and also a pool in the Solarium. -

First cruise to Alaska questions.
reallyitsmema replied to dvpaintboy's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We have sailed Alaska twice in May and absolutely used our balcony. We went in 2018 and 2022. Last year it was 80 when we were in Skagway and 70 when we were in Juneau. We also had warm days on our 2018 cruise. I would suggest bringing layers and pack at least one pair of shorts. We did not bring winter coats and never regretted not having them. Coldest days were when we went to the glacier and even then we wore a long sleeve shirt, polar fleece 3/4 zip and a waterproof shell over it. -
4th of July Independence Chaos

Ships sail over capacity all the time, it is not rare at all. You only really hear about it when they are close to their maximum guest total allowed. -
Questions about pre-cruise hotels in Seattle
reallyitsmema replied to thethreeofus's topic in West Coast Departures
We have stayed at the Marriott Seattle Waterfront a few times. We like the location as it looks out over the Sound and we can walk to many things downtown. It is right near Pier 66 which is used by NCL. You can sign up for a shuttle to the port for $10pp. -
Yes, the view is really nice from River House. The other restaurants I had said are in that block of buildings too and have great views too. We were watching a couple of harbor seals playing when we were there last. Not sure we will be able to go to the Toothy Moose when we are in Halifax in a few months. We have been to Halifax a bunch of times, so likely will just get off the ship and decide what we do depending on the weather. We are going to Sydney also, which is a new port for us. We have rented a car and are going to do some of the Cabot Trail. We don't like the crowded bus excursions, so will just do our own thing.

@dpostman Update on Portsmouth information. Spoke to my son, he said they had dinner at The River House which was also lots of seafood but they did a decent burger lol They moved on to the Thirsty Moose Taphouse which has over 100 tap lines and entertainment some nights. Lots of local brews. 603 brewery is a favorite of this household.

Here is the cruise schedule for Port Canaveral. Looks like you are coming in on a port of call on Oasis and you are at terminal 6 which is NOT walkable to Grills. You are on the other side of the channel. https://www.portcanaveral.com/getattachment/Cruise/Cruise-Lines-Schedules/CPA-Website-Schedule-Apr-Sep-2023.pdf.aspx?lang=en-US

Crown & Anchor discount
reallyitsmema replied to Moon Orchid's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Read the terms of the sale and make sure it is combinable with the C&A discount. If it is, call and have them price the cruise for you. A cruise I booked recently kept adding an instant savings of $100 when my C&A discount is higher than that. I just called and had C&A book it for me and I got the better discount applied.
