    Good afternoon everyone.  I just received the sad news that my colleague and friend Lauren has passed away from her battle with cancer.  Thank-you for your thoughts and prayers over the past month, you’re all so kind.  She can be removed from the prayer list as she’s in a much better place now.

    Condolences on the passing of your colleague and friend Lauren to you, and her family and friends.

    @JazzyV Vanessa I hope you don't take this the wrong way but I don't think an air mattress will help you. It is very hard to maneuver after back surgery so the chair is probably the best thing to sleep or if you can get a hospital bed in your downstairs that may work too. I did need a higher toilet -we ended up putting one in but if you don't have one they do make a seat with handles. I think if your doctor writes an RX Medicare will pay for these things.

    I love seeing all of the spring flowers.

    Thank you to all who post here.

    Thanks for the input. I don't really think the air mattress will help, but BFF wanted to be doing something (just his presence is really enough). I'm going to try the recliner first; right now it just exacerbates the leg discomfort, as does lying in bed. I'm practicing going up the stairs using a cane, rather than on all fours as I've been doing. In my downstairs bathroom I had a higher toilet put in earlier this year. For upstairs I ordered a riser with handles.

  2. Good afternoon. Thanks for the FR/Daily @kazu @richwmn and maps @rafinmd.

    I haven't been to a McDonald's in years, but like their coffee. And Ronald McDonald House is a big asset to families. I used to know some ASL in the past. I'll salute One Boston Day. Typical quote by a comedian. I'll pass on the meal and maybe on the drink. Yes to the wine. I haven't been to Manzanillo. Very sad day in 1912 and a big accomplishment in 1947.

    Another lovely day here, now 73F and sunny. I'm inside however, as I can't do much outside other than sit. Another night of poor sleep. I'm doing some limited cleaning. BFF had brought over a large higher air mattress, so I have choices of it (in the DR, lol) or the recliner, if I feel tackling the steps is too much right after surgery. I need to coordinate when to do laundry, with the 3 days of Hibiclens showers before surgery.

    @StLouisCruisers Prayers that Linda's surgery went well and she is not in too much pain. I had a different type of shoulder surgery many years ago, and it was a long slog with PT, but great results. Lovely Manzanillo photos.

    @LambKnuckles I hope you get some answers from your doctor, so you can start feeling better.

    @aliaschief Such a unique experience you're having.

    @0106 I saw a wonderful story on the news about Spencer, the Boston marathon dog.

    @kochleffel We need to put you in bubble wrap! I hope the ankle isn't too painful.

    @Seasick Sailor I hope Ron's wife is feeling better soon.

    @AncientWanderer It sounds like you'll need the relaxation of the crossing after your hectic Japan schedule.

    @Cruzin Terri I'm sure the dementia practitioner will have a lot of helpful information and resources.

    @rafinmd You've got a busy schedule today. I hope the heart monitor results show nothing of concern.

    @smitty34877 Prayers for you, Tana, the teenager and all of the family.

    @RMLincoln Prayers for DSIL and all the family at this transition time.

    @quilty964 Hang in there with the starter; it took about 2 weeks for mine to become strong and rise well. A little rye flour added to all purpose flour, as part of the feeding, often helps (the rye flour has more nutrients for the organisms).

    Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

  4. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

    I hope we all can have a moment of laughter today. Dolphins are fun creatures. No ex-spouse here. Great quote. I like the meal, pass on the drink and yes to the wine. I haven't been to Hiroshima. One tragic and one good day in history.

    It continues to be very windy here, but it's 75F! There are probably lots of branches down in the yard. Severe storms are forecast for this evening. BFF came over yesterday and we got a good bit done. However, it wiped me out and I had a lot of pain in the evening. Subsequently, I slept very little, only about an hour. But I fell asleep while watching the news in bed this morning, and got another 2.5 hours, shocked to see it was 10:30 when I woke up! I'll putter around the house today, tidying up. And get the trash and recycling out for tomorrow.

    @LAFFNVEGAS Bon Voyage!

    @StLouisCruisers Great tree, as usual, by DD.

    @cruising sister I'm sure it was wonderful seeing the DGK's again. Congrats on booking the Antarctica cruise; I'd love to go again. Thanks for the update on Murphy; prayers for her continued improvement.

    @Denise T Just wow about that neighbor. It's sad that you don't feel safe and are considering moving because of him.

    @kochleffel Congrats! That's a wonderful commentary on your work.

    @Quartzsite Cruiser Great photos from Hiroshima.

    @marshhawk I'm glad the driveway got done. And yay on getting asked to work the small campaign; I hope you get it!

    @LambKnuckles I hope you feel better soon. I had a head cold and bronchitis last month, that lingered until I took an antibiotic.

    @aliaschief Your event looks amazing! Thanks for sharing.

    @bennybear Beautiful photos.

    Prayers for the Care List and I'll Celebrate with those who are Celebrating.

  6. Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

    Lunch for me is usually a piece of fruit or something light. I'd never heard of the Borinqueneers before today; they deserve a day. I haven't played Scrabble in ages, although I still have it in a cabinet with some other board games. Interesting quote, although I think most people have a few regrets. Maybe on the meal, pass on the drink and yes to the wine (if someone's buying it for me). I have been to Oranjestad. The "Messiah" is a favorite of mine.

    Finally the rain has stopped. However it is very windy and I hope trees don't fall on power lines. A lot of downtown is flooded, as it's at the confluence of 3 rivers, and they peaked above flood stage last night. Also lots live near creeks and have flooded yards and basements. Luckily I'm on higher ground. I slept a little better (5 hours total) in part due to Benadryl taken for my injection. BFF will be coming over later to help move some stuff back into the 3 rooms.

    @AncientWanderer Bon Voyage!

    @atexsix Bruno, my sincere condolences on the passing of your Dear Dad. You were so involved in his care for a long time, and I know it meant the world to him.

    @aliaschief Your upcoming tour to see the Taj Mahal sounds fabulous!

    @grapau27 Thanks for the explanations.

    @ORTravelGal Welcome to the Daily! All are welcome to post here, as long as their posts are friendly.

    @puppycanducruise Condolences on the loss of such a young friend.

    @smitty34877 I'm glad the nurse was able to get in to see Tana, and that she thought Tana looked a little better. Continued prayers.

    @kazu I'm happy to hear that the nurse was so thorough and has a plan to get you pain free. About the iPad,  I am able to cut and paste from it, but the formatting does not come over. So anything that is bolded does not paste as bolded. It worked before the iPadOS 17.4.1, so something changed with the update. For now I'll use the laptop to post the Cares List.

    @LambKnuckles I'm sorry to hear about your sister. Prayers for her.

    @marshhawk I hope the guy shows up and that your driveway gets fixed satisfactorily.

    @Quartzsite Cruiser Lovely photos.

    @RMLincoln Blessings to you as you help the family during this difficult time.

    @Vict0riann Thanks for checking in.

    Welcome home @ocean sounds, @SusieKIslandGirl and @Heartgrove's DW Sue and DSIL.

    Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those with something to Celebrate.

  8. Good evening. It continues to rain here, with more flood advisories.

    I didn't get much done, because I couldn't stand for long. I was trying to fill the little curio cabinet I have. I needed to clean it's mirror back and all the window parts, as well as the glass shelves. But I'd do a little, be in pain, sit for a while, then get up again and repeat. I was feeling defeated over not being able to do much.

    @luvteaching Condolences to you and the family on the passing of DSIL.

    @kazu Thanks for the information. I'll have check if there is a new update for my iPad (it's upstairs), but I think it's up to date. I'll try the trick of selecting the last word first tomorrow. I had been thinking of getting a laptop, and got one, and have been using that to post the Cares List. No issue using windows, it's just that Apple messed something up. I used the iPad all the time before.

    @marshhawk Wow on those flying performers.

    @LambKnuckles Welcome to the Fleet Report/Daily! We hope to see you posting often.

    @CrabbyPatti What an unwelcome adventure with the credit card. One year on a road trip my CC was compromised. Fortunately I had another one with me, as the promised expedited card never arrived.

    @YourWorldWithBill Lovely view from DD's condo. Enjoy your visit.

    Do you shoot in ProRAW  or just  regular photo mode at a high resolution?

  10. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @kazu @richwmn & maps @rafinmd.

    Big wind day is appropriate, as we're under a wind advisory right now. I'll celebrate human space flight, but not street children, as they sadden me.  Good quote. Yes to the meal, pass on the drink, and yes to the wine. I have not been to Cozumel. I saw a lot of commemorations to Gagarin when I visited the Star City Cosmonaut Training Center outside Moscow.

    Lots going on here due to again record rain levels and wind advisories. Many roads closed, some people who live near creeks evacuated, some power outages. And it's still raining. Not much new with me. I did get a bit more sleep, as I fell back asleep after being up a few hours with bad pain. So about 5.5 hours total. I'll try to put more stuff back in the emptied rooms, as pain allows. BFF may come over tomorrow to help me out.

    @aliaschief Great photos from places I'll likely never get to see. And the food looks good too.

    @StLouisCruisers Very nice photo of you two! I hope you get an answer to your cough issue.

    @kazu Good luck with the foot nurse specialist; I hope you can get some answers. I had mentioned that I lost all formatting on copying and pasting from the iPad after the last update. I had hoped another update would fix it, as having to do all the formatting by hand after pasting was no fun.

    @grapau27 Nice photos from Cozumel.

    @Seasick Sailor I'm sorry to hear that Ron has another diagnosis, but colitis can sometimes be caused by antibiotics. If that's the case it should be more easily treatable.

    @ottahand7 That looks like it was a fun excursion in Cozumel.

    @durangoscots I hope that sensation of the ship moving goes away. I usually had it 3-4 days after getting off a ship, until after my 2019 cruise when at 3 weeks I still had it. I was diagnosed by ENT with Mal de Debarquement syndrome, a rare vestibular disorder. It took a year to get rid of it. I took something to dampen vestibular response on my last cruise (first after the 2019 one) and was fortunately ok.

    @smitty34877  Prayers for Tana and the family.

    @AncientWanderer Beautiful gardens. Are you doing just the 14 night or that plus the Pacific crossing?

    Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

    Thank-you for asking.  We are going to relocate to the southern coast of Maine.  Since we retired last year we no longer need to live in the city.  We have family up there so it will be nice to be closer and to be closer to nature. Some people think we’re crazy but I grew up near the 45th parallel in Northern Michigan so why not?  We thought we’d sell first and then buy, maybe renting in between.

    Thanks for the information. Although I went to school in Boston, I've never been to Maine. I imagine the scenery is great. Since you grew up in Northern Michigan, it sounds like you'll be able to handle the weather in Maine. A new adventure! Best of luck with the sale of your house.

    Luggage Forward delivered the 4 bags and 1 box this afternoon, it looks like the luggage came through just fine.  Now to unpack it all!

    About an hour later the wine we bought in NZ arrived -- each bottle is in a sleeve of 100% NZ sheep's wool!  What a great idea.  Between the wool and the egg crate packing, all 15 bottles came though just fine too.

  13. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

    Now I'll be singing "Louie, Louie" all day! I don't have a pantry, but my kitchen cabinets are pretty organized. No pet here. I like the quote. Maybe on the meal, pass on the drink and wine. I've been to Norfolk and see a couple of the vintage naval ships (pre-digital age). The Civil Rights Act is supremely important.

    It's warm (71F), but drizzly. We're supposed to get bad storms later tonight, with possible damaging winds and flood advisory. I'm sleepy. I have been up since 3:45. Picked BFF up at 6:45. Luckily it only took one pass with the Mohs surgery this time. Next Thursday he's having another small lesion done. It was tough walking in and out of the derm office; I should have used the rollator. I may get in the recliner and see if I can get a nap in, but my leg hurts in the recliner. Then maybe work some more on getting stuff put away again.

    I just heard about OJ Simpson's death at 76, from cancer.

    Happy Birthday to Haljo1935’s DH!  Cute dog pics.

    @aliaschief That spread of food looks great!

    @Heartgrove Wow, sorry to hear of all the difficulties DW Sue and DSIL are having on the Rotterdam, due to weather. Sam is gorgeous.

    @kazu Ivan looks so content in "your" spot, lol.

    @smitty34877 I'm glad to hear that Tana seems to be doing better. Prayers for all. And I'm glad the film crew is compensating you. Great photo.

    @Mr. Boston I may have missed it, but are you buying/or already bought a new house?

     @Seasick Sailor Oliver has that "who me" look on his face in the 2nd photo.

    @Cruzin Terri I hope Jim's appointment went well.

    @cunnorl Enjoy your time away in Boston and Cape Cod!

    @marshhawk I hope you're feeling better soon and that DH gets to talk to his doctor about his hip.

    @Overhead Fred Thanks for the Bermuda photos.

    @Haljo1935 Nice photos of the dogs.

    @puppycanducruise Thanks for introducing us to Bertie Woofster.

    @RMLincoln I hope DH gets an easy game plan from the oncologist.

    @StLouisCruisers Nice photos of the grand and great grand dogs.

    @kochleffel The criticism by the other students sounds somewhat inappropriate.

  15. Good afternoon. Thanks for the FR/Daily, @kazu @rafinmd & maps @rafinmd.

    I'll salute farm animals and the Salvation Army's founder. I have no siblings (at least that I know about). Excellent quote. Maybe for the meal and the drink and pass on the wine. I haven't been to Aqaba. A good day in history.

    It's cloudy and rainy here, but warm. More rain the next few days, with wind warnings and severe storm warnings for tomorrow night. I had my pre-op exam with my PCP this morning. Now I am very sleepy. I just made my morning coffee and am having my bagel with it. Maybe the caffeine will help. I may see if I can nap soon. I need to write out checks to pay taxes owed, and for estimated payments for next year. Tomorrow I have to be up at o'dark thirty to take BFF for his Mohs procedure.

    @MISTER 67 Good to hear you're better and I hope DW hasn't caught what you had.

    @kazu I hope you can get some answers about your foot. Sorry to hear of the flight issues getting home.

    @StLouisCruisers Excellent Petra photos!

    @smitty34877 I'm sorry to hear the aide won't be there, and that last night's sleep was interrupted. I hope things stabilize for Tana, and you all have better nights. Nice photos.

    @kochleffel That must have been quite a fall; good to hear the pain is subsiding.

    @GTVCRUISER Awww,

    @Haljo1935 I hope you can get the work/medical issue worked out satisfactorily. Thanks for the siblings photo.

    @RMLincoln Prayers for DSIL and all the family, especially those making decisions.

    @dfish Fun photos of you kids.

    @Cruising-along I'm jealous of the wine that's coming! Thanks for the photos.

    @Nickelpenny Thanks for the great photos.

    Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating.

  17. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

    I had to look up Jenkins Ear Day. I remember Jumbo the elephant. I like antiques and have many in my home. I like the quote. I like the meal (didn't we have this recently?). Pass on the drink and wine. I have been to Denali NP. A good day in history.

    It's a lovely day here, 75F and partly sunny. Then rain for the next few days. I got about 4 hours of sleep last night, despite being exhausted. I stayed in bed a while, then had to go get a haircut and then PT. My pain level is 10/10 today, when it hits. Sitting in a car for long periods yesterday didn't help. Ugh. Tomorrow I have my pre-op exam with my PCP. Thursday I will be taking BFF for Mohs surgery, with a repeat next Thursday for a different spot.

    Yesterday BFF and I drove to a friend's house near Cleveland. They had a very nice patio from which we watched the eclipse. It was spectacular. The temp dropped about 10 degrees, and it looked like night. BFF surprised me with a T-shirt that said "Twice in a Lifetime" and had the dates of the 2017 eclipse and yesterday's. Sadly the drive home was somewhat horrendous, with all the traffic. We tried a detour off the highway, and got lost, LOL. But we eventually made it home. 2 hours, 20 minutes going, 5 hours coming home. So being gone from home from 9A to 11P, I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, other than the Cares List.

    @luvteaching Happy Birthday! And gentle hugs. So sweet of DS to make you a cake, and from scratch! I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your DSIL. Condolences to the family.

    @ger_77 Happy Anniversary to you and Maurice! Thanks for the lovely photo.

    @grapau27 Nice videos, and thanks for the explanation. Good news from the skin cancer specialist.

    @MISTER 67 I'm glad you're feeling better.

    @Overhead Fred It looks like you had a good time yesterday. Thanks for the photo of those at your meal and the cake.

    @aliaschief Interesting photos. I would have been fasting with you.

    @smitty34877 That's a great photo! I hope Tana is doing ok today.

    @P&PNH Great photo! Most don't get to see Denali because of clouds.

    @Cruising-along Nice photos.

    @kochleffel Taughannock Falls looks like a great place to visit.

    @rafinmd I hope all the Cardiology tests and appointments go well.

    Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

    I would love to have some of that potato salad if only it could be prepared without salt and low sodium mayo. Pass on the drink and would like the wine.

    I was at Costa Maya 1 time, took a HAL expedition to visit the ruins of Tulum, the most beautiful Mayan Capitol as the ocean is it's background.

    A strange day for me so far; I woke up about 15 minutes before my alarm feeling very dizzy, very weak and slightly nauseous. Almost fell as I staggered into the bathroom. After taking my morning meds I made my way into the kitchen by holding onto the walls, fed my cats and had a cup of coffee. Blood pressure was 161/87, high but not alarming for me. After sitting for an hour or so the dizzyness slowly went away. I was afraid to try driving so I watched a live feed for church and now the nausea has gone away. Still feeling somewhat weak but able to walk unsupported. I have an appointment at Banner University Hospital Interventional Cardiology department on Wed. so I will be sure to tell the Dr. about this.

    Prayers for those who are in need and hurrahs for those who are not in need.

    Jane

    Jane, that's scary about the dizziness, weakness and nausea. Perhaps medication related? If it recurs, I would call Cardiology right then, even though you have an appointment on Wednesday.

    Good Sunday afternoon,

    @JazzyVI hope the surgery works.  It is interesting that you are on Kevzara.  That was an option for me as an alternative to Prednisone when i saw the Rheumatologist.  I declined.  I am hoping to be off of Prednisone by in six months.  If that does not work, then I will reconsider Kevzara.

    Prayers for everyone.

    God Bless,

    Terri

    Terri, I have been on a multitude of drugs for my eyes (I have uveitis). After steroid drops alone didn't work, I was sent to Rheumatology. They did an extensive autoimmune workup that was negative. Then started high dose oral steroids. That fixed the eyes, but you can't stay on high doses. So the trials began to find a drug that would work. Most either didn't help or I couldn't tolerate side effects. In 2022 I was only on steroid drops and low dose oral steroids (prednisone 2.5mg). Then I developed swelling and pain of the knuckles and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. We tried to find a drug that would help both the eyes and the RA. Finally came up with Kevzara (luckily it's supplied by the manufacturer, as it wasn't covered by my insurance at the time). While  not perfect, I am down from eye flares every 2 weeks to about every 3 months (I'm still on the drops and low dose prednisone). Good luck to you on your quest to treat your PMR.
