  1. Upfront and high deck.....the worst part of the ship as far as movement. I can't understand why YC and Haven (NCL) are there. I guess, the view! Pre becoming a loyal YCer....I always went "mid deck and low".
  2. I'm on the Jan 14th sailing. Looking forward to it....wasn't too concerned about stains on the carpets or furniture.
  3. Hmmm....as a 74 year old Queens native, who spent a couple of years in Bklyn, and now lives in Manhattan....I found my Mera pizza delivered to the YC....just as good. Different, but just as good. I think NYC pizza is thicker and more cheese. I had it a couple of days on the pool deck...and skipped YC dinner (except for dessert of course).
  4. The initial reviews of this ship were pretty bad. I was considering to cancel, based a couple of things specific to us (slippery floors and crowded buffet)...but people on the ship reported back, and we decided to keep the reservation. After that....reviews were quite favorable and I was happy that I didn't cancel. I don't like a crowded casino...I generally do my thing there while DH is still sleeping (ok...probably the entire ship is still sleeping)....so I think I'll be ok...as long as I don't inhale. But, stained chairs and soiled rugs....oh my, how will I last the week????(lol)
  5. As a person who rarely drinks....is one expected to tip in the casino with the DOU (I know people are going to say "I give a few dollars")? I'd probably take one or two sips of something at most.....
  6. You absolutely should be together and your TA should be doing more. Maybe she needs a push....like if she can't correct it....you'll cancel. Escalate........
  7. Is the second cabin they gave you a studio? Another question: (sorry if it sounds callous) Is it absolutely necessary that the 5 of you are together? Sometimes one person may want space...and it may not be a big deal (assuming that an adult was booked as the studio occupant). But...if it was booked as one booking for a "family cabin" it should have been changed as a family cabin. The TA should not accept the "72 hour" answer.
  8. Was it all booked under one booking number? The problem is....if "that cabin" is no longer available, what is? Does their website show it open?
  9. Sadly, I think the TA is covering himself. Sounds like 2 independent bookings. Would it be possible (you don't say when the sailing is) to cancel and rebook directly with MSC?
  10. Yes....I noticed I paid double for the water I ordered for the room. As far as the buffet....I was never a fan. Maybe a panini from the deli...or a slice of cake....otherwise...not good. Speaking about cake...do they still have those nice cakes at the lunch buffet?
  11. Question....when your butler was MIA....did the other butlers do his job (for whatever you needed)?
  12. We were on NCL Escape last month.....it was the same thing. Awful.....
  13. @Captain-JohnWe had the pizza delivered to the pool deck....that and coke. For me, that pool deck is my favorite place to eat!
  14. I don't care what the brand it.....another perk of YC is that you can walk all around the ship and get a fresh bottle of water at any bar. A bottle...not a glass.......
  15. The butler does "too much".....escorts you everywhere so you "skip the lines", brings you pizza on the pool deck, delivers your drinks wherever you are, makes sure you're happy (if request is within reason). I never sailed on NCL Haven...but I've heard people complain about "not seeing the butler" or "the butler wasn't good". I don't think that happens in the YC....because if your butler isn't available...another one steps in. They operate as a team.
  16. Here's my 2 cents. I book balcony if I think I'd get use out of it....or if the price is good. A balcony on a TA from NY in April...completely irrational. I'd take that $2500 and get me a nice Italian bauble! Or, some other Italian luxury good...something she can't get here. Even if she could get it here....it's a souvenir that she can always look back at. If you have the money to burn....burn it on a momento of your trip. (Personal note: DH always buys me a piece of jewelry, even if I don't want it...so I can have the memory of the trip.)
  17. You're forgetting....YC also has "the grill" for breakfast and lunch!
  18. @mscdivina2016Sounds to me like someone is missing the Yacht Club
  19. @Haljo1935Thanks for the review...and the info I requested. As to debarkation and shuttles...NOTHING was running yesterday morning. We had the worst rainfall in the history of NY'C..... Without knowing the specific facts...JFK is in a low lying area, the Belt Parkway/Van Wyck always floods. https://www.foxweather.com/weather-news/new-york-new-jersey-east-coast-flood-rain-friday
  20. We generally just take one carry-on each and get the laundry perk on NCL. Our upcoming April cruise is for 11 nights..with no laundry included....so I'm thinking DH can take his carryon and I'll take something a little larger. Since we can drop off the luggage at the YC tent, I'm not worried about it getting lost. However, for disembarkation, where did they put the luggage? Separate YC area?
  21. I have NO idea how they are going to enforce this surcharge......and I'd think if you're on the FDR you would bypass it anyway....as you won't be on the streets. When we came home the Uber took less than 30 minutesI (maybe more like 20 minutes) to get to East 96th. It really didn't cost us much more in time or money than getting to the West Side. You really gotta join us converts.......
  22. Been following those sailings....interiors on Deck 16 are gone already! DH and I were discussing Haven (never been, never will be) vs YC...and just the simple things: Take a sea day in Haven. If you don't want to go on shore, where do you eat lunch? (I think Haven restaurant is closed.) Take a sea day in YC. If you don't want to go on shore, you have the YC restaurant, the YC buffet on the pool deck...and pizza delivery by the butler! Basically...you have a private yacht. He think NCL better re-evaluate if they want to compete. Forgot to mention....if you're in the YC...you can also go to the thermal spa if you stay on board....no extra charge!
  23. Any comments about the theatre....not so much the entertainers....but wait times to enter and seating?
  24. But, I have to say, your theatre report disappointed me. I'm not that picky about "what's on the stage"....doesn't have to be b'way caliber....but having a seat would be nice!
