  1. So, so far no one who responded has had the same experience as the OP. Let's give Carnival the benefit of the doubt that this was an isolated incident instead of going off on Carnival as a whole.
  2. I cannot believe they are frittering away so much money on this party when they should be spending it on bacon! 😆
  3. Not necessarily true. We have found lower base prices for Carnival Cruises on a TA website. They are usually only a few weeks out. We called our PVP to see if Carnival could match it, but they couldn't. We felt bad not using her to book the cruise, but she said she understood. I am guessing that some of the larger TAs guarantee Carnival that they will sell a certain number of cruises and start lowering the price (and taking the hit themselves) when it gets too close to the sailing date for comfort.
  4. The Pride is also the only Carnival ship in Europe at that time, where the Mardi Gras has the same general itinerary as a bunch of other Carnival ships. In a time where ships aren't sailing full, more choices for the cruiser means lower prices. My Pride Balcony this past summer was also more expensive than any "nicer" ships I took in the Caribbean.
  5. I believe you are referring to Eden Parker here. I believe he is on Celebration now.
  6. How many fights have broken out among Elite cruisers?
  7. If I were you, I would go to Guest Services with the other parent immediately after boarding just to make sure. You don't want to miss your excursion because you ran into problems in the disembarkation line. As an alternative, have the other parent come with you as you leave the ship for the excursion. If necessary, she can disembark with the child, and then turn right around and get back on the ship.
  8. Wear sneakers, and pack flip flops and dressier sandals. If you ha have room for one more pair, throw in some loafers or topsiders and stuff them full of socks and underwear. Easy Peasy.
  9. This. Put a quart size bag in both the backpack and the carry on. TSA isn't going to know that both of them belong to you.
  10. And if you want to pay an extra $150/day to have a few shrimp and crab legs on your cruise, that's your call. Personally, I can get those at my local Costco, so I would rather take 3-4 Carnival cruises for the same amount of money. 😃
  11. They could easily solve that by making FTTF nonrefundable once you check in.
  12. We have never sent any nice clothes to the laundry - just socks, underwear, t-shirts, polos, and shorts. Everything has come back just fine. We use the laundry service to cut down on the amount of clothes we need to pack, and as a result we can go on a 2-week cruise with just carry-on luggage.
  13. The problem is that the ships can't reach a lot of other destinations from where they currently sail domestically. Sure, there are a few places such as Tortola, but I would not be surprised if many of those limit the number of cruise ships for environmental or other reasons.
  14. The excursion that I wanted was sold out on Viator, but I found availability on what appears to be the exact same excursion on GetYourGuide: https://www.getyourguide.com/basseterre-l1462/saint-kitts-nevis-getaway-to-pinney-s-beach-by-boat-t273367/ It's the same date, time and tour operator.
  15. I am also looking for a tour that will take us from the cruise port to Pinney's beach on January 21. The tour on Viator is sold out that day. I would prefer not to have to negotiate cabs and ferries on my own.
  16. Our excursion on our first trip to St. Lucia was great, too. We had a private tour of the island by a great guide, who chased away anyone we didn't want to talk to. We also did a fun scuba excursion on a return trip. But after that, we had literally done everything there is to do in St. Lucia except walk around town (and hence my trip and fall).
  17. Funny you should mention St. Lucia by name as a place Carnival does not go often enough. DH and I have been on ship that docked there at least a half-dozen times (mostly on Carnival, but other ships as well), and it is one of our least favorite Caribbean islands. We have found the locals to be extremely aggressive. On one stop therel I tripped over a curb trying to get away from some of them and split open my shin. The ship's doctor had to put in several stitches. I guess the silver lining was that I got one of those lovely port days where I enjoyed the empty ship. 🙂
  18. Yeah, I am not lining up 45 minutes ahead of time to watch a show on the MG when I can stroll straight into the venue 10 minutes before the start on a smaller ship.
  19. I am surprised that Carnival doesn't have the video poker machines built into the bar top like many casinos do. Since they stopped allowing people to smoke while sitting at it, it seems to be one of the least busy bars on the ship. I always sit at those when I am in Las Vegas. That way, I only have to flag down the bartender. In a lot of cases, the bartender is asking me if I want a refill even before I have finished the one I have.
  20. I don't gamble enough to get any decent casino perks, but if I did have a DOU deal and the server was never coming around, I would have a chat with the casino host. Making sure the gamblers are happy is literally his only job. I bet if you did that, and gave the sever a generous tip on the first round, you would not have any trouble getting drinks after that.
  21. Agreed, and it would not benefit Carnival in any way whatsoever. If things like that worked, every publicly traded company would do it.
  22. Yes, my birthday suit could use a little ironing. 😁
  23. I found this list of space ratio per passenger on Carnival ships. As I suspected, the Spirit Class, my favorite, is the highest: 41.7 – Spirit class ships (Spirit, Pride, Legend, and Miracle) 37.6 – Carnival Splendor 36.9 – Conquest class ships (Conquest, Glory, Freedom, Valor, and Liberty) 35.6 – Carnival Dream 35.2 – Carnival Magic and Breeze 34.3 – Fantasy class ships (Ecstasy, Sensation, Elation, and Paradise) 34.3 – Carnival Sunshine 34.1 – Mardi Gras, Carnival Radiance 34 – Carnival Sunrise 33.9 – Vista class ships (Horizon, Vista, and Panorama) Here is a link to the entire article: https://cruisefever.net/0831-which-carnival-cruise-ships-have-the-most-space-ratio-per-passenger/
  24. Again, in your case, Carnival cancelled and that was a form of refund. What the OP is referring to is an insurance policy that pays out in FCC. It's not unreasonable to think that the FCC would go to the person who bought the policy. Has Person A read the fine print in her policy? My guess is that the answer is spelled out there.
  25. Two regular-type chairs and one side table. One of the chairs can recline slightly.
