Annette0325 Posted August 27, 2013 #176 Share Posted August 27, 2013 We are going to stay in a beach cabana in Oct. Just wondering if you happened to notice how many beach cabanas that they have? We have a large group going and have 3 beach cabanas and was hoping to get them by each other.

Daghis Posted August 27, 2013 Author #178 Share Posted August 27, 2013 We are going to stay in a beach cabana in Oct. Just wondering if you happened to notice how many beach cabanas that they have? We have a large group going and have 3 beach cabanas and was hoping to get them by each other. I have some pictures, so I may be able to count later, but I'm not sure I'd be able to see them all as some are further back and out of view from where I took the pictures. I don't know how many they have. I know what you mean, though. My group that's going next October has 3 over-the-water cabanas. I hope they're adjacent, too. Perhaps that can be arranged by talking with the Explorations! desk staff after you board.

Quilting Queen Posted August 27, 2013 #180 Share Posted August 27, 2013 The first image is the fountain above Rising tides bar. I don't know where the 2nd image is. The third on is part of On Air. Norine
Daghis Posted August 27, 2013 Author #181 Share Posted August 27, 2013 We've just returned from Labadee. I was hoping to be sitting on our balcony, enjoying a glass of wine, but it seems that our cabin steward, although he replaced the ice in the ice bucket, he failed to do so for the wine bucket, so our wine is no longer chilled. :( Labadee was as nice as always. We got there, headed over to Nellie's Beach, and were directed to our cabana down this path: up this ramp: and here we are: From our cabana, we have a nice view of the people enjoying Nellie's Beach: and the ship herself:

Daghis Posted August 27, 2013 Author #183 Share Posted August 27, 2013 Now that we're back aboard, we're be getting ready for dinner eventually. Dinner tonight is Giovanni's Table. I've not been there before, so I'm looking forward to trying it since I've seen to many positive reviews from others. Afterward, I'm getting a special treat. I ran into a bartender from a previous cruise, Bojan, who served me in the casino bar on Freedom of the Seas last year. He made me some very fantastic drinks then and he said he'd make me something special tonight. Oh, and a special shout-out to the fellow passenger I met today at Nellie's Beach who recognized me from this thread. I hope you had a fantastic time at the beach and I look forward to running into you again!

Rare Lionesss Posted August 27, 2013 #189 Share Posted August 27, 2013 Could the second picture be the North on the compass rose on the bow and stern. (What the allure and oasis were originally code named, unless I fell for that one). Sea Ya
AZ Karaoke Girl Posted August 27, 2013 #190 Share Posted August 27, 2013 It looks like you had cabana #8. Did you happen to notice the stairs/ladders & water access for the over the water cabana's? I want to make sure I don't get one with a ladder into the water.
tofer610 Posted August 28, 2013 #191 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Enjoying your review so far....sailing on the Allure in October...we have done the Oasis the last two years. How do you find your Ipad working with the ship's WiFi?

dreamer976 Posted August 28, 2013 #194 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Hello Marc! Just found your thread - so happy to "sea" that you're cruising again and on the beautiful Allure! Now I have quite a few pages to get through to catch up. Hope you're having beautiful weather and calm seas.
Maybaybie10 Posted August 28, 2013 #195 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Glad you are having a great cruise and love your review! We leave on Allure in 5 1/2 weeks after 18 months of planning- we are so excited! Silly little question, but you mentioned they changed the Coke cups- did they by chance add a handle this time around?!! That's the only thing I didn't like last time is they needed something to hold them by when I was carrying them around the ship (full or empty). It's the little things! Thanks and keep making great memories!
Daghis Posted August 28, 2013 Author #196 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Maybe #8 per the attached picture? Yes, #8 in that picture looks right. the cabanas look great. sounds like a nice day :D We really enjoyed Giovanni's - curious to hear what you think It was okay. It's definitely not my favorite, though. The menu items looked nice, and what I got was tasty, but I didn't walk away feeling the level of pleasure from the experience that I did after Samba Grill. I had the "insalata caprese" (tomatoes with mozzarella), crab ravioli, and chocolate tart. They were good and all, but it's unlikely that I would remember the dinner long after the cruise as I would for my favorites like Samba Grill or Izumi. It looks like you had cabana #8. Did you happen to notice the stairs/ladders & water access for the over the water cabana's? I want to make sure I don't get one with a ladder into the water. On our side of the beach, they were all ramps or stairs. I did see a ladder on the far side of Nellie's Beach. That looks uncomfortable and I hope we're not over there next year. Enjoying your review so far....sailing on the Allure in October...we have done the Oasis the last two years. How do you find your Ipad working with the ship's WiFi? It's working great! I'm getting full signal strength in the cabin and on the balcony. It's easier to connect and disconnect than the regular wifi service that all the other Royal Caribbean ships offer. For example, to disconnect after you're finished using the internet, you simply go to your web browser and surf to logout.com or logoff.com. That's it. It's a lot easier than the arcane URL they used to log off the per-minute wifi on other ships. Awww, Labadee, so beautiful!! Looks like it was a very hot day there. Nice pics. Thank you. You're welcome! Yes, very hot! As much as I love cruising in the Caribbean, I'm not a fan of hot weather. Go figure! :) It was a nice day, though. While I was in the water, some clouds were filtering the sun so it wasn't as bright and that was nice to me. I'm sure others were disappointed. :) Here's a question for you .. What's the situation with the escargot? Many have said the ship is not serving escargot --- is it available?? There wasn't escargot on the menu when I looked. It was scallops instead. I don't know whether it's available as a special item at limited times, but I get the feeling that Royal Caribbean may have given up on those little snails. Glad you are having a great cruise and love your review! We leave on Allure in 5 1/2 weeks after 18 months of planning- we are so excited! Silly little question, but you mentioned they changed the Coke cups- did they by chance add a handle this time around?!! It's the little things! Thanks and keep making great memories! No, no handle. They are more colorful with a fancier design. I'll upload a picture of them later on to show you. Daghis Posted August 28, 2013 Author #197 Share Posted August 28, 2013 So, welcome to Jamaica! We should be docking soon. I don't have anything planned for this port other than walking around the port itself and then getting back on the ship. I want to take the time this afternoon to take photos around the ship of interesting things while most people are enjoying their excursions off the ship. Last night, we did meet up with Bojan, the bartender I mentioned previously from our cruise on Freedom of the Seas. He took us to a bar where he made me a wonderful drink of two kinds of vodka, two kinds of schnapps, and other ingredients. It was so refreshing and yummy! He and I have a "date" tonight at 8pm when he's going to make me something special again. I'm so thrilled that he's on this cruise. Tonight, the only thing planned, besides my bar "date", is the comedy show at 9:30. I'm sure we'll be having a good time as we find various venues to enjoy. JohnSnowGOT Posted August 28, 2013 #198 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Hey Daghis, I really enjoyed the last review you gave on your first Allure cruise. We had not cruised on Allure at that time and your review was a great help. Enjoying this review too. Question: have you eaten at Chops yet? If not when are you? I would like to recommend our favorite waiter.

CruisingCaraCat Posted August 28, 2013 #200 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Much thanks for the review. We will be sailing Allure for the fourth time on September 29. I am glad to see somebody else who enjoys Vintages. We actually have dinner there at least once a cruise, it's very relaxing and a needed break from the heavy (but also enjoyable) meals we usually have. The black footed pig ham in Vintages is wonderful and compared to what it costs in Spain it may be the best bargain on board. I didn't see whether you were eating at 150, this is my favorite restaurant at sea and I think pretty comparable to the best restaurants I have been to on land. ENJOY!!
