Cabin Assignment..Final Payment

If I booked a guarantee, would they ever assign a cabin before I made final payment? I just left a deposit and final payment is not until May.

I booked guarantee cabins a lot, however, I've never had a cabin assigned prior to final payment.

It did happen to us on the Emerald Princess. It was the New Year's cruise for 2010 to 2011. We booked 2 balcony guarantees (MIL and MIL's hubby booked as well) in early August of 2011 and had assignments within two weeks. That was months before final payment.

I booked a guarantee last JULY for the 18 April Royal sailing. Got my cabin assignment 4 weeks prior to final payment.

But don't count on it, I've had allocations within hours of booking to when I checked in.

We received an upgrade one time from an Obstructed Oceanview to an Oceanview long before Final Payment.

We usually book our cruises after the final payment date. The last Princess one I booked before was several years ago. We had an obstructed view guarantee and were assigned to an unobstructed one several weeks before the final payment date. We enjoyed the convenience of the Plaza Deck a lot.

I just did my first gty and got my cabin assignment on 2/2 and final payment was 2/11. A few others on that sailing also got their assignment that same day.

We have gotten our rooms before final payment--never much less than two months out, actually.

They can be assigned anytime.

I have had a GTY assignment made as soon as one hour after booking, many months before final payment.

 

I have also had GTY assignments made just a few days before embarkation.

 

As Colo Cruiser said, it can happen anytime
