Cute, interesting little "ZINGER"!! Personally, I am not that big of a baseball fan, but not sure that I have heard of any teams from other parts of the world doing much better in baseball. And, lots of the U.S. baseball talent does come from the Caribbean, etc..

As well as South America, Mexico, Canada, Japan, & Korea.:D

And you are right, it's not exactly fitting to the original post, but this has veered off topic days ago.that was the point of my post.

Can you tell me more about the Asian restaurant.

The Asian restaurant is called Silk Harvest. Our table for the 6 of us was ready when we arrived....so that was a plus.

The service is ok ...we just had a waitress that couldn't understand what we were asking. We had the premium package and wanted to purchase a bottle of wine for the table...but instead we all got glasses of wine and she charged everyone different prices. We got that straightened out... just a big communication barrier and if that was the worst thing that happened on our cruise, life is still good.

We ordered and got our appetizers, which we shared with our table mates. The shrimp appetizer was to die for. There was a noodle dish we also passed around that was beyond fabulous.

I ordered the chicken curry dish ... the curry was good ... the chicken was so dry and tasteless...but the server didn't ever come back around to check on us so I could try something else. By the time the chef came around with the maître'd, dinner was pretty much over. They asked how we enjoyed our meal but really didn't seem to be in the mood for any constructive criticism. I tried to explain the flavor was good, but the chicken was the problem. It was a chore to eat it...not my words to them, of course...but I merely suggested smaller more tender pieces or a different protein. They obviously couldn't leave our table fast enough.

So, I would try it again as some of the meal was amazing and the rest had great potential...just a bad night, I think.

Think of all the people who've seen the title of this thread, but didn't click to read, who just now assume Muranos is $65 USD.......

and so they will think they received a "deal" when they are on board and they are "only" charged $50 per person.......:D:D

Well there is a question mark in the title...

On a personal level, there is more chance of getting kicked to death by a chicken than getting me to spend $50 on a meal in there when the MDR is perfectly acceptable.

Do not forget to be thankful that those that spend the extra money are helping you to keep getting competive prices for your cruises. 😄😄

I thought it was the people who spent the big money in the casino who subsidized my cruise! :)

I want to make at least one reservation in the Murano. One member of our group has her birthday during the cruise and we want to make a special diner evening.

It is no different than booking a reservation at a restaurant on land.

The money is no issue. We are spending on the celebration anyway.

  • 4 weeks later...

We just came from the Equinox cruise and we have dined at the Murano.

The food, service and the ambiance are definitely a step up from the MDR. We have celebrated a birthday and all agreed that was a great experience.

The lobster entree was superb.

A tip: negotiate about the price before the reservation. We did got a substantial discount.

Not us. We are on vacation to enjoy ourselves, not pinch pennies. We try all the specialty restaurants. It's part of the adventure.

If we wanted to be frugal, we'd do it at home where we aren't trying to get the most out of our vacation.

When I am paying $$$$ for a cruise' date=' what is a few more $$ to make a great cruise, a fabulous cruise!!! [/color'] Murano and Tuscan take our cruises to the next level!

I really don't mind hearing the penny pinchers complain about the extra cost, because it insures that we can get in whenever we want!

And let's call a spade a spade. Some people are just downright cheap! I didn't quite understand their CHEAPness.

Susan

All of us underprivileged penny pinchers, schlepping along here on lowlife cruise lines like Celebrity, can only dream about joining the truly enlightened as they embark on their future travels aboard *R*E*A*L* LUXURY Cruise Lines... like Crystal, Seabourn, Silversea and Regent.

I really don't mind spendthrifts providing the cruise lines with all those high profits that have already TRIPLED my stock holdings in only 4 years. :D

I get to enjoy the same ships, the same bars, the same shows, and the same ports... all for less that ONE FOURTH or even ONE TENTH the price they are paying! ;)

Not ONLY am I thankful, I am greatly amused!

Or even when home.....why should I eat at a restaurant when I have food at home

I have to chuckle when I hear that stale excuse that "I have already paid for a meal in the MDR, I am not going to pay for another meal in a specialty restaurant". It's like going through life worried more about not spending a penny more than necessary than allowing oneself to have the best experiences possible. If one really felt that they didn't want to spend money on something they have already paid for, then they should not be spending money on a stateroom because they have already paid for living quarters back home which are going unused.

Murano is faux French food, over done with a lot of flair. The lobster flambé is all show. No real land based restaurant in a major city would survive a week with that food.

$100 a couple extra? Ok...I did it once...not twice

I have to agree. Style ( in a flambouyant 19070's way) over substance. When they coordinated the removal of the silver covers I held back a s******.

We'll pass...glad we got to enjoy these restaurants when the food and service were truly tops and the prices much lower! Other than enjoying BLU in AQ, our big night out will be at Bistro on Five!

The first two cruises( 2013 and 2014), Bistro on 5 was an additional 5.00. This cruise( September to Alaska) it was 10.00. I felt that was too much so I didnt do it.
